Los Angeles-based DJ/producer Kaskade (born Ryan Raddon) has accumulated a substantial and loyal fan base over the past few years by pairing angelic vocals with euphoric, uplifting synths. After a whirlwind trip through Miami's Winter Music Conference last month (spinning at Beatport Beach, Ultra Music Festival and his own headlining party at Cameo), diehard Kaskade fans have reason to be excited again: "Dynasty," the first single from his forthcoming new album, dropped yesterday.
The track is vintage Kaskade, marrying a hard progressive beat with the soothing vocals of Haley Gibbey. The singer should be familiar to fans, as she has provided her unmistakable sound to multiple Kaskade tracks (including the 2008 smash collaboration with deadmau5, "Move For Me").
When we caught up with Kaskade at WMC, he spoke fondly of working with the 'mau5 and recalled that even back then, he knew to expect big things.
"We did two tracks together in 2008, both of which were really big hits," Kaskade told MTV News about his past collaborations with deadma5. When I reached out to him, he was kind of still bubbling up, you know? And I'm like 'Man, I really like the music, I think we can really make something special together.'"
Of course, the arrival of the album (also titled Dynasty) isn't the only news that has fans of Kaskade fired up. He has also revealed that he has collaborated with Tiesto on a track. It's a partnership Kaskade enjoyed profoundly.
"It's interesting because my sound and Tiesto's sound, they're actually quite different," he said. "But there is some similarity to it. I think melodically it makes a lot of sense, even though our production styles are very different and it's cool that he can recognize that. He's always been a big supporter of my music. I'm just really happy with the way it turned out."
You can hear the finished product and more come April 27, when Kaskade drops Dynasty on iTunes (with the physical disc following on May 11).
