Nick Hogan Gets Jail Time For August Car Crash
billatmic

Nick Hogan, ne Nick Bollea, the 17-year-old son of former wrestler Hulk Hogan, was sentenced Friday (May 9) by a Florida judge for his role in the August car crash that left his best friend, John Graziano, critically injured, according to TMZ.com.

Pleading nolo contendere (or “no contest” for those of you who don’t watch 5 hours of “Law & Order” every night), the mini-Hulkster will serve eight months in jail, after which he will be put on five years’ probation. After his release from prison, Nick must perform 500 hours of community service, as well as complete a DUI school within his first year on the outside.

Finally, throughout his probation, Nick is prohibited from drinking alcohol of any kind.

In a statement to the court, Nick reportedly apologized to the victim’s family.

So was the jail sentence just? Too much? Too little? All I know is that Jack McCoy would have been a lot tougher on him. Sound off below.

  1. He deserves more time and not in a jail, in an actual prison, where he could be killed just like anyone on the road could have been that faithful night. Shame on his father for allowing him to have access to booze and cars like that @ 17! I find it hard to believe that I was more scared of my parents than he is of his... mine were powerless nerds, not large scary steroid heads... speaking of heads shame on him for wearing that thing on his head in court how disrespectful and tacky!
  2. The little p**** got off easy. Anyone else would be doing years in Jail. It is only because he is Hulk Hogan's kid...Nick's friend goes to a war zone in Iraq and comes home to being a vegetable.
  3. I think that the punishment fit. I'm sorry, I loved the show and have been a Fan of Hulk Hogan for many years. Nick did a really stupid thing that almost cost someone their life. He should get the jail time. You would have thought that his parents being as protective as they are with Brooke would have harped on Nick the importance of being safe in a vehicle. The first time he got in trouble for speeding his license should have been revoked if not from the court system then from his parents. It was irresponsible of them to allow him to race cars as a career when they knew he couldn't handle driving a car on the road. The whole thing is very sad. I'm glad that there was a judge who wasn't going to take Nick's celebrity into consideration and give him special treatment, a la Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton fiasco.
  4. Okay he was wrong! Someone got hurt really bad and Nick needs to be punished .I know that! Nicole Richie gets off and honestly dosen't really get no time in jail. So what she didn't crash into anyone. or Have anyone in the car that could have got hurt? The point is she was driving under the influence and she really didn't get punished. I think it's wrong for a guy to get treated differently than a girl. People really need to be fair when it comes to justice! HOLD YOUR HEAD UP NICK. MAKE BETTER CHOICES NEXT TIME BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE EASLY BEEN YOU INSTEAD OF YOUR FRIEND. But really Nicole Richie should still be in jail!
  5. #1 - jail and prison are not synonymous words. completely different...

#2 - 8 months in a jail means he'll probably only serve about 4 months, if even that, he got sent to Pinellas county jail which if you google is grossly over populated.
  6. NOOOOOOOOO,It is NOT enough time!Nick was handed everything on a silver platter. It's sickening to see all these people who have money and who could contribute to society in a better way, your not above the law Nick!I bet if that was you laying in the hospital bed your parents would use their last dollar to see justice was served. You'll serve 8 months your friends sentence is lifetime! We can only hope you'll never forget the pain and heartache you caused everyone involved, what was it for?Showing off,the thrill? You must pay for your stupidity,THINK!
  7. 8 years not 8 months would have been more apropriate. His CARELESS actions caused someone to lose all quality of life and millions in medical expenses. This sets a very bad precedence that you can act w/out cause and not be held accountable. The punishment should fit the Crime. The Victim is serving a life sentence thus the court should have acted accordingly towards precedence.
  8. Personally, I think he didn't get enough time. On "Hogan Knows Best", it showed Nick driving before he even received his driver's permit. He even was repremanded by the police for driver too fast, when he was (I believe) 14!
I think deep down he is a good kid, but I really think he should of gotten a harder sentence. 8 months?? That is nothing. He should of been given the full sentence of reckless driving involving serious bodily injury (a 3rd degree felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison plus fines).
  9. That little punk should have gotten 1000 hours community and 3 years prison.
  10. The one thing everyone seems to be ignoring is that yes this was Nick's fault and he should be punished. But he was NOT RAISED by his parents! Encouraging your underage child to speed race and not seem to care when he drove like a madman AS A MINOR is NOT PARENTING. I hope his parents feel terrible as they are as much to blame if not more so than Nick. They taught him NOTHING about responsibility. They obviously didn't care about him either as what kind of mother/father lets their child do something so dangerous...not only LET it happen, but ENCOURAGE the behavior. It all, of course, goes back to the entire family's lack of education...which stands out like a sore thumb.
  11. Nick's friend new Nick had been drinking and he chose not to put his seat belt on.

