One of the last places in the world you want to go if you're trying to watch what you eat is Atlanta, Georgia — there is way too much temptation. A down-home Southern meal in the A will knock you off your feet and have you floating on cloud nine; you're probably going to want to take a nap right after. Working for MTV News, I'm down in the A quite often. The city is a music mecca, so we have to go to where the stars make it happen. There are so many things I love about what I call my "third hometown," that I can't fit them all into one blog. I'll be checking in throughout the week to tell you about some of my other faves, but for today, let's stick to the food. Here are my top five places to eat in A-Town.

» Magic City - OK, it's a strip club, but they do have a kitchen. The scenery at Magic can't be matched by any eatery and, no joke, they have some great chicken wings up in there. Big up to my homie Young Jeezy, who've I've been there with quite a few times over the years.

You know it's bad when your nearly 70-year-old mom, who just recently got her first e-mail address, is asking you about "the Twitters." But while she's just discovering the micro-blogging widget of the minute, I'm already so fed up with it that I'm thinking of pulling the plug.

Why? Because some of you just won't stop! It doesn't matter if you're in the middle of an NBA game, watching President Obama address Congress, spying on your underwear-clad movie-star wife, interrupting tantric sex to tell us you're having tantric sex, zoning out of an MTV interview, giving a behind-the-scenes look at the #1 TV show during a commercial break or writing about being on Jimmy Kimmel's show while you're doing the show.

Seriously, focus at the task at hand, will ya? Especially you, Diddy.

Mixtape Monday kicked off Atlanta Week with Young Jeezy dropping Shield Gang 2: In the Shield We Trust with DJ Folk. The mixtape focuses on Corporate Thugz Entertainment as a team, not just Jeezy.

Is Lindsay Lohan adding "model" to her résumé? "Access Hollywood" reports that IMG would meet with Lohan if she's contractually free to do so. This comment followed Lohan's interview with Nylon, during which she said she'd love to model with the agency.

Sci-fi thriller beats bromance! Despite box-office attendance being down 6 percent, the lowest it's been in eight years, the Nicolas Cage thriller "Knowing" raked in $24.8 million, topping Paul Rudd and Jason Segel's comedy "I Love You, Man."

A weekend replete with Fleetwood Mac was exactly what I needed to detox from the wrangles and chaos that was MTV Spring Break 2009. Sure, I may have spent a full month's salary on my ticket, but it was worth every penny. I've fallen in love with indie-pop bands over the years like the Knife and Animal Collective, and recently I've fallen in a type of lust for hip-hop artists like Drake, Lil Wayne and Charles Hamilton, but my heart undoubtedly beats steady and strong for the classic rock I grew up with — specifically, Fleetwood Mac.

I've spent hours watching the video for "Silver Springs" from the Dance Tour, and I am obsessed with any DJ that mixes Fleetwood Mac along with the more "club-worthy" sounds of Kanye, Lady Gaga, Crystal Castles ... you get the picture. So, when I found out that Stevie, Lindsey, John and Mick (Christine McVie seldom performs with the band, except for an occasional U.K. appearance) were doing a Hits Tour, I dropped everything and bought tickets to two of their shows in the NY area.

It's a busy Monday in the newsroom, and here's just a sampling of today's stories.

The "Twilight" DVD came out this weekend and sold approximately 10 gazillion copies. OK, that might not have been the actual figure but still, many, many, many of you Twilighters were really psyched to watch the movie in the comfort of your own home.

More acts are rumored to have joined the Lollapalooza lineup! Lou Reed, the Decemberists, Tool and the Killers just might be playing alongside the legendary likes of the Beastie Boys, Depeche Mode and Jane's Addiction.

Lastly, congratulations again to M.I.A., not just for having a kid, but for giving him an awesome name. So, Ikhyd Edgar Arular Bronfman, welcome!

More to come tomorrow!

Twitter was abuzz with artists Tweeting from the South by Southwest festival this weekend, but frankly, that's been covered pretty exhaustively just about everywhere, so we thought we'd start off the week with a bunch of other notable Tweets. (Note: While some of these accounts have been verified as legitimate by the artists' publicists, it is possible that some are not.) ...

