The aftershocks of Lady Gaga's meaty fashion statement at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards were felt far and wide, and we felt that in order to do our proper due diligence as journalists, we had to thoroughly explore all relevant reactions.
So after reaching out to every vegetarian and vegan artist available for comment, it hit finally dawned up us that we had forgotten to seek an official comment from arguably the most vocal anti-beef proponents in the world: The Chick-Fil-A cows. Surely, the chicken proponents would have something to say about Gaga's red taste in both fashion and animal flesh.
While the cows are not known for their mastery of the English language (spelling seems to trip them up profoundly; then again, they are ungulates with tiny brains), they do maintain a steady presence on Twitter. So following a delicious newsroom lunch catered by Shake Shack, we reached out to both Chick-Fil-A and their vocal bovines via Twitter.
First came an official response from Chick-Fil-A headquarters. "It was definitely rare," tweeted Chic-Fil-A when asked about Gaga's outfit.
But we couldn’t settle for just that. We had to get an opinion straight from the cow's mouth. Word must have traveled quickly through the organization, because just an hour later we got a response tweeted back to us. "Beef iz so 5 minits ago," the cows tweeted, theoretically with their hoofs.
For now, the cows seem to have turned the other cheek, but the Chick-Fil-A cows hold a lot of sway in the barnyard (and fast food) community, which means that, perhaps, Gaga should resolve to "eat mor chikin."
