Well, I did it. This evening, I met the three reasons why I fell in love with rock and roll in the first place: Billie Joe, Mike and Tré.

I began my journey to meet the guys nearly 18 hours ago when I stood in line to get a wristband that would guarantee my entry into a meet-and-greet with Green Day at their album signing tonight at Best Buy. I haven't slept at all since then (except for a 15-minute nap I had on the sidewalk at around 5:30 a.m.), but, strangely, it hasn't caught up with me yet ... I've been too excited. And then, as if that wasn't enough, thanks to MTV News, I was able to tag along to an exclusive interview we had with the band before they whipped out the pens to sign 500 albums.

Green Day

(Check out today's MTV News interview with Green Day right here!)

As we waited in the downstairs studio at the store, I tried to calm my nerves but could not keep my legs from shaking or my heart from pounding. When we got the signal that the guys were on their way down, I thought for a minute I might faint or cry (or both), but luckily, I held it together.

When Green Day walked into the room, I was completely unprepared for the first thing that happened: Billie Joe walked immediately over to me, with arms wide open. We hugged. And then I almost died. Read More...

Whitney Port has certainly thrown out some great advice over the years to her longtime buddy and former Teen Vogue co-worker Lauren Conrad on "The Hills," but now "The City" star will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Tuesday's Los Angeles Dodgers game when they go up against the Mets.

In what is sure to be a battle of the coasts, Whitney, who was born and raised in L.A., will also sign autographs for fans in the DodgersWIN (Women's Initiatives Network) tent. Little known fact about Ms. Port: her dad, Jeff, was drafted by the Dodgers in 1968. And since baseball seems to be in the Port jeans, ah, genes (that was a clothing-line pun!), her brother Ryan will catch her pitch at the game. Read More...

No, the "Kidney Now!" benefit on last night's "30 Rock" finale wasn't the first time celebrities have come together to raise awareness or money for a cause. Nor was it the first time "We Are the World" has been parodied. But I'd rank it among my favorite charity-song spoofs, right up there with Jimmy Kimmel's "I'm F---ing Ben Affleck."

In case you missed it, the episode featured Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) pulling in as many favors and blackmail victims as he could to create a benefit show aimed at getting someone to give a kidney to the man who may or may not be his father (Alan Alda). This led to the revelations that Clay Aiken is Kenneth's cousin, Liz Lemon went to school with Sheryl Crow, Elvis Costello is really an international art thief, Adam Levine can do a really hilarious Russian accent, and Mary J. Blige should never cross over into acting again. And finally, the big show came together with a combination of stars to rival the randomness of the original USA for Africa group: Mike D, Ad Rock, Michael McDonald, Sara Bareilles, Wyclef Jean, Norah Jones, Talib Kweli, Rhett Miller, Moby, Robert Randolph, Rachael Yamagata, Steve Earle and Cyndi Lauper, plus the aforementioned stars.

Last night, I sacrificed a night of sleep in the name of Green Day. And with only a few hours to go before I get my chance to meet them, I am shaking in my seat and trying to think of what I will possibly say to them in the event that I don’t pass out.

After hearing that the guys would be doing an album signing at the Best Buy in Midtown Manhattan on the day their 21st Century Breakdown album hit stores, and that wristbands to a meet-and-greet with the band would be handed out to the first 500 people to buy that album, well, I knew I would be there dark and early.

I began my adventure at 1:30 am when I took the last train of the night from my Jersey town into the city and grabbed my spot on the line at exactly 3am. As I got closer to Best Buy, I could already see people crowded around the corner of the store. I later learned that I was the 99th person in line. At first, I thought it was crazy that there had been nearly 100 people on the line by 3 am, but it's Green Day, and Green Day fans are crazy.

Take Rich for instance, the guy who nabbed the first place on line. He’s been waiting since 9am yesterday morning. That’s right ... he's been in line 24 hours and counting. Mad props to that dude. He was prepared ... me? Not so much. And you can read about my night on the mean streets of NYC after the jump. Read More...

Kristin CavallariApparently the news that Lauren Conrad is leaving "The Hills" has left thousands of teenage girls and boys around the country in a state of mourning.

In just four years, LC has gone from the seaside resort town of Laguna Beach to becoming an international sensation as the star of MTV's hit show "The Hills." And whether or not you watch the show, it's almost impossible to find someone who hasn't at least heard the names LC, Heidi, Spencer and Audrina.

Well, it's official — after five whole seasons, "Hills" centerpiece Lauren Conrad will be replaced by frienemy Kristin Cavallari — prompting mixed reactions from fans all over the world.

So today I stepped just outside the building into Times Square to ask "Hills" fans exactly what they thought of Lauren leaving, her new replacement Kristin, and if they think the show will be better or worse without LC.

