Kathy Griffin has made a career of ribbing celebrities, so it's no surprise that the comedienne is now sending up one of most iconic images in pop music history.

Griffin has been named to the OUT 100, the magazine's annual list honoring the most influential people in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community as well as straight allies who support LGBT causes. And yes, that's openly gay "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson helping to keep this picture mostly safe for work.

"To pay homage to their individualism, this year's portfolio is inspired by iconic portraits of the 20th century, from Richard Avedon's image of a shaving Marlon Brando and Robert Mapplethorpe's Patti Smith to Herb Ritts's Madonna and Harry Benson's timeless portraits of the Beatles pillow-fighting," OUT says on its website.

In OUT's portfolio, Griffin and Ferguson recreate Janet Jackson's famous 1993 Rolling Stone cover, which featured Jackson in a simple pair of jeans with her bare breasts being cupped by then-unknown husband Rene Elizondo Jr. Read more...

It's been two weeks since news broke that Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kris Humphries after only 72 days or marriage. She was criticized from coast to coast, with many wondering whether her image would take a beating.

Now she's said thank you to her fans in a unique way, by blowing them all a kiss from her official Web site (at Celebuzz).

Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank you guys for all your support these last two weeks. I took a break from blogging for a while, but I’ve missed you guys so much and I want to start sharing my updates with you all again.

I’ve been reading all your comments on here and, as always, my loyal blog dolls have been nothing but supportive. You all know who you are, so thank you! I love you guys. Kim xo

That's it. Nothing more and nothing less from the woman who knows exactly how to make sure she doesn't turn her back on her legion of fans, which at the moment is over 11 million strong on Twitter.

What do Kanye West, the Jonas Brothers, Mel Gibson and Marc Jacobs all have in common? Well, they've all been lampooned on "South Park."

Jacobs recently appeared on the show. Well, actually, a doll-likeness of him called Muscle Man Marc appeared on the show. And the famed designer told MTV News last week that he can't believe he was chosen to be a part of the episode, appearing alongside Cartman's other dolls at a tea party.

"It is the coolest honor ever that I will never ever… I can't imagine anything greater happening to me in this lifetime," he explained to us. "'I'm just a doll in Cartman's room, so I guess I'm not really a character, but I don't know. They've made fun of so many people and rightfully so."

Taylor Swift, Instagram

Taylor Swift, Instagram

By Zachary Swickey

Country darling Taylor Swift has had one heck of a year – including winning Entertainer of the Year at last week’s Country Music Association Awards – and the songstress continues to slay the charts while making plans for her eventual fourth album.

Swift’s last disc, Speak Now, has two new songs set to debut in the top 15 of this week’s Billboard singles chart – “Ours” and “If This Was a Movie” – which were previously only available on the Target-exclusive deluxe edition but were made available to digital retail outlets last Tuesday. It’s estimated the singles will sell around well over 100,000 copies each with possible debuts in the top 10 if sales are strong enough.

Other bonus songs that recently became available digitally include “Superman,” “Mine” and alternate versions of select Speak Now tracks.

Swift broke all sorts of records when she placed 11 different songs simultaneously from Speak Now on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It's an amazing achievement in and of itself, but even more so when you realize Swift is the only female artist to ever hit this mark (only the Beatles and, oddly, “American Idol” alum David Cook can boast similar charting). She’s also the only artist to do this with songs culled from a single album – the Beatles did it with songs across various projects, while David Cook did it with 11 individual singles – and Swift is the only one to do it with self-written songs (the Beatles included covers and Cook didn’t write his own tunes).

That even more individual, non-single tracks from the set are still charting a year after its release speaks to Swift's undeniably popularity. Everything she touches turns to gold! Read more...

“Breaking up is hard to do,” sang Neil Sadaka, and Lady Gaga certainly can understand the sentiment. After all, she’s endured a long and tumultuous on-and-off relationship with ex-boyfriend Luc Carl, muse for “You and I,” who she reportedly broke up with for the second time just a couple of months ago. While Gaga the New York City girl may find ending a relationship difficult, Gaga the business mogul, however, seems much more decisive. After a series of clashes over differing visions on a number of projects, Gaga has decided to cut ties with her long-time collaborator, creative director and choreographer Laurieann Gibson.

