NY is finally cooling down but the world of MTV is still as hot as ever.
Last week I headed down to the Universal headquarters to catch up with an artist who’s been busy preparing his comeback. A comeback that has been 3 years in the making. After a highly publicised feud with 50 Cent that saw 50 victorious, Ja Rule disappeared almost completely and the future of Murder Inc held in the balance…until now.
With his latest album titled The Mirror finally complete, I sat down with Ja Rule to conduct his first in-depth interview in 3 years, or as Ja Rule described it — “the interview that everyone wants!”
While we were still setting up the shot, Rule arrived earlier than expected with one security guard, his manager, a label rep, a publicist and a handful of assistants. At just 5 foot 6 inches tall, Ja is definitely on the short side — but since the last time I saw him when he came on “TRL” back home in the UK, Rule has been hitting the gym. Dressed casual, Ja was in good spirits talking about the upcoming Mayweather/Hatton fight, placing his bet firmly on 50’s close friend Floyd Mayweather with the words “Mayweather’s going to dance circles round him — he’s too quick for Hatton.”
But that’s not the only heavyweight battle he’s predicting. In what turned out to be almost a 2 hour conversation Ja got deep about his music, his life, his career, his comeback, the new album, his personal confrontations with DMX, Eminem, Busta, Ashanti and 50 Cent.
