As "America's Next Top Model" kicked off its all-stars season, Tyra Banks was on the hunt for a new permanent judge on panel. The first few episodes of the season feature guest judges like Ashlee Simpson and Nicki Minaj.
In the previous 16 cycles, "ANTM" audience members have seen a slew of different judges in the attempt to replace the infamous Janice Dickinson. Banks has experimented with former models Twiggy and Paulina Porizkova, both of whom left the show after a few seasons. The most recent judge was Andre Leon Talley, editor-at-large at Vogue.
None of these judges were able to reproduce the magic of "ANTM's" glory years with Dickinson being the loud-mouthed, blunt and often-times slightly crazy judge. Watching Dickinson berate a girl for her weight or dance around ridiculously during the panel made for some damn good television. And now here comes Kelly Cutrone, PR queen. We all remember her from "The Hills" and "The City" yelling at her interns and employees like it was her job (I guess it kind of was). After those series, Cutrone scored a show on Bravo called "Kell on Earth." If Tyra is trying to re-ignite the drama in her show, Cutrone seems like a good contender, with her foul mouth and steely hard-ass demeanor. We can definitely count on Kelly not to sugar coat any of her opinions.
Here are 3 reasons why Cutrone is the perfect fit for "ANTM."
1. She can really break a girl down, as she's proven many times on "The Hills." She's harsh with the criticism but brutally honest and that makes for such juicy television.
2. Despite her sharp tongue, she does have a self-professed mothering streak in her. When her focus shifts to constructive criticism, she offers up some pretty good advice. The woman is also a sound-bite machine.
3. Cutrone is the real deal – with 25 years of experience under her belt as a top fashion publicist. She is very familiar with running fashion shows and has excellent input. Not only that, but she also as an extensive network of connections to spice up runway events. Potty mouth aside, she really does know what she's talking about.
