Lady Gaga is an emotional person. We already know this. And last night on “So You Think You Can Dance,” the pop star did not hold back.
Gaga was so overcome with emotion following a performance by finalist Marko Germar that she had tears running down her face. “I’m just so proud of you,” Gaga said. “There were so, so many things I did wrong when I was younger and so many things that I wish I could take back, and I felt every moment of that through your dance tonight.” For his part, Marko was having trouble keeping it together too.
This is just the latest example of Gaga getting emotional on camera. The pop star has made wearing her heart on her sleeve her calling card, and from the VMAs to her HBO “Monster Ball” special, it seems like Mother Monster is always crying about something.
Sometimes she’s crying because she is overcome with love for her fans. “I just sometimes feel like a loser still,” she cried during a backstage segment of the HBO “Monster Ball” concert special. “I just gotta pick my s**t up, I gotta pick myself up, and I have to tell myself I’m a superstar every morning, so that I can get through this day and be for my fans what they need for me to be.”
Other times, her tears come from joy. That was the case on June 24, the night the senate in her native New York passed marriage equality legislation.
She also sometimes cries when she hears her songs on the radio. (Which has to be a problem, right? Her songs are on the radio all the time.)
While her overly emotional reaction to things can be a bit over-the-top, we also find it kind of endearing. It’s not often that we get to see megastars like Gaga reacting sincerely to things like normal people. We’re not sure if we’d cry because we were proud of a dancer we’d never met, but yeah, we might get misty if we won a Grammy or VMA … and we definitely know where she was coming from when same-sex marriage passed in New York!
