Tokio Hotel Fans Think They Are ‘Sooooooooooo HOTT!!!!!!’

This is interesting. We here at MTV News thought we were kind of conducting a fun little experiment when we published an item on Tokio Hotel a couple weeks ago. We were sort of daring the rumored-to-be-rabid fan base to react. But in the words of “GG,” OMFG! Y’all are too much!

Here’s a mere sampling of the massive groundswell of comments we received just overnight when posting about the pint-sized German band’s visit to Times Square yesterday. And if you care this much, maybe we’ll just roll out a video piece on the band. Don’t tempt us…

On Appealing to All Ages Forever & Ever:

Val: I wish you’d stop referring to their fans as 14-year-old hysterical girls or tweens. I am in my 30s and not particularly hysterical and have been a fan of this bad for almost two years now since discovering their music on YouTube.

Melody: Maybe it looks like that TH only has teenie 13-years-old fans, but that’s not real.

Oyoa: I didn’t know I was considered a shrieking 14-year-old tween…seeing as I’m 19.

Maggie: Please, PLEASE, for the love of God stop referring to all of their fans as “tweens” or “little 14-year-old girls” because it isn’t true. Yes, there are younger fans, but the majority of TH fans are 17 or well into their 20’s and even 30’s (and older). Referring to their fan base generally as “tweens” is quite insulting.

Sylvia: I’m 17 and I love this band. Don’t believe me go check out both my Gaias and my MySpace. I’m serious.

Amanda: Yeah, I’m 14 but I barely know ANYONE my age who even knows who Tokio Hotel are. And I’m rly mature and look older than my age and yeah if I ever saw them I would obv scream but still I’m not immature…

Alex: It’s not true that all of there fans are 14 years olds. Like me, I’m 15 and I know others who are older.

TH FanWoman: I know that the teen fans hate being called hysterical but they are. When you go to a Tokio Hotel concert you can barely hear Bill’s voice over the screaming. I am not talking about the singing along with Bill but the random, high-pitched screaming and shrieking. I buy my tickets to hear the boys, not all that teenage horniness coming out in a scream.

Alisa: They are f***ing amazing. They showed me that music doesn’t have to be complex and full of technicalities for it to eat my f***ing heart alive.
Shiira: I really, really, really, really, really want to injure the writer of this little article. “Anime Porcupine/frontBOY”? Are you kidding me? He’s not 12, he’s an actual adult, so get over the fact that he’s physically attractive (and yes, adorable) and pay attention to the talent he has…I guess “cute” German teenaged boys just isn’t sophisticated enough for MTV, what with the intellectual fare provided there, like “A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila.”
Stephanie: im uber happy they have more and more ppl are learning about Tokio Hotel in the US…but at the same time it really PISSES ME OFF! cuz i don’t want them to start getting fans that just are in to them cuz their looks…i know it sound really selfish..cuz i don’t what them to gee other fans…but their so amazing i wanted to have them all to myself! I LOVE GERMANS!…TOKIO HOTEL I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART AND NEVER STOP ON ROLLING MY WORLD! TOM…U R SO HOTT…CALL ME!

Hehe, it's funny when people react like that. As for me, I've gotten used to people poking fun at Bill and the guys. The generalization of 14-year-olds was untrue, but I don't find it offensive at all. I'm 16 myself and I have to say, alot of sixteen, seventeen and fifteen year-olds LOOK 14. That and teens have alot more of a desire to go to concerts to see their favorite bands than adults.

hi all TH fans. in regards to your comments if you all enjoy the music then stop fighting over it so someone is calling you all tweens i'm 14 and i don't even care about this stuff. i think we should all just unite as fans instead of fighting about it.what really matters is that we like the music. also i think its good to spread word of the band the work they do is worth it. they deserve to be known internationally, and so what if people are hysterical over their looks that doesnt mean they dont luvv the music it just means they think they are hott. so just stop fighting and unite as people who loves this music.the band does not want you guys to fight over it

Bill Kaulitz is simply amazing. I have cried everyday watching their shows and videos on youtube.Every single word in their lyrics touches me. Im tired of being here in Florida while they perform in New York and such, when I cant go see them. So mtv im asking you please please please find someway to get me to one of their shows! Grr, MTV I am mad at you...Tokio Hotel is a fantastic band with a very large fanbase. Their music is incredible and doesnt send out negative messages as do many artists nowadays. They are so huge and gifted, and to say they are a "pop-rock" band who only appeals to "14 year-olds and tweens" who are "hysterical" girls is so disrespectful! Yes, I am 14, but many of their fans are older. My mother is 40, and she even likes them. I know people from ages 11-40+ who LOVE Tokio Hotel. Not all their fans are crying girls who love them, and whats wrong with that anyway? So they are excited to see them and they are fans. Let them cry. But, some of us, are very mature. And Bill does not look like an "anime porcupine"! Whoever wrote these hurtful words about Tokio Hotel should be fired. They were rude, and hurtful not only to the band, but all their adoring fans. I think I speak on behalf of all their fans when I say MTV should re-write an article about them, that is POSITIVE and we will be happy to read over and over about our loved band. I'm not shocked the slightest bit to see the outrage coming from America. We deserve to be outraged....

