Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Taylor Swift And Eminem: This Week’s Deep Cuts

It’s Friday, which means that some of you will celebrate the first night of Hanukkah, while others will continue to do their holiday shopping. Still more will ignore both of those things and will simply spend the next few days getting excited for the release of “Avatar” next week. But no matter what you’re doing this weekend, be sure to catch yourself up on the cornucopia of breaking news, awesome insights and amazing photos and video that ran this week on the MTV Newsroom blog.

» Justin Bieber was everywhere with everyone this week, singing duets with Jordin Sparks, covering Eminem tunes, stealing kisses from Rihanna and gettins his picture taken with Celine Dion in the most fantastically Canadian image ever captured.

» Chris Brown released his new album Graffiti this week, and based on our non-scientific poll, the singer remains a controversial and polarizing figure.

» There were some sad memorials this week, as we had a moment of silence for Pantera guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbot as well as for the late, great John Lennon.

» Rihanna teamed up with Andy Samberg for the best rap/sung collaboration since the Grammy-nominated “I’m on a Boat.”

» Miley Cyrus announced she was covering Poison’s “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn,” but she should really be covering Faster Pussycat’s “You’re So Vain.”

» Billy Corgan debuted the new Smashing Pumpkins song and also raved about guitarist Dave Navarro’s abs.

» Bon Jovi are still huge, though their hair isn’t nearly as big as it used to be.

» Want to know which MTV News staff member thought Les Savy Fav put on the best concert of the year? You can find out here, along with the staff’s recollections of shows by Britney Spears, Nine Inch Nails, the Jonas Brothers and Jay-Z.

» Lady Gaga met the Queen of England, and the results were predictably incredible.

» Eminem was named the top-selling artist of the decade, and gamblers out there can make a longshot bet on Adam Lambert, while the less adventurous can put $50 on Taylor Swift.

» Speaking of Swift, she had a Christmas carol dedicated to her this week, and we’re hoping it becomes a seasonal staple.

» Finally, if you’re looking for a great idea for a first date, may we suggest eating fondue with Connecticut psych-poppers Suckers?
