Lil Wayne’s First 24 Hours Of Freedom In Photos

On Thursday morning (November 4), Lil Wayne‘s stay at Rikers Island came to a close and he walked out of the prison a free man having served his debt to society. He was away for a total of eight months, during which time he slowly released material recorded before he went in (including the chart-topping album I Am Not a Human Being). But though we had plenty of recorded material to tide us over, it still felt a little empty without him (after all, we didn’t have any of the man’s great tweets or sports insights for nearly a year).

Wayne has quite a schedule in front of him now that he is free. He’ll be headed to Arizona today to take care of some legal business (while he was serving time in Rikers, he cut a deal regarding another outstanding charge in that state), and then is on his way to New Orleans, Las Vegas (where he will likely be appearing on stage with Drake as part of a performance on his Light Dreams and Nightmares tour) and Miami (the latter of which will host a huge welcome home party for him at a strip club called King of Diamonds). MTV News has been following Weezy most of the way (and will continue to do so throughout the weekend — stay tuned to weezywatch.mtv.com for continuous updates), and DJ Scoob Doo has been providing behind-the-scenes photos of his first day of freedom — including a shot of him getting back into the Twitter groove with a celebratory cigar.