Its a very sad situation but hopefully Nick will learn a lesson from this - whereas his friend... well it wont be as easy for him to move on.

Im sure the family will pull through. The Hulk is a cool guy.
  12. No way is Nick's sentence enough,he has been stopped how many times for speeding? And his last time was what?two weeks before this accident? He doesn't seem to comprehend drinking+speeding=death
I can't begin to express my anger!I know all to well the end results of an out of control driver.
My Mother was hit from behind and her sentence was being made a Quadripalegic and Ventilator Dependent she lived for 1&1/2 years she passed away the day after my birthday !!!! So 8 months is a slap in the face to the friend and his family
You are responsible for anyone you allow in your vehicle !!Now Nick take responsibilty!I'd be curious to see how much compassion and friendship will continue on Nick's behalf if this young man survives,it's easier for Daddy & Mommy to write out a check.
  13. "Finally, throughout his probation, Nick is prohibited from drinking alcohol of any kind."

He's 17 years old, isn't he prohibited from drinking alcohol by law regardless of his crime?
  14. What I can tfigure out is this guy could go race anytime he wanted...on a track. Why does he have to put everyone else at risk? Irresposible
  15. All this time I was thinking about how horrible Nick's actions were, I forgot about the fact that his friend was not wearing his seat belt. He maybe would have just had a few broken bones if it weren't for that bad decision. I also agree with the MTV article which says that John obviously knew what kind of driver Nick was before he got into the car with him.
  16. i hope sodomania runs wild on this obnoxious little #%?*?
  17. This is absolutely ridiculous. He's the Hulkster's son! I say let him go. He won't do it again.
  18. Nick gets more chicks then his dad!!!
  19. I think that the judge gave him a really harsh punishment for the accident. I think that he should have had to pay for all the medical bills for his friend and pay a 1500 dollar fine instead of jail time. The community service was a little unfair as well, in my opinion he should still get the community service but not as long. I don't think that he should be cleared of all the charges because he put someone elses life in danger while under the influence and underage.
  20. This is a joke right?Because Nick Bollea is Hulk
Hogans son people seem to think he was given a harsh punishment.A 17 year old has no business DRAG RACING let alone drinking and driving.
What am I missing here?Nick drank, drove, wrecked and left his friend John Graziano PERMANENTLY BRAIN DAMAGED !!!!And 8 months is a harsh punishment?
What if that were your Father,Brother,Mother,or
Sister laying there? What would you say then? It's
quite apparent that many of you have not been in such similar situations or you'd see a different
    side of this.
Watching someone trying to take a breath while on
a ventilator is a very horrific thing to wittness
and when it's a loved one and your seeing all the
things Doctors are doing to help,no words can express the pain that John &the Graziano's are going through !!!!!No NICK DOESN"T EVEN BEGIN TO
COMPREHEND WHAT PAIN & HEARTACHE IS,NICK LOOSES HIS FREEDOM FOR 8 MONTH"S JOHN LOOSES HIS FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. he shouldn't have gotten that much, he could have shot someone in the head and got that much time. he was made an example of because of who he is. total b.s.
  22. Way to much!! They were both involved equally in the accident! F*%k all judges, lawyers, D.A.'s, police, the whole freakin' system!! They're all also equally twisted, corrupt, cheaters and pieces of horse-S*%t!! This country has become so god dam pussyfied with no cahones!
  23. What if the shoe was on graziano's feet would he have gotten the same sentence? Don't think he would have, he would have the book thrown at him. I bet the hogans would have procecuted graziano and would have went to prison for 10 years. First violation drinking underage Second violation driving drunk third violation drag racing Forth violation best friend a vegetable for life. When he gets out of jail, I bet there will be a huge party, A brand new race car in the driveway and life will go on as normal as his best friend lay in a vegative state that nick at first will visit but as time goes on will not have time to visit because he is busy in his own life and eventually forgotten about. Just a thought: what if your son was lying there and you see nick in fancy this fancy that HOW WOULD YOU FEEL!!!
  24. Are you people insane???!!!
Nick should have got years not months in jail. If it were you or I behind the wheel that day, you better believe that we would have gotten the max. Nick is a punk that deserves to be locked up for decades. I hate Nick, always have. Poor spoiled little rich boy.
  25. Nick Hogans sentence was pretty harsh. I feel that he should not get punished for the other guys injury. I do understand that was his bestfriend, but he should have gotten at least 5 years probation and 8 months of community service... Even though alot of people may think other wise... I bet if it was your son, nephew, or cousin, you wouldnt feel this way. THIS SENTENCE WASNT JUSTICE...(TO ME)
  26. However, if the shoe was on the other foot, i believe that i was be pissed off @ nick hogan. But by harsh punishment won't bring his bestfriend out of his comma.... YES,I KNOW NICK WAS DRINKING... THAT SHOULD BE THE REASON WHY HE IS GETTING SOME JAIL TIME. But if anything Nick @ the least should get 4months.

