Lady Gaga has certainly worn some cool outfits, but they definitely aren't the sort of garments that provide relief from the sun. They usually contain bulky wigs, heavy makeup, fabrics that don't breathe very easily and costuming that almost always contains metal spikes and detailing. So what will Gaga wear when she takes the stage at Lollapalooza this August? Chicago is always sweltering during August, and if her past summer festival outfits tell us anything, she'll be wearing a lot and yet very little at the same time.
Kicking off Gaga's summer festival tour of the past is her oft-forgotten Lollapalooza 2007 appearance where Gaga, still a brunette, graced the stage in nothing more than a bra and panties. But, in case you think this sounds boring and weather appropriate, the bras was made from a disco ball. Disco inferno indeed!
In March 2008 just as the weather was warming up in Miami, Gaga played a little outdoor show in a satin white blazer and disco ball underwear, shimmery tights and ankle boots.
She hit up a rooftop show in New York City in May 2008 wearing a number of outfits not weather-appropriate for NYC in May: Satin, plastic shin guards, a hood and latex. The only thing hotter than Gaga's performance was her skin under those fabrics.
On the streets of Toronto where the Much Music Awards took place last June, Gaga took the stage in black leather and studded bustier paired with matching S&M boots. But the really truly warm part came from when Gaga shot out sparks from her bustier. That had to turn up the temperature.
In late June, Gaga hit up the Glastonbury Festival (and resurrected the look in August at the V Festival) wearing a body suit made completely of mirrors. She even used a mirror mask like the one she wore in the "Poker Face" music video. We imagine that wearing mirrors on your face in the summer is hot, if not a little vain.
Gaga performed at the outdoor Wembley Stadium last July and when she hit the stage instead of keeping the look light, she donned an all-black bodysuit complete with hood. Sure the hood could come off when she wanted, but we don't like Gaga getting so hot-headed in public!
And at another summer festival the Sonic Festival held in Japan, Gaga tried out a number of her looks (like the one she wore at Glastonbury and V Festival), but also finally wore something that might be cooler in the form on a blush colored bra and matching hot pants. We imagine the emphasis was on hot!
