One of the things that separates Kanye West from your average, run-of-the-mill rapper is that he is an excellent live performer. He has taken over stages all across the world, his 2008 Glow in the Dark tour was one of the best arena spectacles from any artist in years and, of course, his performance of "Runaway" at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards was one of the best displays in the history of that show. West doesn't just perform in arenas and on awards shows either, as he has been known to show up at your office and freestyle if you happen to be lucky enough.
If you happened to be on a Delta flight from Minneapolis to New York on Friday (November 5), you got a free performance from the rapper, who took over the PA system on the jet and busted out some rhymes for his fellow passengers. His set included cleaned-up versions of "Gold Digger" and "Good Life," and the passengers were fitfully stunned at what happened. "I still have no idea how he got into the cockpit," quipped one flier.
A few days later, West made another surprise appearance, this time on stage with 30 Seconds to Mars during the pre-show at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards. That means that West is still building up a resumé of rhymes in surprise venues. The big question now becomes, "What's next for Kanye?" Will he head to the Antarctic to rap for the penguins? Will he head to Stone Henge for some mysterious beatboxing? Will you find him freestyling on a New York City subway platform? Or will he head for the final frontier and bust a few lines for some Martians?
