Worldwide, the voice of young people has been impacting politics more than ever. It's a movement Barack Obama has been embracing since well before he took office as President of the United States and his commitment to the youth of our great country has not wavered. Now, Pres. Obama is challenging students across the country to share their ideas as part of the White House's Campus Champions of Change contest.

"The White House Champions of Change program highlights the stories and examples of citizens across the country that represent President Obama’s vision of out-innovating, out-educating, and out-building the rest of the world through projects and initiatives that move their communities forward," the White House said. "Many of the most innovative and effective ideas are coming from young people on college campuses across the country."

Entering the competition is easy. Full details and the entry form for the competition can be found on the program's website and for more information on the competition, visit MTV Act blog.

In early 2012, the five teams with the most public support (yeah, the public will decide which campus programs they think are best! Democracy!) will visit the White House and will collaborate with mtvU and MTV Act to create features on their projects that will air on mtvU and be featured on MTV.com. The winning team will host an episode of mtvU’s popular program, Dean's List.

If you are a socially conscious college student looking to affect change, this competition is for you!

For more, visit MTV Act.

By Adam Stewart (@AdamMTVNews)

Summer heat and humidity keeping you locked in the air-conditioning blindly staring at your computer? Well, we’ve got a little something to help you to pass the time as you’re surfing the web for summer time beats on these sweltering afternoons – and the reward is moar than just cheese. So get out your sketch pads, and put on your thinking cap, because it’s your chance to design Deadmau5’s new head.

Team Deadmau5 and Talenthouse are for the first time placing Deadmau5’s head on the line – literally – putting his next signature cranial contraption in the hands of his fans. When MTV News caught up with Deadmau5 backstage before his recent set at Encore Beach in Las Vegas, he admitted that his army of loyal (and intelligent) mau5keteers are naturally already well ahead of the curve.

“[Talenthouse] said ours was the first contest where kids were able to figure out how to cross link their image and then post it somewhere else, so other people could see their entries,” which they don’t normally do, he explained. “[Typically they] collect them all, show them all to us and we can just pick out the good ones, but now I can go back on my Facebook and my Twitter and click the links that the kids are posting to see the heads, so I’ve already seen a lot of them!”

And just what is up for grabs for this friendly competition you ask? Well let’s just say it’s not your average prize pack. Not only will Deadmau5 physically produce and wear the winning Mau5head on his tour, but the winner will also receive a pair of VIP passes, round trip travel and accommodations to one of Deadmau5’s “Meowingtons Hax” tour dates in Los Angeles (August 25-27) … and oh, did we mention you’ll get to meet the man himself? And who knows, maybe you’ll even get to pet his furry sidekick Meowingtons – if you’re lucky.

“At first I thought, ‘Yeah it’s a fun idea that anyone can do because you don’t have to be like a freaking Picasso.’ You can just come up and illustrate a good idea!” he said. “I was expecting just a lot of crap, [but] I started checking some of the links and some were like ‘oh man, why didn’t I think of that!’ So we’re going to pick the one that’s obviously affordable, not the solid gold one, I’m sorry! But I’m going to pick the most creative one, make a head and pick prizes and things.”

Without a doubt, there will be many worthy designs thrown into the mix. So while all can’t get the full service treatment and meet our Canadian friend face to face, the first 5 runners up will receive two VIP tickets to a Deadmau5 show near their home town, and an additional second set of 5 will get their hands on some fancy Deadmau5 signed swag. Not bad for using a little creative elbow grease. Submissions are due by July 12 and winners will be announce on August 3. Visit the Talenthouse website for more information.

Planning on entering the contest or checking out any of the Meowingtons Hax tour? Let us know in the comments below!

By Stefan Doyno

We've been following The Voice lately, and there have been some awkward bumps along the way, but last night's episode finally hit a high note. The finals episode was filled with surprises and creative performances. Here's what happened in case you missed it.

Javier Colon, from Team Adam sang an original song titled "Stitch by Stitch." Adam Levine, his mentor, got choked up after the performance while discussing how close the two had become during the show. “I'm so excited for you, and the amazing things you’re going to do with your career.” Levine said.

Later on, Levine and Colon performed an energetic duet of Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror." It worked out perfectly because Adam made sure to not outshine Javier, letting him have the spotlight for his final performance.

Dia Frampton, the 23-year-old singer/songwriter from the band Meg and Dia, who Christina Aguilera for some reason often refers to as either "cozy" or "cuddly," performed a duet with her coach, Blake Shelton. The two sang Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down." The duet did not have the finesse of Adam and Javier's and the backdrop looked like something out of a Saw movie.

Later on, Dia's original song "Inventing Shadows" was upstaged by a background of interpretive dancing shadows. “I got distracted by all the stuff happening in the background. I didn’t need all the stuff,” Levine said. Even though last night was rough on Dia, her record is pretty solid and this shouldn’t affect her placement during the results.

Vicci Martinez performed an original song too – “Afraid to Sleep," which was about her father who had passed away. The judges reacted positively to the performance. Cee Lo Green stuck with the sentimental theme of the show, telling Vicci, “I am in full and total, complete support of you, I love you so much, I hope you're as proud of me.”

Beverly McClellan and coach Christina Aguilera sang "Beautiful," by …Christina Aguilera. Both singers are great in different ways, but when put together, their performance seemed a bit unbalanced. Luckily, when Beverly took the stage on her own to perform her original track, "Love Sick,", she got to really showcase her talent.

