Last night, we were invited to attend the Day26 album listening party for their upcoming album, Forever in a Day, and as interns, of course we seized the chance!
Although we usually stick to pop and rock artists, we ended up being more comfortable than we ever thought possible with stepping outside of our comfort zones into the R&B realm because when it comes down to it, we just love music. Arriving early, we grabbed spots on a large, plush couch and took in the environment on the 26th floor (cute, right?) of Atlantic Records: candlelight, flowers and a stunning view overlooking Sixth Avenue on a clear New York night.
We felt a little out of place at first, but once the music kicked in, we were loving every beat. As two of the youngest people in the room, it was interesting to look around at the others in attendance. Between the older professionals and the fresher faces in the biz, we'd say we found our place as the cute interns who discovered we definitely have room for R&B in our hearts.
We'd be remiss if we forgot to mention the most notable person in the room: Bad Boy President Harve Pierre. He was bumping to the music so hard we saw him dabbing his face down with a bar napkin!
Oh, we did have one complaint though: We were hoping Diddy or Day26 themselves would make an appearance, but no go. Oh well.
Still, we had a great time and would absolutely love to go to another album listening party. (Hint!) We also can't wait to jam to some Day26 in the clubs, especially because we can say we heard it first!
