Before the disco stick, the "SNL" sketch with Madonna and the bloody VMA performance, Lady Gaga was known to the world as Stefani Germanotta, just another average New Yorker — or at least she looked like one. And aside from attending NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, she was also a contestant on MTV's very own "Boiling Points."
The hidden-camera reality show tested the limits of everyday people by placing them in awkward and many times uncomfortable situations. If they didn't curse or make too big a scene within a 10- to 15-minute time period, they'd be awarded with a $100 cash prize. Simple.
Dressed in a strapless black dress, a then-brunet Stefani had ordered food at New York City's Bari until her cell phone rang. Just as she answered the call, an employee directed that she take it outside but, when she came back, her food was gone. Attempting to retrieve her lunch, she called the waitress over and demanded her food. Unfortunately, our favorite orbit-spinning pop star was brought a not-so-pleasant meal.
Check out this vintage clip we pulled from our archive to see if the singer kept her poker face or went gaga and flipped her wig.
Oh, Lady Gaga. You couldn't help but get bleeped on MTV back in 2005 either. Sadly, the future pop superstar didn't win $100. And while a Benjamin is probably considered chump change to Lady Gaga these days, we imagine she would have been thrilled to take our money and run back when she was an up-and-coming musician.
