We like to think of ourselves as a mini United Nations here, so we were delighted when the nice young Germans of Tokio Hotel stopped by the office today, hair and all.
We were pretty shocked Tom would make the undiplomatic move of wearing a Red Sox hat here in Yankee town [Ed: WTF??], but the be-dreaded guitarist assured me he was “so pretty” people can’t really get mad at him. Sorry, Tom, they so can. Fortunately for him, there’s usually a pack of screaming 14-year-old girls (and one burly bodyguard) surrounding you at all times.
Anyway, the band’s English language album Scream drops here tomorrow — it’s already out in Europe, which is why so many shrieking American tweens have all the lyrics memorized. Anime porcupine/frontboy Bill said it was pretty weird recording songs in English that he was used to singing in German. His favorite track to do live off the album is title song, while twin Tom favors “Read, Set, Go!” But don’t worry — they agree on, like, everything else!
Much more on the band’s love of Rammstein, The Scorpions, and The Hoff to come here at MTV News. (Oh, yes, it’s true — they are that adorably lost in translation.) And more pics of the band’s visit, after the jump.

aw, another awesome and hilarious article. the pictures are really pretty, i'm glad that the weather was nice. :)
feel free to steal and burn Tom's hat(s). the fans hate them anyway so it's not as if they'll be missed. *G*
I can't wait to see them on TRL tomorrow.
Does Bill have a girlfriend?
thnk you MTV and ;Tokio Hotel
maybe it looks like that TH only has teenie-13-years-old fans, but that's not real.
I wanna see more news about the jump into the states this month
I agree with Nicole (previous post). Maybe they aren't so good in english, but music and german lyrics rock. that matters to the crowd.
Can't wait for their TRL appearance tomorrow!
Seeing as I'm 19.
And know many others my age and older who like them too...
But overall... I am loving the pics. *laughs*
And as I said before, LOOOOOOOVE how you guys are paying them so much attention, they are going to ROCK America!
Their fans may be mainly young teenagers over in Europe, but here in the US they have a strong following with an older crowd. I am 22 and the majority of the fans I know are between 18 and 25. Please stop referring to all their fangirls as being 14.
You can keep saying Bill has porcupine hair though. That's adorable.
It's great how we're all 14 year old tween fan girls. Thanks MTV.
Tom with Sox Hat.
so something he would do.
AHH LOVE THEM!
Can NOT wait to see them!!!
Major probs to you! Wonderful article
But, I swear... at that NY gig they had back in February, no one was under fifteen. I don't get why we all get lumped into the "14 year-olds/tweens" category all the time. Does anyone actually, you know... look at the fans?
Ganz Ganz!
but ugh, im sick of everyone thinking all the fans are tweens. i love them and i'll be 20 in just a couple of months. the reason people think that all their fans are 13-ish is because those are the fans that are so hyped up on hormones that they feel like they have see their favorite band in person or they'll die.
There are a whole lot of fans that are 20+, we just don't feel like making fools out of ourselves or believe that we have to buy every CD or go to every concert to live; so nobody knows we exist, except other TH fans...
and most of the pple i see who r fans are always older than 14 so get ur facts straight
"Anime Porcupine/frontBOY"? Are you kidding me? He's not 12, he's an actual adult, so get over the fact that he's physically attractive (and yes, adorable) and pay attention to the talent he has. How wonderful to see that MTV keeps up its wonderful nose-in-the-air attitude about a group that has been together since a very young age, playing their own instruments and writing their own lyrics. Why, yes, there are bands that actually do that. I'm amazed too.
It was a condescending piece of crap written about a band that deserves so much respect. They're working hard and are internationally acclaimed artists, stop treating them like they're a bunch of little kids. Why not discuss something other than "The Hoff", like oh, say...the fact that FrontMAN Bill just made his first live performance since his throat surgery, something that concerned fans and the band alike, only to show that not only would he be as good as before but better. Why not talk to them about the years of struggling to be acknowledged fully in their own country even while creeping up on others. Yes, let's waste space talking about the twins' attire and insulting all their fans by lumping them into the "Tweens" category. Great research there.
But I guess "cute" German teenaged boys just isn't sophisticated enough for MTV; what with the intellectual fare provided there, like "A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila".
Leave it to MTV to knock what they used to stand for: GOOD music. I can't wait for them to shut up their detractors.
- A TWENTY-SIX (2-6) year old fan.
jeje,, Bill looks amaizing
and we really miss'd his beautiful voice ^^
kisses
soo handsome,:D
kisses
Mtv We love ya!
and im uber happy they have more and more ppl are learning about Tokio Hotel in the US..but at the same time it really PISSES ME OFF! cuz i don't want them to start getting fans that just are in to them cuz their looks..and probably only know like one of their song..and they call them selfs "true fans" i know it sound really selfish..cuz i don't what them to gee other fans..even if i talk about 24/7 to my friends that don't really care about Tokio Hotel ..but their so amazing i wanted to have them all to myself!
I LOVE GERMANS!...TOKIO HOTEL I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART AND NEVER STOP ON ROLLING MY WORLD!
TOM...UR SO HOTT..CALL ME!..LOL
Bill's 18, therefore Bill's a man, thank you. Frontman.
By the way, any word from Gustav or Georg? It's not the Kaulitz-Trümper Show.
But it is cool they're getting some decent recognition.
i'm definately not a tween. :\
TH's fan base is of the same age demographic as most american rock bands like them. far-ranging, and definately not a "tween-band".
je taime tom
My oh my, Bill looks so sexy!! He's yummy :P
But, wait, they didn't PERFORM "Ready, Set, Go!" live on TRL yet, right? It just says they stopped by the station, i hope. I don't want to miss the mini performance! :D
and awesome article!
The wether was soo nice, they are all smiley and shineey:)
Tokio Hotel has the best music. I actually dont listen to any sorts of rock music or anything in that sort but they are the first band I loved.
They have amazing music and their lyrics are really deep. They are also SOO HOT. I love Bill and Tom.
CANT WAIIIIIIIIT to go to their concert on may 16th in Toronto.
SO EXITED:)
i am there #1 fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BILL UR PRETTY HOTT TOO!!!!..Georg & Gustav U GUYZ ARE AWESOME!
I've read previous comments regarding all of TH's fans NOT being "tweens" or 14 yr old girls. I'm 38. I've been a fan of theirs for nearly a year after discovering them on a website and learning more on youtube. I LOVE their German songs, and have even started learning some German because of these guys. My 2 teenagers love them as well. MTV and the press should stop trying to put their music in a little box and call it "tween" music OR EMO. It's just not accurate.
