All hands on deck! Once again, the MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust members are picking, sorting and battling over their choices for the top 10 Hottest MCs in the Game. They are considering everyone who has been active from the time of the highly controversial first “Hottest MCs in the Game” — which published in July of last year — up until now.
The artists are being judged on lyrics, flow, swagger and overall impact. You’ll get to see the Brain Trust go at it again on Friday, May 16, at 10 p.m. ET on MTV, when MTV News Presents the second edition of “The Hottest MCs in the Game.”
Obviously, true hip-hop fans will have more than a mouthful to say after the results are in — but why wait? We’re giving you the chance to have your say right now: While we encourage you to send in your full top 10, right now we want you to participate in this poll and tell us your pick for the #1 Hottest MC in the Game right now.
Please note: This audience poll will have no impact on the Brain Trust’s final top 10, but the results will be included in our coverage.

G-Unit/50 Cent - Terminate On Sight and Before I Self Destruct are definitely very anticipated, not to mention, they are holding down the Underground Hip Hop right now
Prodigy of Mobb Deep - He got arrested, went to jail for 3 years and STILL came out with a hotttttt a** album - H.N.I.C. PT 2, If you dont got it, you better go out and grab it - Hot album, and finished mixtapes before he went to jail. Nice to see the Young Veteran is still in action. FREE P!!
Snoop Dogg - His New Album was hot, but not as hot as it could have been. that My Medicine country redneck rap was kinda stupid, but the rest was hot.
T.I. - He's about to do 1 year in prison and 1000 hours of community service, but his albums are good, have good songs on them.
Ludacris - He hasnt been active for like 2 years now, but he's definitely great. His Theatre Of The Mind album was supposed to come out in 07, but it didnt. If it did, i sure as hell missed it, and if he did, then why didnt def jam put alot of money into marketing one of thier best people?
Talib Kweli - His Hostile Gospel s*** was HOT, but he isnt making enough noise to be number 1.
Lupe Fiasco - Definitely got some hot songs, some garbage, but you cant expect everyone to be 100 percent likeable. Dispite his hot songs, the same thing i said for Talib Kweli - Just not making enough noise.
Jay-Z - His new American Gangster album was type hot. That Roc Boy's song was the worst song ive heard though. But yeah, it was hot, but not the hottest
People on this list that SHOULDN'T be on it.
Kanye West - Despite him selling more units than 50 on that 2 day s***, his album was horrible. I couldnt stand that techno-pop-Gucci-Rich-Flashing lighs bulls*** he had. The ONLY song that was good on that album was "Can't Tell Me Nothin'"
Game - Game's last album sucked, and his new albums singles suck too. He's Garbage. Saying Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Busta Rhyme's names on tape over and over again in every song isnt going to make you a legend
Joe Budden - Joe Budden got on this list for what? Getting dropped by Def Jam? He got fired by Jay-Z, cus he hasnt come out with an album since 2002 and now that n**** is the hottest mc? no.
Lil Wayne - Lil Wayne, everyones watching for that n****'s new album, everyone's lookin at that s***, hes definitely hyped up, but still. You cant be the hottest mc if you stealin other peoples lines, and then ontop of that you recycling old lines. Just No Way.
Fabolous - Fab's album was ok...there was a couple of good songs...but for the most part, it kinda sucked. especially that song he did with Jermaine Dupri. that s*** was whack as hell, and he was off beat and everything....So no.
Soulja Boy Tell 'Em - That stupid little kid can't POSSIBLY be number 1. There's no way, no how. Heeeellllllll to the no. Come up with lyrics, rap about what you know about, stop chanting, no dances, none of that. That's NOT Hip Hop. If you go with him MTV, I SWEAR you will have ruined your whole station to all hip hop fans
REAL hip hop fans. not soulja boy whack fans.
Nas - Nas is washed up now. He knows it. You can tell by how he names the albums controversial stuff to get attention to his projects - Hip Hop is dead, and N***er? See the desperation? If he would go back to his older stuff, then he could be great again. but for now, No.
Shawty Low - Homeboy is whack as HELL. That song Dey Know is soooooooooo stupid. no
Flo Rida - He definitely makes hot songs, but he's new to the game. just came in. he cant possibly be the number 1 mc just cus he had 2 hit songs - Low, and Elevator - become hits. Till you at least come out with a second or third album, thats when he has a chance. but no.
Fat Joe's new album had only 3 good songs on it. And even so, 50 Buried him with his mixtapes.
People who SHOULD be on there

