Ladies and gentlemen, we have pop cultural situation that needs to be addressed! Britney Spears is addicted to short sleeve turtlenecks and it's time for an intervention.

Here in the MTV Newsroom, we're a bunch of Britney stans; we organize entire birthday-related tournaments in her honor, contact experts to tell us about her boyfriend's abs and gave her latest album nothing but love. But even we have limits and a line in the sand has to be drawn somewhere and we're pretty sure we've figured out where that threshold is.

We first noticed Britney's interest in keeping it wintery up top and summery on her stems when she posted a picture of her engagement ring to Twitter earlier this month. One of our colleagues pointed out that Spears "always wears short sleeve turtlenecks" and we were baffled; we'd never noticed that it was a thing she was known for. That stuck with us though, and in just about every picture of the Femme Fatale diva to surface since, we've noticed she is sporting one.

It's not that she looks bad or anything … but, you know, it's maybe not the most fashionable choice for one of the biggest pop stars in the world to be sporting in her off time. Just sayin'!

Fashion Week kicks off today in New York City and we are excited. We're not big fashionistas or anything – we are currently rocking the stylings of the Gap and H&M … jealous? – but we love seeing people decked out in their craziest couture hitting the streets of NYC to check out shows by the biggest names in the fashion game.

Fashion Week also reminds us to show a little love to our fave sartorial superstars. Music's biggest and boldest are always setting the trends in the fashion world, so we decided to give our favorite trendsetters a shout out on this holiest of holy weeks.

Lady Gaga – Who needs pants?
Mother Monster has had a massive influence on fashion – so much so that her stylist/fashion director Nicola Formichetti has himself become a huge name in the clothes game. Formichetti is the creative director for French fashion house Mugler and is opening a pop up shop in NYC's Soho neighborhood where he will sell limited-edition pieces from Mugler, Uniqlo and Haus of Gaga. But Gaga's most obvious contribution to the fashion game can be seen in the abundance of leg that has overtaken America. While donning a leotard for work probably violates most people's office dress codes, the pop star's propensity for going pantless made short shorts a must have for ladies (and many urban gentlemen) this summer. With cooler weather approaching, we're thinking the trend will fade out soon … and probably be replaced with the bare-faced thing she's been rocking lately.

Adele – The return of the little black dress
From her soaring voice to her 60s-inspired, ginger biscuit-colored locks, everything about Adele is classic – right down to her preference for rocking simple black dresses like the one she wore to perform her latest No. 1 hit, "Someone Like You," at the VMAs (check it out above). Some may complain that she doesn't change it up enough, but we say phooey to all that. What's the number one rule in fashion? Stick to what works. And when it comes to Adele, the classic black dress works like gangbusters.

Nicki Minaj – Why not have a little fun?
Nicki Minaj isn't afraid to take risks with fashion. The hottest female MC in the game wore everything except the kitchen sink to the VMAs this year, including an ice cream cone necklace and multi-colored surgical mask, yet somehow it worked. It takes confidence to strut around in an outfit like that, something the "Super Bass" bad-ass has in spades. She's not afraid to have a little fun when it comes to fashion and we love it! So does YSL – Minaj is hosting an event at the luxury brand's NYC boutique tonight as part of Fashion’s Night Out.

Beyonce – Rolling old school with a splash of color
King Bey always looks great – no one wears high fashion, red carpet glam and over-the-top stage costumes quite like Beyonce. But we're loving the looks she's been rocking since announcing her pregnancy at the VMAs. On the red carpet, she stole the show in a bright orange Lanvin gown that made our jaws drop, and when she took the stage to perform "Love on Top," which has emerged as an out-of-left-field hit from her amazing album 4 (if she would have asked us to help her pick out singles before the album dropped, we would have told her to go with "LOT" – it's our fave track, which is sayin' something), she donned a retro, sequined Dolce & Gabbanna tux jacket that perfectly complimented her changing physique. Both looks were completely classy and just old school enough to feel familiar. Beyonce is perfect. We have nothing further to report.

