Ever wonder what the heck an artist was thinking with their album-cover art? Well now, thanks to AlbumtArt.com, you can show how much better your artwork is than theirs — and have your version rated against the original.
Co-founder Steven Baughman said Radiohead's In Rainbows acted as his inspiration.
"It was partially inspired by the community that arose when Radiohead released their album digitally, and at first without artwork," he told MTV News via e-mail. "There were hundreds of custom album [covers] floating around, and some of them were amazing. It made us question why more artists don't allow their fans to create the artwork, especially now that music is mainly being listened to in digital formats and physical production isn't an issue."
Making its official debut at the Facebook Developers Garage Meeting in New York earlier this week, Album tArt also introduced its own Facebook application. By applying Album tArt to your profile, you can post your top-20 album picks while linking others to the site. (Voting on the Facebook site is still in development.)
