Spotted: The Roots Make It Cool To Go Back To The Apple Store

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that’s why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

Apple is having a weird year. Sure, the iPad is a big hit, but the problems with the new iPhone continue (with more than one group calling for a full recall of the new device). And visiting the Apple Store tends to be a pain, as it’s always crowded and sometimes impossible to tell who actually works there. But all that was washed away at the store’s Soho branch in New York City on Tuesday (July 13), as they welcomed the Roots to the “Apple Store Live” series. The group took time out from their busy schedule as the house band for “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” to burn through a handful of tracks from their excellent new album How I Got Over. Black Thought, ?uestlove, Captain Kirk Douglas and the rest treated a capacity crowd to an hour-long set that got heads nodding and butts bouncing.

They weren’t the only musicians celebrating on Tuesday, as Lil Jon and Atomic Tom hit the red carpet for the release party for the soundtrack to MTV’s “Jersey Shore” (an album that features Enrique Iglesias, LMFAO, David Guetta and Taio Cruz). Click here for these photos as well as the rest of the “Spotted” archive, which features over 400 candid shots of stars like Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Eminem, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Demi Lovato, Madonna, the Jonas Brothers, Justin Timberlake, Adam Lambert and 50 Cent!
