First the good news: Amy Winehouse has reportedly fired her hairdresser and good pal, Alex Fodden, because her management team wants to rid her inner circle of people who have a bad influence on the singer. Wait, she had a hairdresser? Really? Wow. Fodden was arrested with Winehouse and her incarcerated hubby, Blake Fielder-Civil, on suspicion of possessing drugs in Norway last year.
Then, as always with Winehouse, the avalanche of not-so-good news: We told you last week about the singer pocketing $2 million for a 60-minute show organized by the girlfriend of Russian investment billionaire Roman Abramovich, the 16th-richest man in the world. Well, apparently the show didn’t go off so well. According to reports, the Thursday show at the opening of a gallery in Moscow was a Winetastic disaster. After jetting over from London, Winehouse was said to have arrived in the Russian capital “in no condition to appear” for the 10:30 call time for the gig at the Garage, according to the New York Daily News.
Party organizers scrambled in vain to find a replacement, to no avail. (What? Pink was too busy? Rihanna’s ringer was turned off? C’mon, you’re the 16th-richest man in the world!) They looked on as Winehouse’s handlers tried to get the singer in shape to perform. Then, at around 12:30, Winehouse finally made it to the venue, the Daily News reports, “wobbling onto the stage down a red carpet lined with red lights, which guided her like a damaged aircraft down a runway.”
Much Coke-sipping, cigarette-smoking, dress-tugging and lighter-flinging ensued, as Winehouse proved two things: 1) She wasn’t wearing underwear. 2) She can still put on a “terrific” show, even if she’s a bit “sloppy.” Sounds like a typical Wino gig to us, frankly.
One singer you can’t accuse of being sloppy in the least is British sensation Leona Lewis, who has reportedly trumped the disheveled Winehouse in the race to snag the coveted theme song to the next James Bond flick, the horribly named, “Quantum of Solace.” No confirmation yet, but Lewis totally fits the Bond profile for sexy, female R&B singers, so we’ll let you know if and when the deal has been nailed down.