KRS One
Busta Rhymes
Jim Jones

ROCK MUSIC IS WACK
I voted for Lupe. This kid's lyrics is sick on some philosophical level. Next to Kanye and LUDACRIS (which I'm suprised noone has voted), Lupe got time on his hands cuz of his age and is making himself known in other countries.
Ask yourself you make a vote, "Who has more credits in the states and in other countries?"
you stans think he is the greatest. Man is a joke
i used to listen to his music back in the day.
I thought this MC list was about rap music, not R&B bulls***. How you gonna throw flo rida even up there.
Anyone who reads about rap, about what people say do, man lil wayne even said he not rap anymore, hes R&B.
Anyone who LISTENS to rap, or true mc's, lyrics, knows lil wayne is a joke. Carter 3? cd is gonna be wack as hell. How he gonna come off making R&B 14 year old white girl songs such as lollipop when his stans are claiming hes the best RAPPER alive. A millie? you serious? anyone listen to the lyrics? first line you know its a flop. Listen to real rap music, not what the crowd is following, Lil wayne is a joke now.
Talib Kweli - eardrum, CD was fire.
Not a nas fan, his new songs pretty ill tho.
Not a game fan, or ice cube fan anymore, but gotta admit their new music is pretty dope, and game has some serious talk about him right now.
Definatly voting for TI tho, he is the king of the south F*** WAYNE.
listen to hunt em down, s***'s raw... Paper trail will be 10x better then lil wayne's country/R&B bulls*** carter 3. No talent fool needs to get off the drugs/syrup, get back to producing quality music. But he never will again because little white folks hear a new lil wayne song and think its the greatest song to be made. No matter the lack of lyrical skill, or lyrical sense in the song.
Wake UPPP!!!
GHOSTFACE KILLAH is killing all of them. Big Doe Rehab was 10 times better than any hip hop album released in 07'. track for track compare it to Graduation or any top album of the year contenders.
I got to give some props to Lupe Fiasco though.
Just wait until more Wu-affiliated stuf drops this year. Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 with production from RZA & Dr. Dre. ST888888 concrete FIRRREE. Raekwon is a beast in itself then add bomb production from those 2 top producers. I'm really anticipating this album.
As for other Wu, Method Man (All time underrated rapper) will be dropping his Crystal Method album as well as Blackout 2 with Redman. Damn, then we will be back with real hiphop, not techorap like kanye, or nerdcore with lupe, or poprap with 50, or southern rap like lil' wayne. REAL HIP HOP straight from Stanton Island. Wu Tang Forever b****es.

comments are running off the
screen a good chunk
of every comment line is lost.
A comment about the Roots: I
too was initially puzzled by Black
Thought not given the opportunity
be selected for a top spot,
especially with rappers with a
fraction of his talent up there but
I had to step back and think about
the criteria for making the list and
list's nature itself. Black Thought
has it all but "MAINSTREAM IMPACT",
which, given the nominees, is the
true criterion when it comes to
"impact." The Roots
are #6 on the charts with their
latest album, BT's flows are always
tight, he is variable in his delivery,
the content is always relevant and
well-planned, he can rock a
show on a level few are capable, he
has longevity and crazy swagger, but
I must concede that he isn't moving
the main stream rap culture. He
doesn't have that main-stream impact
or appeal that those out there with
undeniably less talent as MCs have.
Though sad, this can't be denied.
You can see through out the list
MCs with modest ability but have
at least a threshold level of
mainstream exposure.
I think Styles P is only up there
as an honorable mention for his
Bad Boy days, the recognizability
he had with the Lox, and that he
is far more respected in the
game than Sheek Louch and Jada Kiss.
Now look at Talib Kweli;
do you think he'd be a candidate
if not for his connection to Kanye
West and the modest mainstream
success he has had in recent years
due to it. I don;t call these two
as weak rappers bc they aren't but
I am highlighting two rappers many
would consider not squarely in the
mainstream, in your ear, nor in the
public eye, much like The Roots/
Black Thought, but have made the
consideration list. I think that BT
is superior to both as MCs but loses
in mainstream presence.
Remember kids, music,
especially main stream rap music,
is less art than business.
You know what it's about. The
Hottest MC is not just bragging
rights for the 10 selected, its a
platform used by MTV, music labels,
and the like to focus the consumers'
attention and income towards
the chosen ones. True hip-hop
has no place here because true
hip-hop has never been about
striving for money for money's sake.
No one can deny Black Thought
or the Roots' game, they're in a
class of their own. Black
Thought's snub only reaffirms his
Hip-Hop credentials, which will
always top the list!