Gibson, as Little Monsters are well aware, choreographed the iconic dance moves for “Bad Romance” and other Gaga classics like “Telephone” and “Born This Way,” so her absence will definitely be felt in the Haus of Gaga. Not that Gaga is worrying right now, of course. With her status as pop music’s reigning princess, Gaga must have a line of choreographers eager to work with her. But who will be able to mesh with Mama Monster’s creative vision and raise her choreography game to the next level?

We think these five top-notch choreographers will be able to create some magic with the superstar. Read more...

Kim K

Sure, Kim Kardashian has her celebrity supporters (we're looking you Trina and Lala), but there also seems to be a growing number of celebrity folk who are a bit tired of all the hoopla around Kim and her split from short-lived hubby Kris Humphries.

Talk show hosts Chelsea Handler and Wendy Williams seem to either want to distance themselves from Kim or don't get why Kim ran away from addressing the split head on in the first place. In the case of Mariah Carey, she mistakenly took a jab at Kim when she commented on how short some Hollywood marriages last.

According to a New York Post report out today, at a show in the Big Apple last week, pop crooner Michael Buble had some fiery words for the reality starlet. “Ladies and gentleman, I have a very special guest. Please welcome Kim Kardashian [to the stage]," Buble reportedly told the crowd at the P.C. Richard & Son Theater. Of course, Kim wasn't there, and Buble had this juicy nugget to add: “Nah, just [bleeping] with you! That bitch isn’t coming on my stage.”

Adele's music is widely acclaimed for its emotional resonance and it seems that the diva's voice and powerful lyrics can reduce even the world's biggest band and one of Hollywood's top up-and-comers to tears.

That was the joke during a sketch on "Saturday Night Live" this weekend. In the skit, Emma Stone and Co. played officemates who discover that whenever you need a good cry, Adele's "Someone Like You" is the perfect track to turn to.

So secretly universal is breaking down to Adele's hit that Kristen Wiig's character declares, "Everyone with a heart and an iTunes account does it."

Later, in a bit of behind-the-scenes fun, we see this week's musical guest Coldplay losing it while watching the sketch on a monitor.

This was Stone's second time hosting the show and she proved once again that her natural comic timing and graceful presence make one of the best "SNL" hosts in recent memory (actually, between Stone, Melissa McCarthy and Charlie Day, "SNL" is having a pretty strong season so far).

Check out the full episode after the jump. (The Adele sketch begins at about 52:10.) Read more...

Ashton Kutcher

If we've learned one thing from celebrity Twitters, it's that publicists and managers exist for a reason.

Last week, Ashton Kutcher found himself in the thick of this problem when he took to Twitter to voice his opposition to the firing of Penn State coach Joe Paterno. Of course, when his followers started calling him out, Kutcher revealed that he didn't have all the facts in the case and apologized profusely, but the damage was pretty much done.

But Kutcher is far from the first star to make some misguided statements on Twitter that led to a bit of scandal. From LeAnn Rimes, whose self portraits in a bikini led many to speculate she has an eating disorder (which she has denied extensively and non-stop since), to seemingly anti-gay statements from 50 Cent and Chris Brown, the social network has seen more than a few cases of celebrity Twitter use gone bad.

Our friends at MTV Act compiled a list of Twitter cautionary tales for the ages. Head on over to check it out and remember to think before you tweet.

Madonna

NEW YORK – On Saturday night at the Roseland Ballroom, the Queen of Pop held court with some of her biggest fans and ten of the world's best dancers for the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange's Dance 4 Madonna competition, with one lucky dancer chosen to join Madonna's dance crew.

The event was the culmination of a months-long online search where contestants were encouraged to submit 60-second clips of themselves getting into the groove. The best of the best then made their way to NYC to audition in front of Madonna for a spot on her next tour.

Madonna arrived fashionably late – let's say she was very fashionable on Saturday – and as soon as she was in the house, things kicked off with a massive group performance. International groups mixing both modern and traditional dance hit the stage first to warm up the crowd. After the opening number wrapped, Madonna emerged from under the main stage in a revealing black body suit (that booty!), knee-high boots and a bloused white shirt.

The crowd went nuts, of course. Read more...
