It was probably a foregone conclusion to begin with, but on Monday (March 7), CBS officially fired Charlie Sheen from "Two and a Half Men." Though the future of the show is still relatively hazy, it seems likely that the show would attempt to carry on with a different actor standing in for Sheen. While the MTV Newsroom blog already suggested a group of reformed bad boy rockers to possibly take Sheen's place, there are plenty of other actual actors (some of whom have been mentioned as actual possibilities, others who are simply wishes) who could score the gig and take the show in a new direction.
John Stamos
The former "Full House" star's name was passed around as a potential replacement, though both CBS and Stamos have denied that he is up for the gig. (Sheen himself also buried the idea.) But Stamos would make for an excellent replacement, as he is funny, sharp and able to inject just enough of his own personal narrative into the role.
Emilio Estevez
Of course, Sheen's brother and "Men at Work" co-star is a clear choice, though it's uncertain how many family issues that would raise if he actually took the gig.
Rob Lowe
Lowe is almost done with his excellent run on "Parks & Recreation," a truly brilliant turn that reminded the universe what a great comedic actor he is. And since he's a former satellite Brat Pack member himself, he could bring along the same kind of meta presence that Sheen has provided over the years.
James Van Der Beek
Because we here at the MTV Newsroom blog think Van Der Beek should be cast in just about everything (even if he's a little young for the part). If they make a "Jaws" remake, he should play the shark.
Michael J. Fox
Sheen famously replaced the departing Michael J. Fox on "Spin City," so why couldn't Marty McFly return the favor?