It wasn't hard to find die-hard "Hills" fans — in fact, it was really easy. From Kentucky, Florida, New York and London — we had people lining up to comment on the show and, judging by those we spoke to, LC is going to be missed. Hers are some big shoes to fill. But let me put you all at ease — one thing everyone should know is that the producers and team behind the show know exactly what they are doing and, most importantly, they know exactly what fans of "The Hills" want: drama! So don't sleep on Kristin Cavallari just yet — something tells me it's going to be an interesting season.

Chris PineBy Kathleen Newman-Bremang

Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are, like, super dreamy. Sure, some would say their attractiveness stems from their indisputable good looks or even their stellar performances as Captain Kirk and Spock the latest "Star Trek" installment, but I contest that our admiration for the newly crowned heartthrobs is intrinsically linked to their — wait for it — bromance. Yes, Chris and Zach are BFFs and, if you, like me, have been obsessively watching the duo's "Trek" press interviews, you know their witty banter and buddy dynamic makes them even more drool-worthy. The pair's charismatic back-and-forth has quickly catapulted them into the esteemed company of some other famous best buds.

So here's a look at our five favorite Hollywood bromances (aside from Chris and Zach, of course).

Brad Pitt and George Clooney
Their bromance basically fueled the entire "Ocean's" film franchise and, let's face it — not only are these two ridiculously good-looking, but they are just plain cool. Pair Pitt's family-man persona with Clooney's eternal bachelor status and these guys seem to complement each other perfectly. Throw in their respective philanthropic efforts and these two are like the Batman and Robin of Hollywood. Come on guys, make "Ocean's 14." We want more Pitt-Clooney shenanigans!

It's all love in Bucktown, USA. Fabolous didn’t go at Maino. I repeat, Fabolous did not go at Maino. Some fans were wondering if Fab's line in the song "Hottest in the Hood" was a jab at fellow Brooklynite Maino. Nah — Fab was just trying to get creative, comparing the diamond cuts in his watch to Maino's famous facial scar. I had a chance to chop it up with Loso on the set of his video "Throw It in the Bag."

Shout-out to Maino for being the real cat he's always been and not listening to the instigators, and big-up to Fab for doing what a lot of hip-hop artists out there are either too scared to do or are not talented enough to do: rap. Loso is still coming with it, being creative with his bars and keeping the listeners on their toes. Let's make this the year of the spitters, shall we hip-hop artists and fans? I'm a journalist, but appreciate — I love some real dope lyrics.

So whoever is out there rhyming — let's put some time and effort into it. Fab is consistent, and you always have to look out for people such as Ludacris, Busta, Tip and Kanye. Wayne is a problem, Drake is leap-frogging a lot of the newcomers, Eminem and Jay are coming back. Jadakiss and Rick Ross are heavy in the street right now. Game is a given. Nas never disappoints. Hip-hop should have a few nice looks this year.

Flash DriveSo, after 72 hours and hundreds of submissions (and just as many conflicting emotions), it's come to this ... we have a winner in our Octo Drive Video Essay Contest.

It wasn't easy picking that winner. We got entries from all across the U.S., not to mention Australia, Spain, Italy and the UK. Entries from kids in school, the military and wheelchairs. We got entries from babies and dancing octopus puppets. There were kids who ate dog food, made cookies, threatened us with dog attacks, and had their children beg for the drive. There were rap songs and (many) acoustic numbers and even a marriage proposal or two. Seriously, you guys outdid yourselves and amazed us with your creativity and your passion to win this thing.

That said ... someone had to win this thing. So, after watching every single one of your entries -- and going back and forth about a bazillion times -- I've decided on the winning clip. For a while, it was gonna be the naked dude playing guitar. Then, Kaleigh, the singing baby surged into the lead. And for a minute, I was gonna give it to Chris B based on creativity alone.

But, at the end of the day, I picked something else entirely. So, who submitted the winning video? Find out after the jump. Read More...

As "The Daily Show" proved earlier this week, being a student at ASU doesn't suck. In addition to being a top-rated party school, you can spend your days majoring in golf management, recreation tourism management and sometimes swing from a trapeze.

And graduating isn't half bad, either.

In addition to a gospel choir, a marching band and a mariachi band, the musical program of the school's commencement ceremony was capped off by a performance by Phoenix local Alice Cooper, singing — wait for it — "School's Out" at Sun Devil Stadium. Read More...

Stars showed up in full force last night in Santa Monica for Maxim's annual Hot 100 party. The mag just unveiled its list of Hollywood's hottest ladies — with "Year One" co-star Olivia Wilde taking the coveted #1 spot — and the event's red carpet was just as sizzling.

Ciara may have been down at #32 on the list, but the sexy singer stole the spotlight on the red carpet, sporting some throwback cornrows. Though they didn't make this year's list, Tila Tequila and Vanessa Minnillo were graciously willing to party with those who did and both broke out the bold colors.

And would it really be a party without an appearance by the recently christened Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Pratt? We think not. Heidi Montag (#81) and her hubby showed up fashionably late, arriving at just a little before 11 p.m. Check out the pics of all the other stars who came out to celebrate Maxim's hottest!
