10. Kim Kardashian Files For Divorce (240K)
It was the early Christmas gift that just keeps on giving for tabloid editors and gossip bloggers. When Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from her husband of 72 days, Kris Humphries, everyone sort of lost their minds. The announcement inspired a major public backlash, as everyone with intact brain cells felt like the curtain had been pulled back on the Kardashian reality empire. Accusations that the couple's entire relationship had been faked for the cameras abounded and the public felt duped by the massive, millions-making wedding spectacular that aired on E! Of course, momager Kris Jenner was conveniently on her book tour when the announcement was made and denied the claims.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision," Kim told MTV News in a statement. "I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best." The thing is, they do not remain friends: Humphries recently counter-filed for an annulment from Kim claiming fraud. If you are at all interested in watching the one-time couple's true love come undone, E! is currently airing "Kourtney & Kim Take New York," which focuses largely on the downfall of the Kardashian-Humphries relationship.

9. Ryan Dunn's Passenger ID'd As Investigation Continues (261K)
The tragic passing of "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn (the initial report of Dunn's death appears even higher on our list of most viewed stories) captivated MTV readers early this summer. In the days following the incident, as details of the alcohol-related accident began to come into focus, we learned the identity of the passenger in Dunn's car, Zachary Hartwell, and some details of the one-car accident, which took place around 2:30 AM on June 20. According to the West Goshen (Pennsylvania) Police Department, Dunn's 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 flew through 40 yards of trees before colliding with one and bursting into flames. The initial police press release reported that the "preliminary investigation revealed that speed may have been a contributing factor to the accident."
8. "Dancing With The Stars" Season 12 Cast Revealed (263K)
People love them some "Dancing With The Stars," don't they? The season 12 cast inspired quite a bit of attention, and why wouldn't it? With big personalities like Kirstie Alley, Kendra Wilkinson, Wendy Williams, sugar Ray Leonard and eventual winner Hines Ward on the bill, fans of the reality TV competition had plenty of reasons to get excited.
7. Anne Hathaway's "Dark Knight Rises" Catwoman Costume Revealed (273K)
Nerds rejoice! In early August, production stills from director Christopher Nolan's HOTLY anticipated "Batman" film found their way online and caused an immediate frenzy. On display was a Catwoman quite different from other film incarnations. Anne Hathaway's anti-hero had no feline ears and no full mask (though we got more of that later); instead, fans got a look at the Oscar-nominated actress with her hair tied back, sporting black goggles and a skintight black jumpsuit while riding what appears to be the Batpod. The images caused such a stir that MTV News reached out to "Batman" experts to get their reactions on the costume and while the reactions were mixed, many praised the costume's functionality.
6. Amy Winehouse Found Dead in London Home (331K)
It was a sad day in music when inarguably talented, long trouble British songstress Amy Winehouse was found dead in her North London home on July 23. "Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05 hours today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene," a press release from police in Camden stated. "Inquiries continue into the circumstances of death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."
A few weeks earlier, Winehouse performed the first show of a planned European tour at Forest Fest in Belgrade, Serbia, but appeared extremely intoxicated on stage. The "Back to Black" singer reportedly showed up more than an hour late and once there, repeatedly left the stage, forgot lyrics to her songs and even dropped the mic as the 20,000-person crowd booed her set. After the show, she canceled festival appearances in Turkey and Greece and so thereafter scrapped her entire tour.
In late-October, the cause of Winehouse's death was revealed to have been related to excessive alcohol consumption. A British coroner's investigation determined that the "Rehab" singer had more than five times the legal driving limit of alcohol in her body, enough to stop cause respiratory distress and even stop her breathing. The autopsy and toxicology results also supported the claims of her family that the soul singer had kicked her drug habit, as no illegal drugs were found in her system at the time of her passing.