I've lost my uncle do to the fact that he was racing w/ another man and the man side swiped my uncles car and a tree went thru his car and knocked off his head....
The guy didnt get no time @ ALL...
My reason for writting this is b/c, you people dnt understand that, some people get off w/o doing no time.
Have a heart... B/C thats somthing that my family has to live w/ for the rest of our lives...
You dnt have to go calling Nick "SOME OLD RICH KID"... Nick cant help that he was born w/ money or he has parents that is willing to look out for him.... Only GOD CAN JUDGE NICK your opinion doesnt matter to NICK OR GOD... REMEMBER THAT!
  27. The bad thing is so many more are affected by this tragedy than just nick and his friend, I hope this does not turn into a way for his family to get taken adavantage of because of who they are, restitution has to be made but im sure they willsue for a large amount.
  28. Anyone who feels Nick got screwed on his sentence deserves to have someone THEY love critically injured by some dumb-ass, over-privelaged , celebrity offspring in a senseless car wreck. Sure, everyone makes mistake. A mistake is bumping the next guy's car when parellel parking. Diminishing what this pathetic, drunken, balding, little goober did by calling it a "mistake" is like calling OJ's murderous rampage a "temper tantrum". Justice was NOT served. This jerk-off needs prison time and his license revolked until he's at LEAST 30. You people need to get real.
  29. A mistake is bumping the next guy's car when parellel parking. Diminishing what this pathetic, drunken, balding, little goober did by calling it a "mistake" is like calling OJ's murderous rampage a "temper tantrum". Justice was NOT served.
  30. I think the jail sentence is a bit too harsh. yes his friend will never recover but it was his decision to get into the car. he knew nick was under the influence. it was a terrible decision on both of their parts that caused extreme consequences. Yes, i do beleieve that he needs to have a jail sentence...but 8 months? I think he has learned his lesson already and 8 months is just too long.
  31. This young man obviously made a horrible choice the night he got behind the wheel of that vehicle drunk. However the best statements I have seen in this post overall are the ones that ask why is everyone giving Nick a hard time for this, it's obvious no one was twisting his arm to get him in the car with Nick WHO WAS AN INTOXICATED MINOR. Come on be real people your giving Nick a hard time when truthfully his buddy is just as guilty if not more. He was older and a United States Marine surely as a Marine the guy wasnt that f*****! stupid. Then again he is a Marine...
  32. wow,he got what he deserved!! If it was any normal person the judge would of threw the book at them.He is such a lame person.
  33. What I think doesn't matter here. Two lives have been changed forever because both of these guys made decisions that night. My comment on this is to just pray for both the families of John and Nick and stop being so critical about what the sentance was. After all they are both being punished just in different ways. Nick will have to live with this for the rest of his life and that is just as bad as what his (brother) John is going through. The guilt of what he has done on his concious for the rest of his life will end up being his real punishment. Please pray for both of these guys and hope you never make the mistake they did.
  34. Let's hope and pray the time Nick spends in jail will wisen him up.Though I have serious doubts,
when your given everything and never have to work or be accountable you never truly apperciate what you have.True two young mens lives were changed forever, but they will not be punished or suffer the same, one man will get to go on with his life,
hopefully for the better and perhaps marry and have children. While the other young man is left
permanently brain damaged, the out come on his life is drastically different than Nicks. If by the grace of God John survives he may or may not be able to be rehabilated.(And the cost of rehab
is out of this world)he may never speak again or
be able to walk or care for himself ever.Nick's
prison term is for 8 months but Johns prison term is forever.I would be interested in knowing who
provided the alcohol to a minor,a bar? or did he get it at home like his fathers car??
  35. think about one family member you love. imagine they were permanently mentally paralyzed for the rest of their life in a car wreck driven by a 17 year old drunk driver. 8 months....is about 1/10th what it should have been.