I am sooo glad that MTV is helping TH so much, but please, stop making judgements about them and their fans. Just talk about their music. You're creating a false image of them. Yes, I know that many of us fans are a bit crazed, but Tokio Hotel is not about their fans, it's about their music. Leave the scaring people to us after they hear the music. TH is awesome. Yeah, they have some younger fans, but that just shows their music reaching a broader spectrum and not one target demographic like some other bands I could name. They've been huge in Europe for so long and so many people have been dieing to see them come to the states. And back off of Bill's appearance, as long as his pipes are good, who cares what he looks like?!

Um.. try world wide rock stars, and life savers, truly, the band was huge even before the english album, now even Simple plan has some competition... and life saver is exactly what it sounds like, I know people who decided not to off them selves because of Tokio Hotel, me being one of them.

Look I know all of their fans know how amazing they are but something that makes me feel so mad is that people say that they only have "14 years old fans". That isn`t true, and what`s the matter with that!! Is that a problem, well I don`t think so...
There are many fans from all over the world with many differences between ages, for example me, I am from Costa Rica and I know many people that like their music.And as I saw in one of those comments: all of us know each Tokio Hotel`s members have an unique talent, RECOGNIZED IT!!!!

I think that a lot of the viewer comments are right; most people that like TH are not tweens, their more mature and range a lot in age.
But I don't think that some people are trying to prove that point when in their post it talks about how hot the band is or how gorgeous they are.
First off: don't like a band because their hot. It should be the music that draws you in.
Second: If you're trying to prove a point on how mature you are, don't include that you think they are hot, just leave that out. It doesn't look good.

OK lets start off with the fact that neither Tokio Hotel themselves, or their entire fanbase population are considered "tweens". Yes, they are teenage girls who "love" tokio hotel and think they're so "hot" but Tom and Bill are 18, and Gustaw and Georg are older, 19 and 20! I absolutely love tokio hotel, and I know what love means, and I'm using it in the right content. I have been with them since the begginning, even though I find them extremely attractive, I hate when people call them cute. BTW, MTV you should have them more often on your show, I mean you are a music channel!

I'm a pretty dedicated fan myself but I do have to agree with MTVnews. YES Tokio Hotel does have a largely underage fanbase and Yes these girls do take it overboard but you can't pin the actions of a few immature people on the whole fanbase in general.
Their actions don't in anyway reflect the way TH fans act as a whole. and it's extremely embarassing to have to sit here and try to validate the actions of some stupid obsessed, mindless girls (not tweens, girls) becuase it's not even the fact that most of these girls are young; their behaviour is soley based on how they are as a person. I, myself can say that I know a few older TH fans that could put any of these crying, screaming, hysterical girls to shame but thats not even the point.
All i'm trying to say is please, girls, guys, fans: act respectable, act like a human when it comes to these things because believe it or not you create the steriotype, the generalization, not fans like me.
No one wants to hear about the perfectly logical things that the more mature fans have to say, no, groups like MTVnews thrive on making a spectacle of things like this. and it doesn't look good.

some people say that any publicity is good publicity but I have to disagree. this is where i draw the line. Fan's are making their own publicity and it's not positive at all because of the afore mentioned "rabid tokio hotel fanbase".

I have to admit that I am a huge TH fan and I am 24.It is so unfair to classify TH fanbase.Obviously there are some 14 year old girls,can't stop screaming but come on people we are not all teenagers.I just bought couple of their cds and there isnt a single song I didnt like.Their lyrics really mean something.We need a little respect here.I am living in Norway and believe me we have a really huge number of fans here .My boss,my boyfriend,my friends love them.I just found out that my boss has Monsoon in his Ipod.They are so talented and they are only eighteen.They are not just bunch of kids from Disney Channel.They are doin rock for gods sake. Nowadays here in Europe everybody started speaking German thanks to them.German classes are full here in Norway.They achieved the unachievable thats for sure.I watched the Rock In Rio just 2 hours ago and believe me those guys were awesome live,they deseve it.Who cares if he looks a bit feminin ? I just love their music and I will keep on supporting and buying their CDs...

Okay first of all, not all of tokio hotel fans are tweens and also so what if some fans are tweens? Is it wrong for 11, 12, 13, 14 year olf girls who like their music? And don't go steriotyping those kind of fans their not always the ones screaming their head off at concerts, or have TH posters plastered on their walls. oo lookie crazies and chaos! indeed TH is indeed a really good band but is the crazy behavior really needed? scrolling through the comments i can see why TH fans are referred to as being "rabid", it is possible to still support a band with out crossing the line of becomming "crazy". i think if we tone done the "crazyness" that maybe we wouldnt be reffered to as being rabid and such.