Best back and forth: If you're not following them already, get onboard with @JonahHill, @realSethRogen, and @danecook. While their Twitters might crowd your Twitterspace, you'll hear them discuss enticing topics such as Matt Damon's allegedly bisexual cousin, Tonya Harding (always a perfectly appropriate topic) and watch them feed insults to each other that you've been craving since the last bro-tastic flick, "Pineapple Express."

Jimmy Chamberlin

Almost from the moment they burst out of the fertile early 1990s Chicago alt-rock scene, the whispers about the Smashing Pumpkins were that they were a one-man show. Despite guitarist James Iha's considerable chops and pop songwriting sensibility, bassist D'arcy Wretzky's charismatically stoic persona and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin's jazzy yet muscular touch, the Pumpkins were and always would be singer/songwriter Billy Corgan's baby.

Now, thanks to this weekend's unexplained ouster of Billy's longtime foil and last fellow original member, Chamberlin, Corgan is truly the Axl Rose of alternative rock. He's the Trent Reznor of overblown guitar bands. The ... oh, you get the point.

Fans had already been a bit iffy about Corgan reuniting the "band" three years ago when he announced that he and Chamberlin would be touring (and recording) under the venerable group's name. But with at least 50 percent of the original members on board, many seemed willing to overlook it.

(Take a look at how the Smashing Pumpkins have changed over the years.)

If one man was to build a completely new musical genre, they would have to be pretty talented. Craig Brewer, the man behind films like "Hustle and Flow" and "Black Snake Moan," which positively seep with the music of the South -- both old and new -- is probably the man to produce it.

Brewer's new Memphis-based Web series $5 Cover exposes the nitty-gritty heart of a town with music flowing through its aorta. "I'd like to believe that Memphis should be a genre itself" Brewer points out.

This is not such an easy task when your town cradles rock acts like Lucero, hip-hop acts like Al Kapone and noirish crooners like Amy LaVere. How can so many genres co-exist as one?

"The $5 Cover show is really about Memphis. Yeah we have rap and yeah, we have rock and roll. And we have singer song writers, but I really like to believe that Memphis itself should be a genre. ... It's more of the spirit of the city is reflected in the sound."

But what is it about Memphis that really binds these musicians together?

I'm going to put it out there, and you can hate me if you want: I just watched Kanye West, and had the absolute best seat in the house. No joke. And by "Best", I mean seriously B-E-S-T. Like, about two feet directly in front of Kanye for the almost 30 song set.

And before you criticize me for being braggadocios, consider this: I've spent 5 days so far at SXSW working 20 hour days, lugging 50 pounds worth of camera equipment, and subsisting off of a diet of Doritos and lukewarm beer. Just putting it out there…

So I guess there's something to be said for Karma, because on my last day here in Austin, I arrived at the Levi's Fader Fort to shoot the G.O.O.D. Music Showcase, and got ushered waaaaay up front to the press pit. I had heard rumor that Kanye would be showing up, but hadn't heard anything concrete. Apparently I wasn’t the only one to hear the rumor, because the venue was absolutely packed, and a line snaked down the block. Read More...

You might not be aware of this if you are one of the 9 million wussy indie dudes here in Austin for South By Southwest, but in addition to having a rather amazing music scene (which is documented in director Craig Brewer's upcoming Web series, $5 Cover), Memphis is also home to a pretty terrific college basketball team, too: the University of Memphis Tigers.

The Tigers finished the regular season 33-3, won their fourth-straight Conference USA title, and earned a #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Oh, and on Saturday night, they beat the University of Maryland to advance to the Sweet 16. This is a big deal, trust me.

So naturally, when MTV News came out to cover a Memphis Music Showcase at the Dirty Dog Bar (featuring $5 Cover artists like Lucero, Al Kapone and Two Way Radio), I had to ask some of the best musicians in M-Town about the fortunes of their hometown team. Were they overcome with the fever-like symptoms of March Madness like I was? And did they like the Tigers to win it all?

Of course. Well, at least the ones who had any idea what I was talking about, anyway ...
