By Zachary Swickey

Coldplay crooner Chris Martin has revealed that he had to throw out a singing intruder who had forced his way into the singer’s personal garden.

It clearly wasn’t a hostile situation as Martin recounted the story to the Daily Mirror: “I had a guy the other day who climbed over the gate of our house and started singing Coldplay songs to his friends on the street.”

Perhaps Martin was digging the intruder’s cover versions, because the (likely drunk) fan was already on Coldplay hit number three or four when Martin finally intervened, saying, “Listen, you’re not doing that right.” No, Martin didn’t join him in the sing-a-long, but he didn’t call the cops either. “He politely left. It was bordering on intrusion. Still, it’s nice that people like the songs,” Martin continued. No word on whether his wifey, Gwyneth Paltrow, got to hear the renditions.

Haven’t we all wanted to scale Chris Martin’s fence and serenade our passing friends on the street? OK, maybe you haven’t, but if you’re itchin’ to hear Coldplay in person you’ll have plenty of chances coming up in 2012.

The band will be ringing in the New Year in Abu Dhabi by kicking off the Volvo Ocean Race that is being hosted by the Emirate. Then, after taking a few deserved months off, the band will begin its first leg of stateside dates before heading back for a quick UK tour – a process they will then repeat with a second stateside visit and various Euro-dates that have already been booked for fall 2012.

Adele's music is widely acclaimed for its emotional resonance and it seems that the diva's voice and powerful lyrics can reduce even the world's biggest band and one of Hollywood's top up-and-comers to tears.

That was the joke during a sketch on "Saturday Night Live" this weekend. In the skit, Emma Stone and Co. played officemates who discover that whenever you need a good cry, Adele's "Someone Like You" is the perfect track to turn to.

So secretly universal is breaking down to Adele's hit that Kristen Wiig's character declares, "Everyone with a heart and an iTunes account does it."

Later, in a bit of behind-the-scenes fun, we see this week's musical guest Coldplay losing it while watching the sketch on a monitor.

This was Stone's second time hosting the show and she proved once again that her natural comic timing and graceful presence make one of the best "SNL" hosts in recent memory (actually, between Stone, Melissa McCarthy and Charlie Day, "SNL" is having a pretty strong season so far).

Check out the full episode after the jump. (The Adele sketch begins at about 52:10.)

If our conversation in the morning news meeting was any indication, it will prove a mouthful for even diehard fans.

The album is due October 25, with the official first single, "Paradise," due September 12 (which apparently makes "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" the street single). Mylo features production work from Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, with "enoxification and additional composition by Brian Eno," and probably includes tracks like "MX/Hurts Like Heaven," "Major Minus," "Us Against the World" and "Charlie Brown," which the band have premiered live in recent months.

And while all of that is certainly noteworthy, today, I'd rather talk about the title itself. Because not only does it sound like a clothing-optional beach in the Greek Isles (or a nasty viral disease,) but, because it is largely inscrutable, it also inspires the inner etymologist within me. What, exactly, is the language of origin (Latin?) Googling it just brings up lots of Coldplay Web sites. How, precisely, is it pronounced? (Oh, just scanning the press release now, and apparently it's "my-lo zy-letoe.") And, since we're on the subject, just how many anagrams can you pull from its 10 letters?

Of course, it bears mention that whenever you're talking about pronunciation and anagrams, you know you're in the presence of true titular greatness. So, after spending some serious time with a pen and a piece of paper, here's every possible anagrammatic combination I can think of. The word "Ox" comes up a lot. For whatever reason, I'd like to think that makes Chris Martin happy.

Presenting to you anagrams from Mylo Xyloto:

Molly Toy Ox

Toll My Ox Yo

Lo Lox My Toy

Lot Lox My Yo

Yo, My Toy Lox

My Toy Lox Lot

Rather see them in animated form? Enjoy:

By Morgan Schwartz and Matt Goodhue

With the sun out and the nights cool, summer is all about parties and having a good time. These new indie/rock tracks will keep your summer nights going until the sun rises, whether you're at a packed party or just hanging with your close friends. Each song has a different dynamic that captures the feel of summer, making the days and nights feel like they'll last forever.

1. “Under Cover of Darkness,” The Strokes

Julian Casablanca's ability to control a song with his voice is clearly evident in this summer jam. The screechy guitar bends and fast-paced drums create an upbeat, catchy feel and a chorus with the perfect hook. Take one listen and you'll be singing this for the rest of the day.

