I've been waiting since the first iPhone to own one. I even made the iPhone commercial-song ringtone to put on my normal phone! Having a drop in price made the deal sweeter. But would standing in line Friday morning secure me the next model?
My plan - To wake up at 5:30 a.m. and be on line at 7 a.m. Reality - I hit snooze three times. Eventually, I rolled out of bed and made it to the train.
I arrived in Times Square to find a line around the corner of the AT&T store. I specifically didn't go to an Apple store because I knew the wait would 20 times longer.
I was number 63 in a line of more than a hundred. Arriving at 7:30 and waiting till 10:30, I passed my time by talking to an avid partyer who got there before me. Right as I approached the line, he told me he was out all night and never went to sleep. The slur in his voice made me believe him.
After a couple of hours in the line, the standing was making a breakfast beer sound good. By the time I got the "Jesus phone," I was thanking God the wait was over.
