Move over Mary-Kate and Ashley, there’s a new set of twins in town and they are ready to take the music world by storm.
Michigan-born, 19-year-old fraternal twins Megan and Liz Mace, known as simply Megan & Liz, just released their new single, “Bad For Me,” a catchy pop anthem that even incorporates some hip-hop influences.
You may recognize Megan & Liz from their YouTube videos, as the girls have a highly engaged and devoted online following, with over 700,000 YouTube subscribers and 167 million total video views. You can also currently catch them performing “Bad For Me” in a national commercial for Macy’s, airing on all major networks now through September 7.
It all started five years ago, when Megan & Liz uploaded their first video to YouTube. However, things really started to change for the singers this past year when they won Macy’s iHeart Radio Rising Star Contest and landed the opportunity to perform at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
The number one reason girls will love the twins is because their songs tell stories that teen and young adult girls can relate to, about everything from relationships to dealing with bullying. “Bad For Me” is about liking a bad boy, something every girl has fallen into at one point or another.
Plus, they are super down to earth and appreciative of their fans and supporters.
On her blog, the brunette half of the twosome, Megan, wrote about their recent successes, saying, “These are the dreams I’ve been dreaming about since I was 10 years old and knew what I wanted to do with my life. It’s been such a long, tough journey and I can’t believe all of you have stuck with us through it all.” She goes on to say, “I hope this is just the beginning.”
We definitely think it is. Not only are Megan & Liz relatable and crazy talented, but all the success they have achieved so far is the result of a do-it yourself approach. This, alongside their work ethic, makes them prime examples of great role models, much like one of their personal favorite singer/songwriters, Taylor Swift. According to the twins, they cannot wait to check off one of their bucket list goals and open for Taylor at the iHeart Radio Festival in September.
