Is there anything greater than an all-star single? Not the charity ones that often feel contrived and stunty, but rather a truly killer song that brings together four or so superstars all at the top of their respective games. Last year, the remix of "Forever" satisfied that hunger with Drake, Eminem, Lil Wayne and Kanye West all turning in stunning performances for the sake of a movie soundtrack. Back in 2001, the universe received "Lady Marmalade," a collaboration between Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil Kim and Mya that topped the Billboard Hot 100 on this date nine years ago.

Crafted for the soundtrack to director Baz Luhrmann's burlesque-reviving technicolor nightmare "Moulin Rouge!" and featuring a video that saw each of the four ladies decked out in their finest glam outfits, "Lady Marmalade" was a force to be reckoned with at the beginning of the summer of 2001 (had it peaked later, it would have been in contention for the official jam of that season). It caught each woman at an interesting time, as Aguilera was only just coming back into the spotlight (her second album Stripped was still a year away), Pink was just beginning to make her transition from pop singer to the hybrid star that she is today and Lil Kim was still a big deal. Interestingly, Mya was probably the biggest star of the quartet at the time, as her smash hit "Case of the Ex" was still fresh in the minds of the pop crowd.

The song, originally recorded by Labelle, first topped the chart in 1974. The remake made it the only song to top the charts after being recorded by two different acts, and won Grammy Awards for all four participants.

For a guy who was at death's door a few weeks ago, Bret Michaels is having an awfully good week. After returning to the public eye via an appearance on "The Celebrity Apprentice" on Sunday night (a competition he later won) and high-profile interviews on "Today" and "The Oprah Winfrey Show," Michaels once again made a stirring appearance on live TV with a performance of the classic power ballad "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" with "Idol" finalist Casey James on Wednesday night (May 26).

According to Michaels, he kept the performance secret from his doctors but said he needed it to get back into the swing of being on stage (he hadn't done a live performance in two months). The run through of "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" acted as a warm-up for Michaels' suddenly hotly-anticipated tour, which kicks off this Friday (May 28) in Biloxi, Mississippi and will bring him all over the country for the remainder of the summer.

The Poison frontman has proven to be a survivor in more ways than one. When the bubble burst on glam metal's reign on radio in the beginning of the 1990s, nobody was hit harder than the men of Poison, who were seen as the fluffiest and most lightweight of that batch of bands (even though Winger was way lamer). Still, Michaels kept it up, getting his solo career together and staying on the road with like-minded people and playing to crowds who were still hungry for hits from Look What the Cat Dragged In. When reality television became a big deal, Michaels managed to carve out a niche for himself and proved that he was a great on-camera presence with a natural charisma. The reason why he is still a star is because of that natural electricity — and of course because of "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," a true classic. Welcome back, Bret. We missed you.

Being that this is "American Idol," the results show — which could legitimately be only five minutes long — will run well over two hours. And being that this is Simon Cowell's final "Idol" episode ever, expect lots of celebrity cameos. (And when I say "celebrity," I mean Blake Lewis and Normund Gentle.)

Christina Aguilera and Enrique Iglesias are scheduled to perform (in honor of 1999, the year Simon first got his flat-top haircut), as well as our reigning Idol, Kris "Not Adam Lambert, The Straight One" Allen. There are plenty of rumored appearances, too, ranging from Janet Jackson to Hall and Oates. (Those greatest hits albums aren't going to sell themselves, now will they?)

But wait! There's more!

"Idol" finales bring back the entire Top 12 of the season, and often the singers get paired up with established acts, so congratulations random dude who hoped to see Paige Miles and Insane Clown Posse perform together. That day could very well be today. And Tim Urban and DeBarge? It wouldn't be the weirdest thing we've seen that kid do on the "Idol" stage!

Let's get recappin'!

(Read from the bottom up!)

10:24 And farewell, Simon! Thanks for being a part of a show that's brought me immeasurable joy (and the occasional headache). Looking forward to "X-Factor!" (I gotta pay my bills somehow, son!)

10:23 Thanks for reading (and watching) my recaps all season long, peeps! It's been an interesting one. We wish Lee and Crystal the best in getting their post-"Idol" careers going. And congrats to 19 Entertainment for getting the chance to represent yet another white guy with a guitar.

10:22 Sorry for running away. I just interviewed Bret Michaels!!

10:06 And this concludes "American Idol, Season 9: A Girl's Season."

10:05 So....Bret Michaels is in the press room and nobody cares about the results.

10:04 This is adorable. Lee got a personality transplant. Congrats, dude! Crystal is crying, but she looks happy for Lee. They really were buddies. Isn't it always great to see that?

10:03 A girl will never win "American Idol" again.

10:02 The winner is..............LEE DeWYZE!!

10:01 THE RESULTS ARE IN and they're being delivered by a British guy. Way to outsource, "AMERICAN Idol."

