It finally happened. On Friday, March 5 at around 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Conan O'Brien followed his first Twitter user.
Indeed it has. To find out how, MTV News tracked Killen down and we're proud to exclusively bring you this new web celebrity's very first interview, presented via Skype.
"I went on to my MySpace and there was a message asking basically if they did want to pick me, if they could, for permission," Killen told us. "I didn't take it seriously until I saw my name on his Twitter. And then I was like, 'Oh, my god.' I ran out to the work garage and started telling everybody."
At press time, nearly 10,000 Twitter users are following the budding Internet sensation. And along with the instant celebrity factor, Killen is also benefiting in a few other ways. "Before I was having a hard time with the camera, so this guy from HornBlasters ... they offered to buy me a webcam," she said. "And he surprised me with this brand new Apple computer that I'm using right now."
But that's not the only freebie Killen has received. One company has even offered to donate a ring for the newly engaged couple. And when that wedding does happen, Killen wouldn't mind having a certain freckled member among the guests. "We were only going to invite like twenty people, so if he came, it could be as big as he wanted. He could bring anyone he wanted. He could have more people there than I do."
As her first day of Twitter fame drew to a close, Killen had one final message for her new benefactor. "He definitely needs to start a new show. Definitely. He has no idea what he did for me. Just the one day, this is the most awesome day ever."
