American Idol Top 7Does anyone really need to hear yet another "American Idol" contestant sing "Turn the Beat Around"? Tonight's disco theme is another reminder that "Idol" has begun to scrape the bottom of the barrel when it comes to theme nights.

Last year's theme weeks included the first trip through the Lennon/McCartney songbook, another "Year They Were Born" night, as well as the rehash of inspirational songs, a Neil Diamond night and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame themes. In years past, we've had nights devoted to the British Invasion, American classics, Bon Jovi, Queen, love songs and Elvis Presley. All fine themes, but at this point, the show is running on fumes when it comes to mixing things up.

I understand that there are always issues with getting songs cleared for the program, but how about a few unsolicited suggestions for spicing things up?

FROM BUZZWORTHY.MTV.COM: Huge Jonas day yesterday! The Jonas Brothers took to Twitter to reveal the cover art for their next album, Lines, Vines And Trying Times, due out June 15. The album cover photo shoot apparently took place in Corisica, Texas at Caleb's Diner.

While I loved the bright lights/ big city album art for A Little Big Longer a little bit better, the cover of Lines, Vines And Trying Times is the perfect portrait of the boys as they cross the bridge of their career from teen musicians to mature multimedia moguls — in addition to their massive world tour, their Disney TV show, "J.O.N.A.S.," premieres May 2nd, they’re working on the "Camp Rock" sequel, they’re launching a Jonas-inspired clothing line, and there’s their Jonas Group involvement with Honor Society and Demi Lovato — gotta support your friends, after all. ...

I have, on occasion, been accused of being a bit of a jerk.

Generally speaking, I find these accusations to be totally unfounded, though, when it comes to the articles I tend to write about summer festivals -- like this one, where I bitch about the Coachella lineup not having enough "sizzle," or this one about Bonnaroo, where I make 10,000 hippie jokes and wondered if "I am allowed to bill MTV for hazard pay" -- I can kind of see what my detractors are talking about. Perhaps I can be kind of a jerk sometimes.

So, with this morning's announcement of the Lollapalooza lineup, I decided to try something different: Positivity.

Rather than complain about the Lolla headliners (must ... fight ... urge ... to make Killers joke ...), or make some joke about how Perry Farrell still believes that DJs can save the universe, I'm going to pick out 10 acts that make Lollapalooza 2009 totally worth it.

Who made my list? Read on to find out.

Before he was winning over fans on "American Idol," Adam Lambert was wowing audiences in Los Angeles' underground glam-rock scene. See what Lambert's friends had to say about the "Idol" contestant's outrageous performance style.

The complete Lollapalooza 2009 lineup is finally here! The Killers, Tool and the Beastie Boys are set to headline this year's event.

Get ready, "Transformers" fans! According to some of the sequel's new castmembers, "Revenge of the Fallen" will be "bigger, badder, and better" than the first.

Throughout the campaign and his months in the oval office, President Barack Obama has made service a top priority. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg followed Obama's lead today with his NYC Service event, and I was honored to be asked to serve as his co-host.

Mayor Bloomberg wants New York to be the nation's capital for service. His plan includes appointing a chief service officer, recruiting new volunteers and requiring schools to promote volunteering. There were quite a few notable attendees, including Caroline Kennedy, former New York first lady Silda Wall Spitzer and Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy, who shook my hand and thanked me for coming out.

David Hasselhoff was at this year's Coachella festival in Indio, California. Although he looks happy and sane, I think there was something going on behind the scenes at the show.

I've got no problem with Dave. In fact, I am all about “Knight Rider” and “Baywatch,” I guess. “America's Got Talent,” eh ... But what really makes me happy is that this dude is a parrrrrrrttttyyyy animal. Remember when he drank his dignity away and showed us how a real man eats a cheeseburger — off the floor? I do. Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but it does kind of feel like Canadian singer/ rapper Drake (real name: Aubrey Drake Graham) has arrived.

He appeared in "Degrassi: The Next Generation" and has recently crossed over from acting to focus on music — and check out this week's Mixtape Monday to see just how well he's doing. He joined Lil Wayne on his I Am Music Tour, and his recent mixtape, So Far Gone (featuring Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Bun B and Omarion), is stirring up a buzz.

On Friday night, Drake performed at SUNY Purchase just north of New York City. The DJ got started at around 10 p.m. as a few audience members asked around, "Who is Drake? What does he sing?" They wouldn't be wondering for long.

See video of Drake below! Read more...

Michelle Trachtenberg just isn't able to pick between Zac Efron and Chace Crawford in a dreamy-guy competition — which to us, seems crazy. (We pick both!)

Despite her inability to pick between those two heartthrobs, we do have to respect her taste in men: "That is a fantastic question!" the "17 Again" and "Gossip Girl" star told MTV News when asked to choose between the two, before throwing in a write-in candidate. "I'm going to go with Colin Firth. He is Dreamy McDreamy a lot!"

PEEPSHOWYou've seen the Spice Girls' Melanie Brown and soap star Kelly Monaco do the rumba and the samba on "Dancing With the Stars," but you probably haven't seen them dance like this yet.

The two stars have teamed up to headline "Peepshow," a modern burlesque show set to open at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Mel B plays the mistress of ceremonies, the Peep Diva, while Monaco is Bo Peep, the Diva's timid protégé.

They were joined at the show's opening-night party last night by none other than Linday Lohan, who may be back to her hard-partying ways after her breakup from Sam Ronson. Could LiLo be interested in guest-starring in the show too? Read more...