9:59 Paula Abdul is doing the press room! Whoa! I will get to interview her in a few. Do you think I'll get fired if I only ask her about "Touched By Evil," her (stunning) 90's Lifetime movie?

"Em personally reached out to me, and we been speaking ever since, especially since I went through my situation [with having to go to prison]. [He would] just kinda remind me that 'I've been through dark period in my life too. You're gonna make it. You're one of the ones we need, so you're gonna make it. Stand tall and walk the walk.' He just made it a point to always reassure me of the spot that I hold in this thing that we got called hip-hop. It was incredibly helpful. It was incredibly noble of him, in my eyes, to even take the time out to reach out to me."

-Atlanta rapper T.I., speaking to MTV News about the friendship that developed between himself and Marshall Mathers while Tip was incarcerated. T.I. said the bond began simply as a business thing. "My management reached out to his management," he said. "Just in hopes of getting him on a record. He wrote me since I was in the joint. We've spoken several time since I've been back home. We maintain a healthy relationship." Despite the differences in their upbringing and their backgrounds in the music business, Tip thinks he and Eminem are a lot alike. "If you are able to take that experience and learn from it, and you're willing to grow from it, accept the part you've played in it and move forward, I think you're a better person," he said. "That's something that I can see he's experienced that I've experienced, that we both share in common."

The relationship has paid off in the form of a song that the pair will record for T.I.'s upcoming comeback album King Uncaged, which is due to be unleashed on August 17. The pair previously collaborated on "Touchdown," a banger from Tip's 2007 smash hit T.I. vs. T.I.P.

They say a well-rounded education is the key to success, and if that truly is the case, the my schooling is woefully incomplete when it comes to the subject of pop. That's why we bring you "Popology," the guide to modern radio-friendly stars as seen through the eyes of a guy who grew up on punk and metal. In case you missed previous installments, catch up with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and the Spice Girls here.

In this week's installment — a slight departure from the norm — Limp Bizkit puts the "nu" in nu-metal.

If there's one thing that stood out about the sad passing of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray, it's the fact that there was a time in this country when metal was totally accepted in the mainstream. And we're not talking about the type of metal that Guns N' Roses or Mötley Crüe dropped onto the radio in the 1980s. This was savage, brutal music. Consider this: Slipknot's 2001 album Iowa debuted at number three on the Billboard chart and sold a million copies in a months, and that album is brutal. Despite the snatches of melody in the singles "Left Behind" and "My Plague," most of it is an absolutely savage combination of technical skill and raw sonic purging.

But it had to come from somewhere, and the trend that lead Iowa to the upper echelons of the charts began in 1999 with the release of Limp Bizkit's Significant Other. Fronted by rapper/singer/hype man Fred Durst and powered by the funky, guttural riffs of guitarist Wes Borland, the Bizkit turned the proto-rapcore of their debut album Three Dollar Bill, Yall$ into a radio-friendly mix of arena riffs, hip-hop swagger and just the right amount of melody.

The release of Significant Other was a massive cultural event, fueled by the ubiquity of the smash single "Nookie" and the iconic video that found a permanent home on MTV's "Total Request Live." Durst was rapping alongside clips by Backstreet Boys and Christina Aguilera, which made for a striking departure in the streamlined end-of-the-century pop menu. But you can't associate with those acts without sort of becoming one of them, which put the Bizkit in a weird place: A (theoretically) hard band with radio leanings and videos on MTV. They ended up picking up a ton of cultural baggage following the initial fervor over the release of Significant Other (including an ill-fated performance at Woodstock '99), but before that, there was only an album.

Significant Other opens with a super-freaky intro the features some bass-heavy narration announcing "You wanted the worst? You got the worst. Limp Bizkit!" You have to admit one thing: *NSYNC never opened an album like that. Read More...

Just two weeks ago, Jamaica Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett lashed out at Drake for his portrayal of the violent culture on the island as depicted in his video "Find Your Love." The clip ends with a kidnapped Drizzy shot to death by his lover on direct orders from her boyfriend played by real life Gullytown native Mavado.

Fast forward to this present day: The island’s capital Kingston has found itself in the midst of a violent war, with government officials fighting against the the towns residents who have armed themselves with assault weapons vowing to die for their local "hero," real life thug Dudus Coke.

After mounting pressure from U.S. officials, last Friday (May 21) Jamaica Prime Minister Bruce Golding ordered the extradition of drug lord Christopher "Dudus" Coke, who is a wanted man in New York City on drug trafficking charges that resemble his last name. Coke is infamously known as the heir to the throne of the Shower Posse (a group founded by his father "Jim Brown," who was burned alive in his cell before he too was set to answer drug charges in the States). And just like his dad and a long line of other crime figures in Kingston, the Jamaican don, known to street dwellers in his Tivoli Gardens neighborhood, Coke is highly praised and referred to as the President.