2. “Fire Away,” Dawes

With the release of their sophomore album, Nothing is Wrong, released earlier this month, this southern California rock band proved its flair for writing smooth verses that explode into a heavy chorus. The vocal harmonies during the breakdown, featuring Jackson Browne on the record, are perfect for a sing-a-long with your friends. Also, lead singer and guitarist Taylor Goldsmith completely shreds on this one.

3. “Sydney (I'll Come Running),” Brett Dennen

This northern California singer-songwriter might have the catchiest pop-rock song of the summer. His powerful melody and agile vocal range flows right from the start, with awesome group vocals in the chorus that will make you scream at the top of your lungs. You'll want to put this song on repeat and dance until your legs can't move any longer.

4. “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall,” Coldplay

The latest single from one of the world's biggest rock bands is certainly no disappointment. While the electronic beat motivates the song, the UK band doesn't stray too far from their roots with an acoustic guitar riff providing the backbone. Chris Martin's falsetto leads to a pretty epic breakdown at the end. This is sure to be a club favorite, just turn on a strobe light and go nuts.

5. “Weekend,” Smith Westerns

The young Chicago-based band captives the essence of a party scene with this chill rock song. A crunchy guitar lick shapes this tune and will keep your head bobbing and your feet tapping. Throw this one on at a party and there will be no complaints, other than requests to turn it way up.

What are your favorite songs of the summer? Let us know in the comments below!

It's the best and worst moment of every U.S. festivalgoer's life: schedule day. On the one hand, you can't wait to see when your favorite bands are playing and then start planning your long weekend. On the other, you dread the sight of two of your absolute faves playing on opposite sides of the mile-long field at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME!

In which case Tuesday (June 7) morning was either a huge relief or a major bummer if you're planning on trekking to Chicago on August 5 for Lollapalooza. First, the good news: With the exception of a few headliner conflicts, the schedule is actually one of the most fan-friendly rundown in years.

Yes, Muse and Coldplay are playing at the same time on Friday night, which will probably cause major headaches for thousands of fans of falsetto-driven, pomp and circumstance English rock. (To say nothing of the fact that party hardy DJ Girl Talk and excellent post rockers Ratatat are also playing at the same time as the headliners, which may pull some Lollers in yet more directions.)

But the rest of the day has a pretty open schedule that allows for some decent stage hopping. If you start the day off with some solid indie rock courtesy of Wye Oak, it's just a hop, skip and jump to latest English lad rock sensations the Vaccines, with perhaps a stop-off for some psychedelic bits from the Delta Spirit, a touch of hippie-pop from Grace Potter & the Nocturnals and new-wave reminiscing with Foster the People, at which point things pile up a bit.

Awesome Smiths-inspired rock from the Smith Westerns, or English rap from Tinie Tempah? Brainy rock from the Mountain Goats or the latest from Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz's new band, Black Cards? Noise avalanche from Sleigh Bells or arty stomp from a Perfect Circle?

The headliner choice on Saturday night is actually one of the easiest in memory. There's almost no cross-over between Eminem's fans and devotees of My Morning Jacket's trippy excursions, so that's a slam dunk. The rest of the day is easygoing as well, allowing for a taste of the Black Lips' transgressive garage, a bit of modern soul from Mayer Hawthorne, beats from the reunited Death From Above 1979 and some sample-tastic bites from the reformed Big Audio Dynamite.

Cee Lo Green has a pretty open lane around dinner, which can be topped off by Lykke Li's beat-fueled Nordic pop.

Sunday's headliner showdown is another fairly easy call, as rocker Foo Fighters face off against headgear-wearing electronic dance music guru Deadmau5, with Kid Cudi providing another alternative on a small stage. Otherwise, it's a nice glide from the modern country of Ryan Bingham to Jay Electronica's outré rap stylings, into the My Bloody Valentine-like noise wash of the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, a touch of the Cars' nostalgic new wave, some Irish stomping from Flogging Molly, surf sounds from Best Coast, indie soul with Portugal, the Man and a tough dinnertime choice between lad rockers Arctic Monkeys, Southern rockers Manchester Orchestra and the dynamic duo of Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley and Nas.

What's the toughest call of your Lolla schedule? Let us know in comments below!

