50 Cent on Fat Joe and This Week’s Soundscan Charts

Oh, Curtis.

MTV News’ Chris Harris slaves away every week to decipher the numerical glory that is the Soundscan album sales chart, but this Curtis Jackson guy could very well have a future in the same game. Especially if this rap thing doesn’t work out for him.

Anyway, in a video he released last night, Fitty “buries” Fat Joe in a tearful ceremony that makes reference to Joe’s woeful sales numbers this week (Frankly, we in the newsroom were a little surprised at the number - 46K - but maybe we are just stuck in old-world thinking and Fat Joe actually has a master plan. Or a hot single), and also gives props to Ricky Raaawwws. Plus some other stuff that had Shaheem Reid making that excellent belly-laugh he does so well.

We’d embed it here but 50 says some of the bad words that we just can’t broadcast if we want to keep our jobs, so we’ll link to it right here, via our friends at Nah Right.

No doubt, Fat Joe has a busy cadre of photoshop experts, Final Cut editors and savvy web-videographers at the ready to respond.

You go, 50. Everyone knows sales figues TOTALLY are the best measure of artistic merit. I mean, Nickelback are some next level isht. Like the Beatles and Bob Dylan. Together.

Also, remember when 50 promised to retire if Kanye outsold him? I wish that would've happened. The retirement part. Not the outselling. 'Cause that DID happen.

first off 50 cent is hella gay.. he's using beef to sell records. kanye west beat him in the sells department..and i love kanye for that cuz 50 said that he would retire. but he's a liar. he's a snitch if u pay attention to his earlier rhymes. ja use to make that good music that hip holp stuff...but ever since 50 came into the game he made eveyone try to be hard. and now look what happened. all the real hip hop artist are gone. none of the artist who made that feel good music is out because all the people want is to hear some one talking about hwoo much mney they got or how many females in on their jock. Ok..so Fat Joe can't sell as many records as 50. Some of his songs are good. And yes, 50 cent sells...so does Kanye & Jay-Z...so who cares? His music has gotten wack anyway. Mad corny compared to his first album, (which, every song on Get Rich or Die Trying was hot.) But now it's kinda wack. I'm still waiting for a better album. I'm tired of hearing about him outselling other B or C list rap artists, (couldn't outsell Kanye), his hoes, cars, money, blah, blah, blah..so cliche'. Get some new rhymes 50!

50 Cent isn't a Hip- Hop artist and he hasn't been since Get Rich or Die Tryin. That body of work actually had meaning to it. It was creative and thoughtful. Fat Joe is just as bad as 50. Same CD recycled over and over again. Meanwhile, artists who go against the grain are overlooked. Jay-Z puts out American Gangster with some of the best original lyrics and only true Hip Hop Heads understood the concept. Hip- Hop is not dead. it is alive and thriving. People just need to open there ears and listen for it.

RIP FAT JOE. First, I like to pay my respects to the 2fans(DJ-KHALED and GAME)of the former Bronx native. Never did buy any of his music but some girl told me he had a hit once called FatBack or LeanBack. Anyway,he should have known not to play suicide games, after what happen to poor lil Ja Rule. I think G UNIT is the BEST anyway. The ROC got much talent but JAY never let them shine. Kanye know how hard it is when Jay keep droppin albums when his crew tryin to drop one. I personally believe everybody is wack now a days, but Fat Joe is'nt all that commercial which sadly, but true sells right now. Fat Joe keep on rocking it, BX baby - Puerto Rico all the way.
