I realize this may come as a shock to you, but Noel Gallagher does not care about maintaining a robust online presence.
In fact, after interviewing him on Thursday, I'm reasonably sure he is unaware he even has a Facebook page, official website or Twitter account. Why? Well, for starters, because he is Noel Gallagher. But also because he thinks they're a complete waste of time.
How do I know this? Well, he told me, in a delightfully unhinged rant that began when I asked him if releasing his first post-Oasis solo album (the genuinely pretty great Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds) meant that he'd also have to step up his social-media game, since the prevailing logic these days seems to equate online connectivity with, well, sales. Here's his answer. And yes, it was everything I'd hoped it would be ... and then some.
"No, life's to short to tweet. I don't understand what's interesting about rock stars and their tweets and what color socks they wear. Who gives a sh--? People used to be interested in rock stars because there was a sense of mystery to them; you didn't know what David Bowie was doing, you didn't know what makeup he was wearing, you didn't even know if he was going to be Ziggy Stardust one year or the Thin White Duke the next. You cannot convince me that it is in any way magical for me to be tweeting 'On the way to the studio. Wearing green socks. It's going to be a great day. Should I have coffee or tea? Hmmm, food for thought.' Who gives a sh--? Seriously, who cares? Sad people, they care."
Of course, if you think he stopped there, well, then you probably don't know Noel Gallagher. After the jump, watch as he not only rips Facebook, but manages to put a member of his inner circle on notice, too. It's the kind of multitasking that they make Apps for, really.

We don't really get into movie talk too much here on the MTV Newsroom Blog because, you know, there's an entire MTV Movies Blog for that and it's pretty awesome.
But a certain movie has cast a devious spell on me and I just have to tell you about it. The movie is "Dark Shadows" and I will be writing about it every Friday for MTV News. If you're interested, pop culture-obsessed MTV Newsers will actually be keeping weekly tabs on a variety of major upcoming film releases – "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn," "The Avengers," "The Hunger Games" and "The Dark Knight Rises."
You should give them all a read. We live for this stuff, so you can expect the appropriate amount of fanboy/girl excitement and insider buzz.
Now, back to "Dark Shadows." I just can't wait for it. Though I am only 28 years old, I am a fan of the original soap, which ran from 1966-71 (but was re-aired during my childhood on the SyFy Channel) and think the cast, from Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer (iconic!) to Chloe Moretz and Helena Bonham Carter, that director Tim Burton has assembled is pretty perfect.
So check out my first column on "Dark Shadows" and visit MTV Movies daily for the latest Hollywood happenings.

Buzz started late this week that Howard Stern was in negotiations to take over Piers Morgan's seat on 'America's Got Talent.' And this appears to be moving full steam ahead. The Wall Street Journal reports that a deal is being discussed where Mr. Stern would earn about $15 million a year to join Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne at the judges' table. There is even talk that NBC would move production of the show to New York to accommodate the self-proclaimed King of All Media.
'America's Got Talent' often brings in 14 million viewers a week, and I can assume that many of these devotees don't land in the standard Stern demographic. When they hear Stern may be coming to the show, they might recoil in horror with visions of a sex-crazed shock jock soiling their family-friendly show.
But as a devoted listener of Stern's for over 18 years, it's time to speak up. The hiring of Stern to replace Morgan could be a game-changing move. There is no one on the planet more qualified to join -- and stand out from -- the endless bench of talent TV judges and his hire would make a smash show even bigger.
Listen To More From Howard 100 News on the 'Talent' Rumors
Howard Stern = Music: Many Stern detractors claim he has no place on a talent show because he has no connection to music. They ask why anyone would listen to a shock jock's opinion on matters he knows nothing about. What they forget is that Howard Stern and music are synonymous.
Remember that before Stern ever appeared as Fartman on our own VMA Awards, he spent years forging a career through the back channels of rock and roll radio when radio actually meant something. Howard was a true tastemaker, slaving away on rock stations such as WRNW in New York, WCCC in Connecticut and WWWW in Detroit in the days when DJs were true influencers, making artists surge on the charts before there was any such thing as iTunes or YouTube.
Stern created his own style, breaking away from the strict formats of radio that demanded traffic and weather and news had to be delivered at certain moments. And while his searing social commentary and his chatter with guests and his own staff became the backbone of his show in the '80s through today, Stern never lost that intimate connection with music.
It still fuels the Stern show. Anyone listening daily knows that the show kicks off with replays of musical performances or that everything from current rock to recent pop tunes are played as bumpers going in and out of commercials. A sizable chunk of Stern's best guests over the years have included musical artists from every genre, from Paul McCartney to Stevie Wonder to Katy Perry to Jay-Z to Coldplay's Chris Martin just this week. We're not much of a mystic, but we sometimes catch ourselves making a wish at 11:11. Well, today is 11/11 and at 11:11 AM the world will end we think it can't hurt to make a wish because, depending on who you ask, the time and date are significant.
Some people think it's a bad thing because the number 11 was tied to "pure evil" by numerologists in medieval times. Of course, they also thought the earth was flat, so, you know, grain of salt.
Others think 11/11/11 is representative of a new spiritual awakening, some sort of brief window into the spiritual world. Behave accordingly!
Of course, scientists can always be counted on to come on in and rain on the parade, saying that the only reason any special significance is attributed to 11/11 or 11:11 is because of the human tendency to find meaning or patterns in randomly occurring data, a phenomenon called apophenia.
Whatever. We think it probably can't hurt to make a wish for something big and maybe listen to Rufus Wainwright's cool song "11:11," which you'll find after the jump. Regardless of what happens in a few hours, have a happy Friday. Read more...