Did you have the sing-songy chorus of Estelle and Kanye West's Grammy-winning "American Boy" stuck in your head for a good amount of 2008? Well, so did Estelle. That's why she's happy to reveal that she's working on new material as we speak.

"I'm sick of singing 'American Boy,' so we need something else," the West London native confessed at a recent party for the fashion line Chloé.

Recently, Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio — who has produced work for Scarlett Johansson and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs — helped her record a track. "He's amazing," Estelle gushed, "I'm really excited. We just finished a song together. I listened to it all the way here. I'm having a moment. He's really, really cool.''

And when all the songs have been completed, what will the body of work be titled? "Right now, I'm calling the whole project New London," she said, " 'cause it's kind of [about] when I moved from London to New York and when my worlds collided and everything came together."

Although she's made a name for herself with hip-hop and soul music, listeners could be in a for a change in sound; Estelle foresees her next release sounding "somewhere between Marvin Gaye and Coldplay."

Getting one album a year set up and released is enough of a chore amid the smoking ruins of the music business. While albums frequently dropped every four to six months in the 1960s, unless you're multi-band-leader Jack White, the lag time between major releases these days tends to be three or more years. And if you're Guns N' Roses or Dr. Dre, well ...

Some, like Lil Wayne, pack that gap with hundreds of mixtape tunes and guest appearances, but even Weezy seems to be struggling to nail what is shaping up to be the new brass bragging ring in the biz: the two (or three) albums in a year watermark. While his rock album, Rebirth, was supposed to be released this spring, last we knew it was still in the "TBD" category.

So far this year, we've had U2, Eminem and Coldplay saying they'll drop a second brand-new disc of material either in the same calendar year or within 365 days of their most recent efforts. But considering the gaps between their two most recent releases (almost five years, five years and three years, respectively), and the fact that they're among the biggest acts in the world, turning that ship around so quickly would be impressive, though highly unlikely.

And, you might recall, last year Erykah Badu promised that she had a conceptual album trifecta up her billowing sleeve, but so far we've only seen the mind-blowing first chapter released, New Amerykah Part 1, 4th World War. No release date has been set for New Amerykah Part 2, Return of the Ankh, or the third "period piece" album, Lowdown Loretta Brown, all of which were supposed to originally drop in 2008. And, before all his recent legal issues, DMX had said he was going to release a hip-hop and gospel album within months of each other.

You might also recall that Chicago’s Lupe Fiasco promised to end his career with a three-album flurry entitled LUPE.N.D. but that project seems to have been back-burnered as well. Hell, even Cam'ron is talking trifecta, recently telling MTV News that he's got two albums, a soundtrack and two movies in the pipeline for '09.

While plenty of artists have beat the 12-month clock in the past (DMX, Tupac, Jay-Z, and last year, Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails), it's a tough game to play and we're not going to hold our breaths for those new U2, Eminem and Coldplay albums.

But we have full confidence that one artist will deliver exactly as promised.

Prince, notorious for his shelf-buckling backlog of recorded material, also has three albums teed up for release this year, only two of which, LOtUSFLOW3R and MPLSoUND are, technically, his own, plus a third from his protégé, Bria Valente, Elixer, that he had a heavy hand in writing and playing on.

And the reason, unlike all these other acts, that you can believe Prince? He cut an exclusive deal with Target that will see the whole thing drop for the low-low price of $11.98. Maybe front-loading is the key?

Do you think U2, Coldplay and Eminem will get two albums out this year?

Look, Lily, we like you. I mean, we really like you. But if you're trying to impress us by pounding on British paparazzo, even ones that bump into your car, well, it's not going to work. See, we've been around the block a few times, and we know a good pap punch-out when we see one.

In fact, your latest "incident" doesn't even crack our list of the Best Paparazzi Beatdowns — yes, we keep lists about things like this — if only because, based on the photo we saw, your right cross didn't actually connect with the photographer's face. (Nice form, though.) So, if you're looking to win your way into our hearts — and make our next list — well, then perhaps you should read on, and take notes.

Remember, practice makes make perfect, and since those paparazzi aren't going anywhere, we figure that with a little coaching, you'll make our list in no time. So for future reference, Lily, here's our list of the five greatest celeb-on-pap beatdowns in history.

