    where's common's name? if you'd put 50 cent's name on the list (i don't know what people like about his rhyming- some of the beats to his songs are nice, but his rhyming is less than impressive), then common should be on the list. at least common likes the music he's making while 50 cent is just trying to get paid. heck, he should get a desk job if all he wants is money. there's nothing in his music that makes me feel like he gives a rats behind about anything... i digress. without making this a popularity contest (popularity doesn't equal talent)... i think no one can really touch andre 3000, lil wayne, common, nas and talib kweli. i think jay-z is impressive too, but i'm not particularly a fan of his songs. i think their lyrical delivery and composition are unparalleled. plus, they actually sound like they enjoy rhyming, like they enjoy the music they're making. they put thought into it and it makes me feel their music. it's like comparing britney spears to jill scott- britney's more popular, but jill's delivery means something. one of the hottest rap songs i've heard recently was lil wayne's "i'm me." i wasn't really a lil wayne fan before i heard that song... that was really an impressive record and it made me look at him differently. i got chills when i listened to the passion in his voice- mcs now aren't willing to go there with their delivery. i love nas, but he loses a few points for me somewhat, because it comes across like he's trying too hard to be provocative. just be nas and that provocation would come across without effort. he's done it before!

    I loved Lil Wayne in the first 2 Hot Boys albums, Tha Block is Hot, and How You Luv That Vol.1 and 2, but now... bleh. His voice is still unique, but he needs to go back to writing lyrics instead of free styling everything. For example, "I miss my Dawgs" - that's his probably best lyrical piece ever, but he wrote that long before Carter dropped. Look at his lyrics now... no meaning, and no sense.
