Damn you, Mother Nature!

Shows are getting axed left and right as Hurricane Irene brings her winds and rain to the East Coast. Concerts and festivals featuring performances from Santigold, Cee-Lo Green, Dave Matthews Band, The Roots and Fitz & the Tantrums in New Jersey and New York have been canceled. It’s going to get very wet and maybe a little dangerous out there, so stay indoors and jam this playlist while you weather the storm.

Adele Joins Florence Welsh, Christina Aguilera And Pink Among Best Vocalists To Perform At VMAs

When Adele takes the stage at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, the focus will be on something that sometimes gets overlooked amid the spectacle of the VMAs – her voice.

When we think back on the best VMA performances in recent memory, acts like Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Usher spring immediately to mind with their extravagant sets, backup dancers and otherworldly energy. Don’t get us wrong, these guys sounded great – Beyonce and Gaga are known for their ability to keep up vocally while hitting all the right moves – but we shouldn’t forget to give a little love to the great, stripped-down sets that showcased the performer’s voice above everything else. From Florence + The Machine last year to Pink’s emotional take on “Just Like a Pill” in 2002, some truly great vocal performances have brought down the house at the awards.

What Will Lady Gaga Wear To The VMAs? Hit Twitter To Get In On The Fun

One of the big mysteries surrounding Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards is just what in the holy hell will Lady Gaga wear. The Haus of Gaga stole the show with last year’s sweaty meat dress. In 2009, Lady G rocked a fluffy bird’s nest head wrap, a red lace Alexander McQueen show stopper and enough blood packets for a dozen horror movies.

When I snooped around the Nokia Theater yesterday, I spied a pile of burlap sacks next to Gaga’s assigned seat. While I doubt this is related to what Lady Gaga has planned for Sunday night’s show, it got me thinking about how fierce it would be if she actually showed up wearing a potato sack.

The seat cards have been placed for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards and I got a sneak peek. Most exciting? The front row, or as I like to call it, The Queen B Section – Britney Spears and Beyonce have the best seats in the house. Fitting, since they’re both VMA vets who’ve contributed countless iconic Moonman moments.

I wonder what they’ll talk about during commercial breaks! Perhaps they’ll chat birthday plans? Both Beyonce and Britney turn 30 years old this year.?

In honor of Beyonce reaching the 3-0 milestone first (her b’day is September 4!), let’s start a trending topic on Twitter: #4BeysBday. For example:??

Ultimate VMA Showdown Poll Results Revealed!

We asked and you responded like crazy!

Over the last week or so, we polled you guys about your favorite MTV Video Music Awards moments and boy did you let us know who your favorites were in categories like Most Iconic VMA Performance, Best Video of the 2000s and Best Pop Performance!

All told, we received a staggering 15 million votes in nine categories. By far the most heated contest came in the Most Iconic VMA Moment poll, where we received nearly 10 million votes … and over 9 million of those were split between two acts – Michael Jackson and Bon Jovi. That’s right! Fan groups for the two classic MTV artists got crazy competitive, but ultimately MJ prevailed, taking just over 57 percent of the vote. The late King of Pop’s 1995 VMA performance also took the crown for Best VMA Pop Performance.

There were plenty of surpises too. Panic! At The Disco’s “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” bested videos from Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Beyonce to win the Best VMA Video of the 2000s, and Lil Kim’s nipple pasty outfit from the 1999 awards was voted more outrageous than Lady Gaga’s 2010 meat dress.

Less surprising was Madonna, Britney and Christina Aguilera’s victory in the Most Outrageous VMA Moment poll. Yes, “The Kiss,” as it is famously and simply known, topped another kiss – that of Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley – to take the category.

We’ll have more detailed breakdowns of some of the biggest categories in the lead-up to the 2011 MTV VMAs, which air live from Los Angeles on Sunday at 9 PM. For now, here are the raw numbers for each category (we’ll have the winner for Best VMA-Winning Video of All Time after polls close on Saturday). VMA Video Of The Year Winners Year By Year

With the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards just days away, we’re starting to get really excited.

This year’s Video of the Year race has to be one of the most unpredictable in recent memory. Let’s be real for a second: There were a bunch of great videos last year too, but Lady Gaga’s iconic “Bad Romance” clip kind of had it in the bag from the get-go, right? But this year, everybody is bringing something so different to the table that we have no idea which way it will go!

Don’t forget to vote for your favorite at the VMAs’ website. We have to admit, it was darn near impossible to choose between Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” the Beastie Boys’ “Make Some Noise,” Bruno Mars’ “Grenade,” Katy Perry’s “Firework” and Tyler, The Creator’s “Yonkers.” Somehow we made a decision and now it’s your turn!

Hot Chelle Rae Vs MTV News' Jim Cantiello: Help Decide The Challenge

MTV Video Music Awards week brings out everyone’s competitive side. Nominees campaign for votes, performers try to out-do each other in the main show, and on the red carpet (or black carpet, as it is this year) celebs hope to have the most outrageous outfit.

Hell, I’m even getting in on the VMA spirit. Earlier today, I challenged “Tonight Tonight” faves Hot Chelle Rae to a VMA face-off that’s part “Double Dare” physical challenge, part pop culture quiz and entirely insane. And the platinum-selling rock stars agreed to take me on!

But we need your help! We’ve dreamed up three fantastic ideas for challenges but can only do one. So we’ll let you decide!

Option #1: Re-Enact All Five Video of the Year Nominees in 60 Seconds!
Option #2: Moonman Benchpressing! (Special Appearance By A Lifesize Moonman!)
Option #3: The “Make Your Own Meat Dress” Race!

Ozzy Osbourne Documentary Is A Candid, Moving Look At A Complex Legend

REVIEW: It takes guts to create something as intimate and personal as “God Bless Ozzy Osbourne,” a new eye-opening documentary on the Prince of Darkness and his music legacy. His son Jack co-produced the film in an attempt to eliminate the negative perception that is sometimes associated with the singer due to his much-publicized history of extreme debauchery, and the outcome is a moving portrait through the eyes of a new-and-improved, sober Ozzy.

Beginning with pre-show backstage footage of the man himself in more recent years, Ozzy is found working out and putting to use a vocal warm-up CD that was made just for him (something you expect from Adele but not a metal god). The footage is boring and a complete opposite of the image one typically has of Ozzy Osbourne’s backstage pre-show rituals, but that’s the point. The man is 62 years old, this is his life now, and clearly he’s doing much better considering he exercises and takes care of his voice.

The film then rewinds to Ozzy’s childhood, which is portrayed as a struggling time, but the vintage photos show him as never noticing – constantly wearing a grin and pulling pranks to make others laugh. The film is rather light on explaining how he formed Black Sabbath, but does document their dumbfounding rise to the top (Jack Osbourne has said the DVD will include much more footage), which was unheard of for a metal band like Sabbath.