i dont care if he is jesus...he needs to be in jail for a long time, for pretty much ending someone else's life.
  36. we need to remember that nick is a child and yes he did made a mistake but why is he paying for not making a adult wear his seat belt i understand that he was speeding but they both made bad choices. i watch the hearings and nick tries very hard to reach out to john family i just really hope this isnt a way for johns family to try and make some money
  37. Why is it whenever any young person gets into trouble the first words uttered are oh,their just a child it was an accident,or a mistake?Yes John didn't have a seat belt on.But THE DRIVER OF A VEHICLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL WHO ARE IN HIS CAR.
Nick chose to underage drink,Nick chose to drag race the Viper(after he had been stopped numerous times for speeding even a few weeks prior to the this accident)I had only watched a few episodes of Hogan knows Best but it seemed to me like the children were quite spoiled, and all the antics Nick pulled and got away with his parents they never seemed to follow through on any punishments it was like boys will be boys attitude. Now look at the problems the family is facing.Yes the Graziano family will sue and they deserve any and all monies the will receive for John.I know all to well the expenses they will incure,Insurance companies only pay out so much,or for so many days then your sent to rehab,Again you have so many days.If you can't go home your only other option is a nursing facility (nursing home)and believe me when I tell you none of the above is cheap! And how many of the everyday Joes have that kind of money laying around?Johns family looking for a way to make money,,,I think not I believe the would take their sons health and well being over any amount of money any day...I know in our situation we would have!!!!!!!
  38. Many years ago my nephew was killed by a drunk driver who happened to be his best friend. Although he was charged with vehicular manslaughter, because 1 young man will never walk again and 2 young men lost their lives (the driver went to school the next day) he was freed because his family attorney stated that "this young man made a mistake and he shouldn't pay for it, for the rest of his life". He has had several DUI's since. We live in a sad world where no one there is no accountability.
  39. you know what man seriously ya mofos aint got nothing else better to do. Alot of you guys say he depends on daddy... and all this bull hes yung and hes experiencing life thats what teenagers do yea its a shame hes friend is in the hospital but s*** happens if ya dad was rich ya depend on him to dont act stupid... leave them be just because they are famaous and s*** ya want to be in ppls life live your own life man they dont pay your bills they dont live with ya. MAN BUNCH OF IGNORANTS
  40. heather, I really hope that everything you wrote was a joke because if it wasn't you get a cookie because I am very proud of you for being able to use a keyboard
  41. This is a tragedy for both the kids - however, the biggest of the tragedies is that the friend will never be the same again - he, however, CHOOSE not to put a seatbelt on. But bear in mind, this is NOT the first time Nick has been in trouble for speeding........
One more thing, why does everybody keep relating this back to his Daddy - he had NOTHING to do with it - kids will do, what kids will do, no matter how they are bought up
  42. The funny or not so funny thing is on an episode of Hogan Knows Best Terry made Nick go to the police station to watch a video tape of what can happen to people who speed. Nick has always been speeding. He deserves more time if you ask me. He da.n near killed someone. Bet one of use couldn't get away with just 8 months for this.
  43. way too much. accidents happen. he is young and was given everything, he probably didnt know any better. he is not a "criminal" not like the rest of the people he will be stuck there with. the experience of prison could possibly ruin his life. its not like paris hiltons stunt. this is serious jail time. it should be house arrest. along with the guilt he surely has, he is punished.
  44. well it dont help when your parents go to all of the street racing groups with you and when you get a waring from one cop then five minutes later gwet busted again. my parents would kill me if i got that many speeding tickets and wouldn't have a car anymore. STUPID!!!
  45. 8 months in jail is too long. It's not like he forced his buddy to ride along in the car with him without his seat belt. I am sure if he felt unsafe and asked to get out Nick would have let him out. This is a case of two buddies having a good time, and neither one of them ever expected something like this to happen. Hell, I bet if John could talk he'd probably tell them to lay off Nick because his own dumb ass that got in the car and his own dumb ass that didn't put on his seat belt. Nick did not hold him against his will and I therefore see no reason that he should be doing so much jail time. The idea that he should be held accountable because his friend made the CHOICE to ride with him without a seatbelt is ludicrous, and the idea that some people are calling this a slap on the wrist and saying the justice system is out of whack is even more ludicrous.
  46. He got what was due
  47. got less than he deserved, i'm always amazed at the lenient sentences you have in the states, he should have got at least 10 years in a full prison, with a bit of luck he'll mess up his probation and get sent back for more time.
  48. I know people who have received 5 years for a similar act. He got off way too light!!! But we all know why...had it been one of us regular Joe's, we'd be rotting away for at least a couple of years.
  49. The bad thing is that Nick has to live with the fact that He has created these problems and live with his best friend being seriously injured. I believe that everyone has to be responsable there actions. The sentenance might be a bit long however I think we need to consider the victom as well
will he ever be able to work again??

if he cant what about all the bills, housing, food, etc?

its a loose loose no matter how you look at it
  50. I think the sentence was fair. If it had been anyone one of the millions of average americans who had been in Nick's shoes they would have gotten an even longer sentence.
He's a spoiled rich kid who thinks he's a badass, and the rule don't apply to him. I hope this is a real wake up call. The only one I feel sorry for is his buddy who is going to be getting coloring books for xmas for the rest of his life.

Nick has had a history of driving at excessive speeds, and in this case dong so while intoxicated. He made the choice, he needs to suffer the consequences of his actions. I don't feel bad for the guy. He's getting off light with the sentence that he got. The real punishment is going to be the guilt for the rest of his life.