Who is your favorite fashionista? Let us know in the comments.

Nobody wants to be just a singer or actor anymore. You're nobody in this world until you have your own product line, whether it be swim suits, cologne, nightclubs, top-shelf liquor brands or energy drinks.

And while it makes perfect sense for a wildman rocker like Sammy Hagar to launch a line of high-end tequila, or for beatmeister Dr. Dre to launch a line of booming headphones and laptops, sometimes those celebrity/brand marriages are a bit murkier.

Case in point: the announcement this week that Justin Timberlake has bought a minority stake in once-hot social networking site Myspace and that he'll be taking on the role of creative visionary at the relaunched company, which was bought at a fire sale by a West Coast tech firm. Yes, Timberlake has proven to be a triple threat as actor, singer and label boss, not to mention a fashion maven with his William Rast clothing line.

That got us thinking about other male music stars who've made bold deals with companies that might have seemed bizarre at first, but turned out to be among the best moves they've ever made.

50 Cent and Vitaminwater: Laugh all you want, but 50 has been savvy all along about his non-music ventures. From his G-Unit sneakers and clothing line to various PlayStation games, book imprints and RGX Body Spray, 50 has always looked for new opportunities. None has paid off like his deal with Glaceau, which hooked up with the rapper for the Formula 50 supplement drink. When Coca-Cola purchased Glaceau for more than $4 billion in 2007, 50 was estimated to have earned more than $100 million on the deal.

Will.i.am and Intel: Like 50, the Black Eyed Peas front man has been savvy about merchandising himself and his brand, but even he raised eyebrows earlier this year when it was announced that he'd be the "director of creative innovation" for the computer chip maker.

According to a press release, "As an extension of his insatiable fascination with technology, which plays a significant role in his professional and personal lives, will.i.am will engage in a multi-year, hands-on creative and technology collaboration with Intel Corporation." Apparently, that means the BEP will collaborate with Intel on everything from laptops to smart phones and tablet computers, in addition to making music "expressly for Intel." If you say so.

Travis Barker and Wahoo's Fish Tacos: The Blink-182 drummer has his hands in many pies, from his LaSalle Records label to the accessory/apparel brand Famous Stars and Straps and the clothing labels Rogue Status and DTA. But when you find a fish taco you love, you just have to sign on the dotted line, so in 2004, Barker opened a franchise of the West Coast eatery Wahoo's Fish Taco in Norco, California.

Justin Bieber and Someday: Ask most tween girls and they'll probably tell you that in their dreams Biebs smells like heaven. But in reality his recently launched fragrance, "Someday," which goes for $55 at Macy's, smells a bit more like a bowl of fruity potpourri. Well, it can't really be any stranger than his successful line of nail polish, right?

By Zachary Swickey
Who better to create a "lifestyle" Web site than Mr. White Louis Boat Shoes, Jay-Z? Dubbed Life+Times, the intriguing new site covers all the dinner-party topics: art, technology, music, sports, and even leisure. Shoot, Jigga even has his own section, the aptly-named "Jay’s," which currently displays a pic of an epic sunset with the title "Peace GOD" emblazoned above. It is strangely Zen. And over in the "About" section, Jay lays out his mission statement for the site: "I want to make the extraordinary, ordinary."

But it’s not all about Jay — far it, from actually. A YouTube clip of UConn’s Kemba Walker’s game-winning moment over Villanova and an article detailing the importance of the "floater" shot can be found in the "Sports" section. Meanwhile, "Art+Design" shows you how to shave like a baller, featuring kits ranging in prices from $800 to $1,600. And if you’ve been looking for the latest info on the new Rolls Royce Ghost, you’re covered: just click on "Technology," to learn more about it (for example, its starting price is a meager $245,000!)

Life + Times also features content like Q&As with French fashion bloggers, profiles on celebrity chefs, and features on Parisian beatmakers. And while the whole thing is very impressive, we can't help thinking that the site could be so much more. So, with all due respect to Jay, here are 10 certifiably HOV articles we'd like to see featured in the coming weeks.

