It's Musical March Madness! The sprawling bracket — both a parody and a tribute to the NCAA basketball tournament, masterminded by MTV News' James Montgomery — takes the 65 biggest names in rock, splits them up into four regions, assigns them seeds and puts them up against one another in a single-elimination series of match-ups in a winner-take-all contest. We're leaving it to you to decide an actual champ in this field of 65. Over the next few weeks, we will present a series of polls that will allow you to vote for the match-ups presented in MTV News' Band Bracketology. You vote for the winners, we'll keep advancing the seeds and, in the end, we'll have some sort of champion. What will the winner receive? Little more than our esteem (as well as that of the fans) and some Internet bragging rights.

Sweet 16 voting closed on Tuesday night, which means that we're into the Elite Eight round of the MTV News Musical March Madness tournament. Check out the summary of the Sweet 16 voting, check out our awesome hoops-centric photo gallery below and then ready your clicking fingers to cast your votes for the regional finals. Voting will close Thursday night (April 1) at 10 p.m. EST. The final showdown in the Elite Eight is in the East, where two unlikely heroes stand face-to-face.

(3) Owl City vs. (16) Tokio Hotel
Perhaps the most unlikely paring in all of the tournament, the low-key Owl City have quietly dominated three straight games while Tokio Hotel have taken down everything in their path with theatrical aplomb. Which one will advance to the Final Four?

MTV News' Musical March Madness continues today with the Elite Eight. After two weeks worth of voting and eliminations, our original field of 65 is down to a mere eight: Tokio Hotel, Owl City, Alice in Chains, Coheed and Cambria, Panic! at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Muse and the White Stripes.

So far, the tournament has been full of upsets that nobody was able to foresee when the bracket was first drafted. Only one top seed made it out of the first round (that would be Blink-182), and even they got bounced in round two. And not only did those top seeds get defeated, but two of them (Coldplay and top overall seed Kings of Leon) got spanked pretty hard. Elsewhere in the tournament, pop icons like Nick Jonas and Adam Lambert got knocked off by grunge vets Alice in Chains, while nobody could seem to stop Tokio Hotel.

Voting is now open for the new round of match-ups, with the winners of each heading to the Final Four. The championship is close enough to taste, but there are still obstacles to cover for a lot of these bands. Check out the preview of the Elite Eight and vote for your favorites in MTV News' Musical March Madness tournament!

"I think she really wanted to get arrested, even make a bigger message. There was definitely no fear as far as that was concerned, as far as she was [intent] on getting her message across, which I can respect. I feel like all people who have done great things in the past — when they set their mind to it there was already no going back. And they were already ready to deal with the ramifications of ... their actions. She was already prepared to deal with whatever consequences because she knew she believed in what she was doing."

-"Window Seat" director Chike, one half of the filmmaking duo Chike and Coodie, discussing Erykah Badu's willingness to flaunt the law for the sake of the new video. The clip, which features Badu running around downtown Dallas and slowly stripping off all of her clothing (only to get shot at the end), was filmed without permits, clearance or warning to anybody in the city. Had she been arrested, Badu could have faced up to a year in jail, but the directors were ready for anything. "Her contingency plan was get arrested," Chike said, noting that the production team had bail money ready in case anything went down. "She was big on doing it."

What do you think of Erykah Badu's very revealing "Window Seat" video? Let us know in the comments!

(13) Alice in Chains vs. (15) Coheed and Cambria
Apparently, 13 is a lucky number for the men of Alice in Chains, who have overtaken massive mainstream acts like Nick Jonas and Adam Lambert to arrive in the Elite Eight. On the other side of the aisle stand Coheed and Cambria, who had a legendary battle with Phish in the Sweet 16 and whose fan base seems armed and ready to push their favorite band into the victory seat. Which one will advance?

Some weeks the contestants on "American Idol" make it too easy. Such is the case this week. Riding a winning streak and a team-leading 70 percent success rate, I was tempted to make a wildcard call for this week's elimination, but all signs appear to point to the end of the road for fragile flower Didi Benami.

MTV "Idol" idolizer Jim Cantiello put his bid in for Benami, saying her limp "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" was just plain uncomfortable and hard to watch. The judges agreed and said she messed up by getting outside of her singer/songwriter zone and just confusing the audience. It didn't help that host Ryan Seacrest was hell-bent on seeing her cry by trying to force her to admit that she chose the tune in honor of the late friend who inspired her to try out for the show. Double uncomfortable!

MJ Santilli of "Idol" blog MJ's Big Blog also thought Benami might be on the chopping block, but said "Teflon" Tim Urban was the one she thought was going home after his snicker-filled reaction to the latest volley of flaming arrows flung at him by the four horsemen of the "Idol"-pocalypse. Using a bit of crowd logic, she speculated that since two women have been booted in a row, it was the boys' turn.

