"[I] can't apologize enough for how sorry I am. I could hear my fans cheering from my dressing room, I begged everyone to let me go onstage ... My stage has complicated mechanical elements, everyone was concerned I'd be in danger during the 2hr show, since I had passed out earlier. I am so devastated. I have performed with the flu, a cold, strep throat: I would never cancel a show just based on discomfort ... I hope you can forgive me. I love my little monsters more than anything, you are everything to me."
-Consummate performer Lady Gaga, tweeting an apology to all of her fans (who she calls her "little monsters") about having to cancel a concert in West Lafayette, Indiana on Thursday night (January 14). Gaga was having trouble breathing in the hours leading up to the show, and paramedics said she was suffering from an irregular heartbeat, which was the result of dehydration and exhaustion. Fans in the sold-out Elliott Hall of Music at Purdue University were sent home following opening sets by Jason Derulo and Semi Precious Weapons. No other shows have yet been impacted by Gaga's ill health, and the show in West Lafayette will now take place on January 26 (following a four night run at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. All told, Gaga seemed devastated that she had to bow out of a show. "I've been crying for hours," she added on her Twitter. "I feel like I let my fans down tonight."
