When the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards go live this Sunday, September 12 at 9 p.m. Eastern (with the pre-show beginning at 8 p.m.), fans of "Mad Men" will have to rely on their DVRs in order to experience all the music and action on the wildest, most unpredictable awards show of the year. Though "Mad Men" is undoubtedly one of the best shows currently airing on television (and the most recent episode ranks among the series' finest ever), there is at least one cast member who will be skipping her own show in favor of watching the VMAs. Kiernan Shipka, the 10-year-old actress who plays Sally Draper on the show, is a big fan of two VMA nominees in Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.
"I love 'Baby,'" Shipka told MTV News' Jim Cantiello on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards. "And I like the classic hair flip." She told Cantiello that she is looking forward to what Bieber will be busting out when he takes the stage at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, but when it comes to who gets the Moonmen, she'll be rooting for the 13-times-nominated Lady Gaga.
"I am a Gaga fan," she told Cantiello. When asked what her favorite song was, she leaned toward a more esoteric choice than the big hits "Bad Romance" or "Poker Face." "'Speechless,' actually, is my favorite Gaga song," she said. "It was so different than really anything she's done, and I loved it. She's amazing!"
Whether or not Lady Gaga comes away with any Moonmen this Sunday, she can feel good knowing that she has at least one young fan who is willing to grow up with her.
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET.