I'm going to buck that logic and go with Jim, because as Simon Cowell said, Tim seems bulletproof as long as he keeps smiling and grandmas and 12-year-old girls wear out their cellphones voting for him.

My prediction for the bottom three is Siobhan Magnus, Tim Urban and Didi, with Benami getting the boot once the dust settles.

After four weeks of "Idol" forecasting (for those of you keeping score), here are the current standings.

Gil Kaufman: 7-of-10

Jim Cantiello: 5-of-10

MJ Santilli: 4-of-10

Do you agree with our predictions? Who do you think will get booted? Leave your comments below and let us know!

(2) Muse vs. (4) The White Stripes
The Midwest bracket may be the only one that shook out in (relatively) predictable fashion. Muse have a massive following and continue to gain fans every day, while the White Stripes' legacy remains strong despite the fact that they've been on hiatus for years (though Jack White's continued work in bands like the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather has probably helped). They have each survived both close calls and routs, but only one can head to the Final Four to meet up with the winner of the My Chemical Romance/Panic! at the Disco game. Who ya got?

Alison Smith is a medical student at Tulane University who wrote on-the-ground reports from Haiti for the MTV Newsroom Blog in the days and weeks after January's devastating earthquake. She returned to the country this week with a medical team to set up a field clinics in the Central Plateau region and check up on patients in the capital of Port-au-Prince. With the rainy season about to start and more than a million Haitians still displaced, Smith reports that much work is still left to be done.

By Alison Smith

I am back in Haiti with a group I have put together of nine medical students and three doctors, two months after leaving from the earthquake-ravaged island. The situation is much more difficult, the people are much more sick and the challenges are even greater than ever before. Millions are homeless. The coordination of relief efforts has been met with roadblocks at every corner due to the lack of infrastructure and the corruption that runs rampant in every political sector.

Flying into Port-au-Prince, the once-barren hillsides are covered with tents and shacks constructed out of tarp. At first glance, the airport seemed much more organized than before, however this facade gave way as we ventured farther out into the masses of people. The city is still heavy with the stench of death. We brought hundreds of pounds of supplies to set up a makeshift clinic in the Central Plateau, the poorest region of Haiti.

The area did not have much structural damage, but the people here are feeling the effects of the disaster in the form of lost loved ones and an even greater lack of basic resources like food and water. We are working with a Haitian man who has done amazing work in creating opportunities for education and jobs in this very poor area. The root of the problem from the earthquake is that Port-au-Prince has been overwhelmed for decades by an influx of people from the countryside looking for better opportunities. The city infrastructure could not support millions of people.

In three days, we have seen and treated 600 people. We have seen so many frustrating situations where people are dying from lack of health care. We saw children with such severe bacterial infections that their skin was peeling off. We saw a woman who had breast cancer that was so far advanced that we could see it. I took a child to the hospital today with a severe pneumonia and undiagnosed sickle cell anemia and the doctors refused to treat him because his family couldn't afford to pay. I had to take them back to the hospital and pay in order for them to get treatment. It is so frustrating that Haitians continue to suffer while there is so much aid available.

Despite having been to Haiti five times before, the mysteries of this country continue reveal themselves in front of my eyes.

Hey girl,

We haven't met yet, but I guess we're on our way to becoming sisters. My name is Vanessa White Wolf. I'm actually Native American. This morning I read TMZ's report from your spokesperson that you and Spencer are planning to change your names to White Wolf and Running Bear, respectively. And while I appreciate your and Spencer's quest to becoming more spiritual, I'm wondering if there's a way to do it that doesn't co-opt my heritage. Totally understand that it's a great last name. We like it ourselves an awful lot. It just goes back a long way and we're pretty proud of its long Comanche history, housed right in the Great Plains. Have you been to Oklahoma before? Just curious.

Because I can see that you're aware of and sensitive to the plight of the Native American. We've had a bad few centuries! Maybe there's another name you could find? Spencer choosing Running Bear makes a little more sense. But — and I mean this in the nicest possible way — you're not a Wolf. Perhaps you could go with White Cat? White Kitten? White Bird? Those seem like chipper, friendly animals! Much more your type. Actually, how does Blonde Bird sound? Let's discuss.

The last point I want to make is that Speidi is just such a perfect name for you guys, and combining White Wolf and Running Bear doesn't have that same sort of finesse. Right? "Whunning Wear" is a little clunky, don't you think?

Yours,

Vanessa White Wolf

(5) My Chemical Romance vs. (15) Panic! at the Disco
The Sweet 16 saw My Chemical Romance top 30 Seconds to Mars in an absolute barn burner. Jared Leto's group jumped out to an early lead, but a late onslaught from MCR pushed them over the top, finishing a mere 300 votes ahead of their rivals. Meanwhile, Panic! at the Disco had an unexpectedly easy walk over former member Ryan Ross' new group the Young Veins. Now two of the loudest and most intense fan bases left in the tournament square off for a place in the Final Four. Who will win?