#5: The Björk Bangkok Beatdown
In 1996, Icelandic ingenue Björk arrived at Bangkok's Don Muang Airport after a long flight, looking frazzled and on-edge. As she pushed her way past photographers, one female reporter snickered, "Welcome to Bangkok!," which sent B into a rage. She pounced on the unsuspecting woman, throwing haymakers and grabbing at her hair. The two spilled to the ground, the reporter squealed, and the incident has since become a viral sensation. Björk would later apologize, but early last year, she reportedly went after another paparazzo, tearing his shirt in half at an airport in New Zealand.

#4: Chris Martin
Seriously, who knew the curly-headed Coldplay frontman was a badass? In early 2008, Martin went off the deep end when photographers attempted to snap pics of him and his wife Gwyneth Paltrow leaving a hospital in New York. After one particularly snarky pop offered him congratulations (it was rumored that Paltrow was pregnant, hence the hospital visit) Martin reportedly shoved the man to the ground, swore at him, snatched his camera and told him to "have some respect." Of course, as he tried to get into a waiting car with the camera, a second photographer intervened, calling Martin "a jerk" and said (in the thickest New Jersey accent imaginable), "You give [the camera] back to him, or this door's getting broken." Sometimes, you sort of root for the celebs ...

#3: Kanye West's LAX Meltdown
In September 2008, Kanye West took exception to some overzealous paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport, so the MC and his bodyguard expressed their displeasure by snatching some paps' equipment and rather gleefully smashing it. West and his bodyguard were arrested on charges of felony vandalism, though those charges were later reduced when it was revealed that the equipment was not valuable enough to warrant a felony charge. Still, West got significantly more gangster in just about everybody's book.

#2: Bald Britney's Umbrella Attack
Ah, the halcyon days of 2007 ... The image of a newly-shorn Britney Spears, dressed in shorts and a white hoodie, her eyes wide and manic, wailing on a photographer's SUV with an umbrella has become iconic, which is a pretty sad comment on our society. It was one of the lowest points in a very low period for the pop star, but happily both Britney and the Ford Explorer survived the ordeal, and have since moved on to bigger and better things.

#1: Sean Penn, The Living Legend
Sure, he's mellowed a bit over the past few years, but in the '80s, Penn was so well-known for his punch-ups with paparazzi that scuffles between celebs and photographers became known as "doing a Sean Penn." There were his memorable brawls with photogs when he was dating and married to Madonna, but the incident that made him a legend occurred in Macao in 1986, when he discovered a photographer hiding in his hotel room. Penn reportedly flipped out, grabbed the pap and hung him by his ankles off a ninth-floor balcony. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder before later being acquitted.

You've got a long way to go, Lily!

There's a lot going on in the world that doesn't necessarily get addressed in our Newsroom blog. Here's a look at some top stories making headlines today.

It's Grammy time, and here are our predictions for the winners! (Hint: We're betting heavily on Coldplay.) Also, could M.I.A., Leona Lewis, Rihanna and other female artists up for awards turn the Grammys into ladies' night?

Is Nas' message stronger than his music? We listen to the controversy surrounding the rapper's Untitled, up for a Best Rap Album Grammy.

Day26 clue us in to the mood of their new album — sexy! — and to their dream-team collaborators: "Kanye West, Lil Wayne, T.I., Jeezy, Luda, T-Pain ... we want to work with you."

John Carpenter is back in the director's seat: We hear that the "Halloween" mastermind is set to direct "The Ward," starring Amber Heard, who plays a woman trapped in a haunted mental institution.

Now, I'm not a lawyer. Hell, I barely made it through college. But I'm going to go ahead and say that Coldplay's Chris Martin may have just dug his legal grave. See, Coldplay, as you may have read, are being sued by guitarist Joe Satriani, who claims their song "Viva la Vida" bears an uncanny resemblance to his earlier instrumental "If I Could Fly."

Martin and the band denied the charges, but on Thursday, the singer appeared on the BBC Radio 1's "The Chris Moyles Show" and practically admitted to plagiarism. Only the rip-off he copped to was not of Satriani, but of late singer Jeff Buckley.

"It's a blatant Jeff Buckley attempt," Martin said of the 2000 Coldplay song "Shiver." "Not quite as good, that's what I think. We were 21, and he was very much a hero, and as with those things it tends to filter through."

Again, I'm no legal scholar, but when you're being accused of stealing someone's riffs, common sense dictates that maybe you keep your trap shut about other songs you've released that are open rips of someone's sound. Just a thought.
