Vince Neil Visits The Newsroom, Makes A Dream Come True

By Vanessa White Wolf

I have always been a little obsessed with Mötley Crüe. I can remember watching MTV for hours in the hopes of catching the video premiere of “Dr. Feelgood” and then constantly horrifying my parents with how often I listened to that album, all when I was only 10 years old. Later on, I was all about Nikki Sixx, but only because I felt a bizarre kinship with him after reading “The Dirt.” (I don’t want to think about what that says about me, especially considering he is legally dead for a few minutes in that book.) There’s just something about those guys Ὰ as much as they’ve done and as much as they’ve gone through, they are just still so awesome.

A few weeks ago, Newsroom Blog editor Kyle Anderson sent an e-mail to notify the appropriate MTV News staff that he had booked Crü frontman Vince Neil to stop by for an interview surrounding the release of his new solo album Tattoos and Tequila and an autobiography of the same name. I immediately went a little ballistic in my reply to him, essentially stating that no matter what happened, I had to meet Vince Neil.

Finally, the day arrived. I reminded (read: threatened) Kyle about how the meeting needed to happen. And after waiting in my office for half an hour while Vince was interviewed, Kyle came to get me and I walked (camera in hand, obviously) over to the conference room.

People, Vince couldn’t have been nicer. That’s even more amazing when you consider the fact that Kyle had clearly warned Vince and his team that I was a little Crüe-crazy. As a bonus, his shirt was ever so slightly unbuttoned (showing off the awesome tats on his chest). I got my picture taken with him and he was kind enough to sign a CD for me. As we said our goodbyes and thank-yous, he even gave me a kiss on the cheek. I die.
