Hanson has a new venture they are getting ready to unleash onto the world. Having found success with their breakthrough, still-catchy pop tune “MMMBop” back in the ’90s, the brothers are hoping to find a whole new brand of success in the new millennium with their own beer, the aptly titled “MMMHop.” (Oh! Puns!)
Rolling Stone reports that the beer, described as “an Indian Pale Ale,” will hit shelves in early 2012. “We are soon going to be selling our own beer, I’m not even joking. MMMHop IPA, anyone?” Zac Hanson told reporters at Oxford University Union in Oxford, England, on Monday, of the new project. “We of course make records, they are fundamental to what we do, but we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience. What is vital is that Hanson merchandise is quality and not made solely with the purpose of profit. It’s vital our fans have trust in everything Hanson do. ”
The guys, however, are quick to point out that they do draw the merchandising line somewhere. Read on to see where.
“We have a board game and even a record player to play our last record on,” Zach said, “but we will never make dolls, lunch boxes or toothbrushes that play our songs, for example.”
The brothers Hanson are hardly the first musicians to go into the alcohol industry. Justin Timberlake, Diddy and Sammy Hagar have all branched out aligning themselves with various forms of alcohol, though perhaps with less word play.
