Really, you should be listening to music every day, but thanks to Twitter, Monday has become the best day of the week to discover new songs, show some love to the tune currently dominating your iPod playlist and quietly judge the listening habits of your closest friends. Yes, it's #MusicMonday, one of Twitter's most enduring trending topics. Hence "MTV News' #MusicMonday," a weekly look at the songs your favorite stars are currently crushing on.
This week, "My Life as Liz" star Liz Lee endorses Baltimore dream poppers Beach House.
Life has been pretty wild for Liz Lee, the titular star of MTV's latest hit "My Life as Liz" (which just had its season finale last week). In very little time, she went from a high school student in a small town in Texas to being a Google trend. "My Life as Liz" features an incredibly eclectic soundtrack full of excellent indie acts (the finale of her show featured tracks from Phoenix, Passion Pit, Blitzen Trapper and Gramercy Arms) and reflects Lee's onw personal taste. In fact, one of her current favorites is a track from a dreamy indie rock duo from Charm City.
"My Music Monday pick would probably be 'Norway' by Beach House," Lee told MTV News the day after the finale of her show aired. "It's just a really good song. It's kind of like a nice little indie pick. It's just been on repeat on my playlist for quite some time."
"Norway" is the current single from Beach House's latest album Teen Dream, which combines jangly guitar pop with spacey Beach Boys-esque atmospherics and a healthy jolt of psychedelia.
