Last week, it was pretty easy to guess who was going home on "American Idol," helping us get our first clean sweep in the "Idol" prediction dome. Alas, this week we are torn again, as Lennon/McCartney week was a see-saw of good, bad and … meh.
Crystal Bowersox was, as usual, her didgeridynamite self, Casey James nailed "Jealous Guy," Michael Lynche was super solid once again and Siobhan Magnus, well, she wore a funny outfit.
Simon Cowell has already exposed that Teflon Tim Urban seems immune to bad performance and once on-the-bubble teen Katie Stevens appears to be on the rebound, so we won’t bother predicting their demise again. MTV "Idol" authority Jim Cantiello seemed pretty confident that country squeaker Aaron Kelly had worn out his welcome with a morbid "The Long and Winding Road," while MJ's Big Blog honcho MJ Santilli though it was lights out for Andrew Garcia, who finally showed some personality during his be-bopping Vegas-like take on "Can't Buy Me Love," but still failed to impress the judges.
Me? I have to go with Kelly. The kid just isn't really showing his star power and he keeps hitting the same notes (mostly on key) every week without really showing any new looks. He was savvy enough, however, to pull a Crystal and promise that he was going to shake it a bit next week … if he made it through.
As for the bottom three, I say it's Kelly, Garcia and Magnus. Check back tomorrow to see how we did.
After five weeks of "Idol" forecasting (for those of you keeping score), here are the current standings.
Gil Kaufman: 8-of-11
Jim Cantiello: 6-of-11
MJ Santilli: 5-of-11