Over the weekend, local troops descended upon Coke's stomping grounds in pursuit of the wanted man but have found themselves at war with residents who've set police stations on fire and barricaded their respective areas with burned cars and refrigerators. The ongoing war has since claimed the lives of 44 people and injured many more.

A local resident of the Jamaica area sent MTV photos from yesterday that show a swarm of police in riot gear storming the West Kingston streets en route to Coke's hideout in the Tivolo Gardens, noting "police stations have been attacked one right after the other and there's been fighting in the streets." The number of shootings have ranged from students in schools fearing for their lives as bullets tear through their classroom windows to hospitals where patients have been instructed to lie on the floor underneath their beds.

The Prime Minister has declared Jamaica a state of emergency for the next month and President Barack Obama has asked tourists to stay away from the troubled town.

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

It's an extremely busy time for Katy Perry. Her upcoming second album Teenage Dream will be hitting store shelves soon, and her smash single "California Gurls" is currently in competition for the official song of summer 2010. She has a tour coming up, and in two weeks she'll perform live at a little show called the 2010 MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles (which will look to top the incredible "cake dive" performance at Los Premios last year). Plus, she has a wedding to plan, which will have to take up some time at some point. But for the moment, she's the arm candy for fiancé Russell Brand, whose movie "Get Him to the Greek" opens next week. The film had its premiere on Wednesday night (May 25) at the actual Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. The red carpet also featured appearances from Jonah Hill, Diddy, Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, Kristen Bell and Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

They weren't the only couple making the rounds, as Nicole Scherzinger and "Dancing With the Stars" partner visited ABC's "Good Morning America" and Ice Cube visited the Sirius-XM studio in New York accompanied by his badass self. Click here for these photos as well as the entire "Spotted!" archive, which features over 350 candid shots of stars like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, the Jonas Brothers, Jessica Simpson, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga and Madonna!

I've hung in this long and given my insurmountable lead in predicting "American Idol" eliminations, I'm going to buck the better judgment of my fellow "Idol" experts and go rogue with my call for who will win the crown on tonight's (May 26) big season nine finale of "American Idol."

I know MTV News' Jim Cantiello and MJ Santilli of MJ's Big Blog said they think Crystal beat the pants off Lee DeWyze Tuesday night (May 25) and re-asserted her season-leader mantle, while he was a jittery bundle of nerves. And yes, Simon Cowell's parting gift to Lee was re-iterating the bootstraps paint store clerk story to pump up the sympathy vote and make this thing interesting.

And, yeah, I know that this is supposed to be a talent competition, but like high school, when it comes down to it it's just a popularity contest, and Lee has that puppy dog face and everyguy appeal that the ladies can't resist and the dudes can relate to. But I'm a stubborn kind of fella and I refuse to believe that "Idol" watchers can't see an obvious talent gap when it's staring them right in the face.

Crystal crushed it with all three of her songs Tuesday night, capping it off with a tear-jerking cover of "Up to the Mountain" that no less an authority than Randy Jackson called one of the all-time great "Idol" performances. She brought her A-game, and after weeks of seeming like she had one foot out the door, it seemed like she wanted it. Bad.

Effort should count and while I may be disappointed on Thursday morning (and not for the first time), I'm going to go all-in and say Crystal will be this year's "American Idol."

With only one more chance to make the right call, here's where we stand at this point.

Gil Kaufman: 11-of-19

Jim Cantiello: 9-of-19

MJ Santilli: 8-of-19

Check back Thursday to see how we did in our predictions and leave your comments below.

We then bring together a trio of the biggest headlines for "Three to See," the daily digest of the top stories making noise on our site and across the Internet. This morning, stories on Christina Aguilera's postponed tour, "Transformers 3" casting and Ellen DeGeneres' new record label lead the way.

Christina Aguilera Writes Letter To Fans About Canceled Tour
Following the announcement that Christina Aguilera was postponing the planned summer tour in support of her new album Bionic, she posted an open letter to fans about why she had to call off those dates. "I am truly sorry to those of you who had purchased tickets and have been disappointed by the news," Aguilera wrote. "Immediately after wrapping production on 'Burlesque,' I went directly back into the studio and then quickly started the promotional process for Bionic. With both the album press and film press, I am booked the entire summer and need time to focus on the work at hand."

Victoria's Secret Model Cast In "Transformers 3"
Only a few days after the controversial exit of Megan Fox from the cast of "Transformers 3," it appears as though her replacement has been found. Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley beat out fellow models Sarah Wright and Brooklyn Decker in the competition for the role. The Michael Bay-directed "Transformers 3" is set to begin filming soon for a July 2011 release.

Ellen DeGeneres Launches Record Label With YouTube Sensation Greyson Chance
The "American Idol" season may be ending, but Ellen DeGeneres will still be focusing on music. The talk show host has set up a new record label called eleveneleven, and her first signing is 12-year-old Greyson Chance, who scored some fame by playing Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" on YouTube.
