Nick Hogan, ne Nick Bollea, the 17-year-old son of former wrestler Hulk Hogan, was sentenced Friday (May 9) by a Florida judge for his role in the August car crash that left his best friend, John Graziano, critically injured, according to TMZ.com.
Pleading nolo contendere (or “no contest” for those of you who don’t watch 5 hours of “Law & Order” every night), the mini-Hulkster will serve eight months in jail, after which he will be put on five years’ probation. After his release from prison, Nick must perform 500 hours of community service, as well as complete a DUI school within his first year on the outside.
Finally, throughout his probation, Nick is prohibited from drinking alcohol of any kind.
In a statement to the court, Nick reportedly apologized to the victim’s family.
So was the jail sentence just? Too much? Too little? All I know is that Jack McCoy would have been a lot tougher on him. Sound off below.

You all are just jealous that he has grown up fortunate, he doesn't deserve to be punished because his dad is famous.
Stay strong and learn from this whole Bu!!$h!t retarded law suit by money hungry people.
Hulk, it would be cheaper to wack Linda !!!!!
This jacka** is the prototypical celebrity child, spoiled and self-centered. Most kids of celebrities become spoiled. They know they are somebody and have special privileges. It's the Hollywood aura. It takes a real good kid to be able to handle himself. Most of them can't. I hope this mini-Hulkster scumbag gets beaten to a pulp by the gang members in prison.
As to Hulk Hogan himself, I admired him as a performer, not a wrestler. He's not a wrestler, per se. He didn't know how to perfectly execute a headlock or a body scissors or a piledriver or any of the basic moves in wrestling. In fact, if Hulk Hogan and Ed "Strangler" Lewis or Lou Thesz were both in their primes, either Strangler Lewis or Thesz would've beaten Hogan in no time in a legitimate wrestling match.
Nick Messed up Big time and Did everything but kill the guy.His passenger should be able to get in the car with him and expect the OPERATOR of that vehicle to drive in a resonable manner so he doesnt end up brain dead .. lets see 8 months for a life ???? seems he got off cheap ..And I like the Hogans I think they are / were a well grounded family and nick made a really big error in his judement. his previous driving record shows he didnt have any respect for the system . and now he has to pay .....You want to dance you have to pay the fiddler
Thank you.
It's terrible that Graziano is brain dead, but we can't throw Nick away either. I figure he's got to do living for the both of them now.
Ted's idea sounds good; don't know about the sentencing requirements, however.
Everyone in this world has made mistakes some big,some small it's how you handle what you have done and if you learn from it that will
define you.....Nick you've become a man! how will you live the rest of your life? How will this make you a better person?
There is no correct punishment for this case,
everyone loses,except the media of course.
What really kills me is hulk got a father of the year award. I luv the hulk and all but damn come on. They really need to ban him from getting a license while he's on parole. And you know the hours are going to be rigged much like this whole thing.
But what really sucks is look at the msg this s*** is going to send to other people.
Has anyone bothered to look at the fact that Nick had been cited "numerous times" for speeding, reckless driving in the past ? An the last was not too long ago!!! Accidentews happen to ppl who are unaware or do not care of the outcome. Nick knew it was wrong to get behind the wheel (with his past driving experiences). Johns punishment for (lack of common sense) getting in the car with Nick, living the rest of his life normally. Nick's punishement..... Just? Hell No !!!!!!!!
I hope people are just assuming he wasnt drunk, because anyone who thinks he doesnt deserve to be punished and knew he was drunk is simply a horrible and disgusting human being.
Simon
* He was DRUNK
* AND underage
* He has PREVIOUS RECORDS of driving recklessly
* He was SPEEDING
* He did not make sure that his friend was wearing his seat belt
* NICK made the choice to DRIVE while his friend was not wearing a seatbelt
* He could have injured someone else
How could ANYONE possibly think that this sentence is too much? It's a shame that so many people think that he should get off practically clean. Yes, he has to live with the guilt that he destroyed his friend's life, but I don't think that means he should go off practically unpunished.
I also think that it's a shame that people are actually blaming this on the passenger. Yeah, the passenger made a mistake by getting in the car and not wearing a seatbelt, BUT WHO WAS DRIVING THE CAR? Who made the choice to drink, drive, go fast, and NOT MAKE SURE THAT HIS PASSENGER WAS WEARING A SEATBELT? That's right, nobody but Nick did. Unless someone was holding a gun to Nick's head, Nick had all of the power. He could have chosen not to drink, he could have chosen not to drive, he could have chosen not to take off without his passenger secured, he could have chosen not to speed, but what did he choose? He chose to act irresponsibly, and now he's paying the price.
And, again, he could have injured someone else as well. You can't just think about what did happen, you have to think about what COULD have happened as a result of this reckless behavior. All that should be taken account into punishment, because the point of punishment is to make sure that the perpetrator does not do it again, to prevent those other consequences. Someone innocent who had NO CHOICE AT ALL could have had their life destroyed because this jerk decided it'd be a good idea to drink and drive.
Also, to this person:
"Why the hell is Nick getting charged as an adult thats what I want to know since he is only 17??????"
Oh PLEASE, you have GOT to be kidding me. His birthday is in JULY, he'll be 18 in only 2 months. Even if he had only just turned 17, you've got to be kidding me if you believe that he shouldn't be charged as an adult. If he's adult enough to legally drive a car, he should be adult enough to FACE THE CONSEQUENCES of acting irresponsibly.
As to the fact that he must not drink any alchohol while on probation.....well, at least he'll be of legal age when he finishes it.
The sentence was not just, it was not fair, and it fixes NOTHING.
Now, if they made him go to nursing school and become the caretaker for his "friend" for the rest of his life, THEN you might have a fair sentence.
Even if his friend didn't wear a sit belt, as the driver of the car he should have insisted that his friend wear one. After all it is the law.
If he was a good boy... or rather a smart boy he wouldn't put himself, his friend and others in harm. I say others because he could've crashed into someone else, and there could have been more fatalities.
That is why there is a speed limit, it's for the safety of everyone. Too bad he didn't learn that the first time he got a speeding ticket.
... ?? Other people in this position have gotten slightly more and the judge is being way too HARSH on this sentence? What, do you want him to sit on a throne and get his feet washed as punishment or something??? Oh yes, let's reward this idiot for his stupidity, GREAT IDEA!