Batten down the hatches … if you thought Piers Morgan was a meanie you ain't seen nothin' yet!
Morgan could be a real prig on "America's Got Talent," which is kind his whole deal, so now that he's leaving the show to focus on his work at CNN, execs at NBC are looking for a fitting replacement and the Wall Street Journal reports they think they've found one in the form of shock jock Howard Stern.
That's right! Stern is reportedly in talks to become a judge on the talent competition and would earn a hefty $15 million a year to join Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel on the show.
Think he's a good choice? Vote in our poll below!

When we asked Marc Jacobs about his always brilliant casting of celebrities for his cheeky clothing ads, we had no idea the hubbub that was brewing regarding a recent one starring Dakota Fanning.
You see, U.K.’s Ad Standards Authority found the Oh, Lola! ad featuring the 17-year-old to perhaps be a bit too cheeky, PEOPLE reports. In it, Fanning wears a pale blush colored dress, her legs outstretched in front of her as the bottle rests atop of them. It seems the placement of that bottle was a bit too much for the Authority who had this to say:
“The length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child.”
Well, regardless of what they have to say about that ad (which, by the way, we don't really see the big deal about), Jacobs did give us some insight into how he casts folks like Dakota and hinted that there was one recent celebrity who didn't want to play. It's kind of like a blind item from the most reliable source!

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that a 20-year-old Mariah Yeater filed suit in San Diego on Halloween claiming she had a sexual encounter with Justin Bieber following his Oct. 25, 2010, concert at Los Angeles' Staples Center that resulted in her becoming pregnant with his child. Bieber vehemently denies that Yeater's 3-month-old son is his (or that he has ever even met her) and has agreed to take a paternity test in the case.
"We are encouraged that Justin Bieber will voluntarily take the paternity test," Yeater's attorneys Lance Rogers and Matt Pare told TMZ earlier this week. For her part, Yeater is busily making the interview rounds, most recently talking about her alleged affair with Bieber to "The Insider."
Bieber's lawyer has said he will "vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations." But what exactly does that entail? Beyond disproving his paternity in the case, what other legal options are available to Bieber should he decide to pursue them in hopes of warning others that making allegations like these, if they are false, is not a smart move?
According to family law attorney Vikki Ziegler, whose new book " The Premarital Planner: Your Complete Legal Guide to a Perfect Marriage" hits stores in January, if Yeater's accusation that the "Mistletoe" singer fathered her child is proven false, there could be potential legal repercussions for Yeater should Bieber chose to pursue them. By fixer upper, we mean mess.
The house isn't in the best shape and Rihanna is looking to take a (gulp!) $2.4 million loss on her one-time crib. (She bought the 8,520-square foot Beverly Hills residence for $6.9 million.)
The listing, as reported by The Real Estalker, notes that that property has "EXTENSIVE water intrusion from (but not limited to) roof, windows, doors and balconies," is "subject to a short-sale" and "WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR BANK FINANCING" (caps courtesy of the actual listing). Wonder why Rihanna is looking to unload the joint?
With the No. 1 single in the country and a hot, hot, HOT new album about to drop, we can see why RiRi would rather just ditch the house despite the ritzy zip code and look for a new West coast jam. The bathroom is super cool-looking at least.

Justin Bieber announced that he is giving up his pet boa constrictor Johnson to charity, perhaps because he's too busy working on world domination.
A disclaimer on the auction site warns: "Keeping a pet snake is a long-term responsibility. Before making any decision about keeping one, please ensure you have the money, space, knowledge, time, resources and enthusiasm required to properly care for the species you intend to keep, for the duration of its life."
That warning isn't wrong and hints at why a star as busy as Bieber had to part ways with the boa. Pet-Snakes.com says that it takes a certain kind of person to handle a snake. Responsibilities include:
Overall health of the snake. It’s something you should pay attention to each and every day.
Feeding. Knowing what to feed, when to feed, and how to feed.
Environment. Keeping the snakes home at the right temperature and right humidity can be a lot of work.
Handling. Your snake should be handled on a daily basis in most instances. You shouldn’t handle it for 24-48 hours after eating and at least 5-7 days after you bring it home.
Cleanliness. Because snakes don’t relieve themselves on a daily basis it can be easy to forget about cleaning their tanks, but you have to keep up with it.

Too adorable to fail Taylor Swift won the top prize at the County Music Association Awards and as usual seemed positively shocked that anyone would give her an award despite a trophy case that already contains four Grammys, seven American Music Awards, 11 Billboard Music Awards and five previous CMAs.
After claiming her Entertainer of the Year prize, she took to Twitter to thank her fans and do other adorable things, most notably thanking the many superstars who've joined her on stage during her guest-heavy Speak Now world tour, including Nicki Minaj, Usher, Jason Mraz, Haley Williams of Paramore, T.I. and Justin Timberlake, by listing them on her arm and taking a picture with her new kitten. (Seriously, could she have found any other way to make this showing of gratitude more Taylor Swift than include a kitten?)
In another true-to-form moment she also somehow managed to find a Christmas tree backstage. Of course she did.
