
· The jury's still out on what Amy Winehouse's early-stage emphysema diagnosis means, but it's still shocking that the singer was apparently photographed smoking on Monday after her dad revealed that she might be suffering from the deadly lung disease.
· He's been caught impersonating a federal agent and busting through a security gate, popped by traffic cameras for allegedly setting land speed records in a car with his name written across the windshield and just about every other driving offense you could imagine. So it wasn't surprising to hear that DMX (born Earl Simmons) was arrested Monday afternoon in Miami on a warrant for not having a driver's license.
· The Smashing Pumpkins are prepping an expanded version of their 1991 debut, Gish, featuring some even older material as well. The box set is due out later this year, but no details about the track listing have been announced yet.
· Makeda Barnes-Joseph, the woman who was shot by Remy Ma last year in the case that sent the rapper to prison for eight years, filed a $160 million civil suit against her former friend last week. In addition to going after the rapper, the suit names as defendants the rapper's label, Universal Music, and the bar the two were partying in before the incident, claiming they kept serving Remy Ma, even though she as visibly inebriated.
· You'll have to wait a few more weeks for Beck's Modern Guilt, but there are a couple of places to preview the music online. Play.com is streaming 30-second teasers of all 10 songs and Amazon.com just posted a trippy trailer with bits of the songs "Walls," "Youthless" and the title track.
· Boy George's planned summer U.S. tour was canceled after authorities refused to issue the former Culture Club singer a visa due to unresolved legal issues in England. George (born George O'Dowd) was arrested in London last year after a male escort accused him of false imprisonment.
· A two-disc Chemical Brothers best-of album, Brotherhood, is slated for release in September. In addition to 14 hits, the first disc will feature a new song with Spank Rock called "Keep My Composure," and the second disc will have 10 songs recorded under the alias Electronic Battle Weapons.
· We liked Shaq's albums about as much as his movies (meaning not at all), but we have to admit he got some sub-50 Cent shots in against ex-teammate Kobe Bryant in a recent freestyle.
· After a serious stroke and rumors of his death, Nate Dogg's bad year continued on Monday when he was arrested in Los Angeles for making "terrorist threats" against his estranged wife.
· The reunited Verve have dubbed their first album in nearly a decade Forth, and they've posted the first single, "Love Is Noise," on their MySpace page.