The final performance of the night was a complete showstopper. Vicci Martinez and coach Cee Lo sang “Love is A Battlefield” and killed it.

There where theatrics, of course, from karate and dancing children to spiked football gear. Cee Lo looked like a Power Ranger villain, and Vicci looked like Miley Cyrus back when she couldn't be tamed.

It was the best performance of the night, though, we can’t forget to give props to the great showing from Pitbull and Ne-Yo, who sang their summer anthem “Give Me Everything.”

Awkward Alerts:

>>> “The crazy thing about this show is … we all sit here and have the best time watching you as spectators that’s a really unique quality that no shows really have.” Once again, Adam is pretending he has never heard of American Idol.

>>> Vicci also quickly thanked Adam for giving her a pair of jeans. “I can't say she’s been in my pants,” Blake quipped.

>>> Aguilera could be seen enjoying the backup dancers by playfully clawing at them. Oh, Christina.

>>> Pitbull's lyric "My family's from Cuba, but I'm an American Idol, got money like Seacrest." Hopefully, Adam wasn't paying attention.

Final Word:

Last night, we got to see a more personal side of the judges and their contestants, who ended up looking less like contestants and more like mentees. It seems like The Voice is paving the way for an even bigger and better second season. So who do we think will win? Our guess is Dia Frampton.

Obviously, I can't leave you without one last "Awkward Alert." Did anybody else see Cee Lo’s lewd and crude gesture as the camera panned over the contestants at the end? Apparently “V” doesn’t only stand for “Voice.”

What did you think of last night's episode and who do you think will win tonight? Let us know in the comments below.

From MTV Movies Blog:

By Josh Wigler

The first round of the Harry Potter World Cup has drawn to a close, narrowing the playing field down from the original 64 wizards and witches to a smaller pool of 32 heroes and villains. For the most part, the people you expected to move on have moved on — with some notable exceptions, of course — and as we step forward into Round 2 today, I think you'll find that there are some very, very difficult decisions on the horizon.

But before we look forward, let's look back at what happened in the first round. Get the highlights from Round 1 of the Harry Potter World Cup after the jump!

Minor Upsets

Many of the surprises in the World Cup's first round were of the minor variety. The lower-ranked Professor Flitwick charmed enough fans to float past Divination master Professor Trelawney in the Privet Drive division, while Fawkes the phoenix proved that having numerous lives is much more useful than having, well, none, as Nearly Headless Nick took a dive in Godric's Hollow. Elsewhere in Godric's Hollow, wand master Ollivander prevented dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald from advancing to the second round and facing old rival and lover Albus Dumbledore. Despite the victory, however, Ollivander has his work cut out for him when he goes up against the Hogwarts headmaster in Round 2.

Danny Wood is using his celebrity for a good cause that's very close to his heart. The NKOTBSB member has hooked up with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation to raise money for cancer research. The New Kid is auctioning off a custom painted 2004 Harley Davidson Heritage to help raise funds, and the winner not only gets the bike, but also a bevy of other cool prizes to satiate their boy band appetite.

"My mother passed away 12 years ago from breast cancer and when [the New Kids] got back together, I asked the guys if we could do something to raise money for the Komen Foundation," he told MTV News. "We started selling tank tops [and] we've raised a half a million dollars."

When the New Kids and the Backstreet Boys decided to hit the road together this year, he knew he had to step up his charity game. "I kind of wanted to do something a little bit bigger," he said. "The bike's on display and you can buy raffle tickets and you can win my Harley and a trip to see us."

By Stefan Doyno

Last night was the semi-finals on The Voice, and as with any two-hour live show, there were some pretty awkward moments. Here are some of evening's more uncomfortable moments.

-Christina Aguilera's homage to her "Lady Marmalade" hair.

-Cee Lo getting sentimental during the elimination round, referring to Nakia as "my brother from another mother" and sisters Tori and Taylor Thompson as "delicate little flowers" that he "didn't want anybody to hurt." Coincidentally, they did look a lot like delicate little flowers, but then he stomped on them and eliminated them from the competition.

-Cee Lo wearing two watches while name dropping – “Wonderful song choice. Chris and Gwyneth are great friends of mine."

-Christina Aguilera seemed to be caught a little off guard when Carson Daly asked her, "What advice did you give to Beverly and Frenchie?"

"I'm sorry? They already know all my advice," she fired back.

Of course they do, Christina, but remember you are on a television show – we want to know too.

Read on for more.

-Nakia sang Adam Lambert's "Whataya Want From Me," and Adam Levine complimented his performance and burned the song's original singer all at the same time, saying, "I'm actually not familiar with that song, but you just forced me to like it,” and "I'm pretty sure [that] although I never heard that song before, you probably sang it better than the person who sang it originally."

I'm pretty sure Adam Levine just wants to stay away from as many 'American Idol' references as possible.

-Dia Frampton, from the rock band Meg and Dia, gave another solid performance. She switched things up a bit, moving away from the piano and onto the guitar. Unfortunately for her, nobody thought to take the guitar from poor Dia's hands and she cradled the guitar while trying to grasp a microphone during the judges' comments.

-Once again, Aguilera referred to Dia as "cuddly, soft, cozy".

She's a professional singer, not a roll of Charmin.

-And finally, The V Lounge's name has officially been changed to "The Voice Social Media Room."

I wonder what was wrong with the original name?

Man, The Voice is proving to be an extremely entertaining show, especially with American Idol between seasons.

What were some of your favorite awkward moments? Let us know in the comments below.
