Timbaland and Chris Cornell: Is This a Collaboration You Want to Hear??
cornellaland

We love Timbaland. Absolute genius. True innovator. Changed the landscape of pop music forever. But man, does he have some suspect taste in rock music.

Anyway, Timbaland told Ryan Seacrest yesterday that he’s producing the upcoming solo album from former Soundgarden/Audioslave howler, Chris Cornell, the singer’s third.

Timbaland said it’s the “best work” he’s done in his career (of course it is). Meanwhile, Cornell – who gave props to “American Idol” cover coverer David Cook on Seacrest’s show earlier in the week — also said this upcoming solo album, which could be released as soon as next month, is the highlight of his career (of course it is).

Yeah.

We don’t mean to sound that cynical but really, what do you think - interesting or ridiculous?

  1. I think the best thing about Chris is that you never know what to expect. He constanly evolves! I am looking forward to this ablum..I trust Chris, he has never dissapointed me before and Ive been a fan for some 16 years!
  2. Your right Carl Olson!
  3. Mtv has always sucked.
  4. Considering how versatile Chris Cornell has proven to be throughout his career and always managed to produce brilliant music no-matter which direction he has chosen I am looking forward to hear the outcome of this fusion - should be an interesting one!! XOXOX
  5. Its probably been 15 years, maybe more, since MTV's opinion meant anything to me. They are nothing more than TMZ. Listen to the record, decide, buy it or not. I will buy it, as I am a fan. The critics are wrong more often than not.
  6. I really am looking forward to this Cornell/Timbaland album, it doesn't matter if it's a whole new style - in fact, that would be better! Wish these two brilliant people the best of luck and hope to see it on the shelves soon. 2008 shall be a sweet year!

  7. The easiest thing to do is judge... and to pre-judge is even easier. It's fun. Plus, if you can do it from the safety of a little blog comment, there's no risk of being judged yourself in any real way. MTV's little cynical bent on this piece of news is pretty funny... the cynic is never as fulfilled as the passionate believer... and that's sad... but that's only when the cynicism is genuine which this may not be... they're probably just trying to get a rise out of people like us:)...(oops I judged MTV!)

Chris Cornell has made some of my favorite music... to the point that in my mind, he's certainly earned the chance to do whatever he wants with whomever he wants, musically. My hope is that he's listening to that same creative voice that got him where he is. His work with Soundgarden and his album Euphoria Morning have truly enhanced my life. Thanks Chris (and Soundgarden guys and Eleven).

Timbaland is super talented, he wasn't born with commercial success he earned it. Same with Cornell... if these guys would've met in the sandbox as little dudes maybe they would have made this album a long time ago. Who knows?

If it sucks don't buy it.

It's cool to see all the Cornell fans on here sticking up for him.

Oh and Chris if you're out there... do another one with Eleven someday!!!
  8. Who the hell wrote this article?
"suspect taste in rock music"??? Does the author even know who the hell Chris Cornell is?
Cornell is a bloody legend - his latest (experimental) solo efforts notwithstanding (even though they're not bad... just not great).
Cornell's voice is by far the best in the (rock) music business right now. The fact that he's in his forties just serves to highlight the guy's sheer talent.
  9. I think one of the above comments is correct: "it will split the fans" -- but I also think that Audioslave split the fans, and Cornell's second solo record also split the fans.

The new album will most likely be AWESOME . . . I already find the new song to be very catchy and I get it stuck in my head often.

But I have seen Cornell in concert over 7 times and it NEVER gets old. ~??~, I'd be content with him singing the ingredients to toothpaste.

  10. I love Chris Cornell's work, and I have faith that this collab with Tim is gonna be as great if not better than the rest of his work. I wish em both the best of luck, though they don't need it..they're genius!
  11. hu ...?
you're calling CHRIS CORNELL a "Howler"?
what the hell is THAT suposed to mean??? (someone with some passion?)
I really don't even get where this criticism of Cornell is coming from ..what is there to criticise?

His songwriting, voice & band are all pretty incredible !
I don't know anything of TIMBALAND, but any colaboration with Chris Cornell will invite me to find out more - and can only ADD to whatever he's got to offer...
  12. Well my friend sent a ten second clip of timberland/cornell work for a commerical. I admit it is catchy, but I am disappointed. Cornell is one of the few last true rock song artists around that is still pushing out album after album and not trying to copy the nasal winey singing techniques originated by like Kirk Cobain. I have been a Cornell fan for years and I think he should stick to rock.