» "Empire State of Mind: The 10 Hottest Spots in NYC"

» "Young Forever: Anti-Aging Secrets of the Stars!"

» "Hard Knock Life: The Newest Spa Treatment Crazes"

» "Run This Town: Marathoning Made Easy."

» "Big Pimpin’: The Economics of the International Gentlemen of Leisure."

Through reports of varying degrees of reliability, news broke Tuesday that Kanye West is collaborating with a Parisian design firm on a series of ultra-limited edition scarves, "inspired by his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy."

Now, whether or not said news is actually true is merely an afterthought ... after all, this is Kanye West. Designing scarves. Truth is secondary. And while it's not exactly West's first foray into the world of fashion — he's previously interned at Fendi and has designed footwear for Luis Vuitton and Nike — needless to say, we're still pretty pumped to pick up one of the accouterments (which will only be available from the Colette boutique in Paris or via MMParis.com).

But since the scarves are so limited — just 250 will be made — we're not sure we'll be able to snag one ourselves. Which is why we've decided to come up with a list of other possible Dark Twisted Fantasy-themed accessories West could also design, because, really, everyone deserves a little piece of Yeezy.

» Fire-retardant Phoenix legwarmers.

» Fat-booty Celine Dion Spanx.

» Something f---ing ridiculous, like a hat that's also a radio or something.

» "Ghetto University" letterman jackets.

» Gil Scott-Heron signature edition Nike Dunks.

» "Maliboo-ya!" insulated Thermos set.

» That watch Twista had on in The Source.

» Knock-off Nicki Minaj London Fog trench coats, to go with her accent.

» Official Justin Vernon beard-and-flannel dress-up kit.

These days, it seems like everyone has jumped on the LED-couture bandwagon. It's not just pop stars who are glowing in their clothes; it's also rockers and MCs who have decided that it's all the rage to light up the stage.

When Death Cab for Cutie shot their live, one-take video for "You Are a Tourist," they became the latest to sport light-up clothes. Their suits in the fanciful clip were accessorized with glowing lights where their pocket squares should be.

Kanye West wore a little light-up heart pin at the 2008 VMAs when he debuted his very personal track for "Love Lockdown." Chris Brown let his heart glow in his "Crawl" video back in 2009, and then he once again strung up his clothes like a Christmas tree when he appeared on "Dancing With the Stars" at the end of last month.

The Black Eyed Peas dazzled at the Super Bowl as they embraced the "Tron" trend and let their clothes shine bright.

The ladies have all become glow worms as well. At the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, Christina Aguilera hit the stage and let her lady part shine when she performed her sexy track "Woohoo." Britney Spears recently let another part of herself shine (her chest this time!) when she took the stage in Las Vegas last month to perform her latest single "Till The World Ends."

And leave it to Katy Perry to attend one of the most prestigious events of the year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala in 2010, and make it all her own. She hit the carpet in a hot-pink dress complete with — you guessed it! — lights sewn into it. She's a firework, that one!

Who sported your favorite light-up fashion? Let us know in the comments!

It's hard to believe, but there are actually places that multi-platinum R&B superstar R. Kelly hasn't performed. In fact, he's never been to Africa, though he'll be rectifying that soon. Next Saturday, Kels will close out ARISE Africa Fashion Week with a concert in Johannesburg, South Africa. It will be the first show of a multi-city tour that will also take him through South Africa, into Nigeria and end in London. The show will close out the inaugural ARISE Africa Fashion Awards, which seek to point the spotlight at the explosion of up-and-coming African fashion designers. Kelly said in a statement, "I'm very excited about my first visit to Africa, I've dreamed about this for a long time and its finally here. It will be one of the highlights of not only my career but my life." Kelly is working on a new album, which he hopes to release later this year.

The 75th Anniversary Gala for the Apollo Theater in New York brought together Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Steve Harvey, Fantasia Barrino, Bill Cosby, Quincy Jones and — perhaps most notably — Prince, who appeared on stage to help induct a handful of legendary divas into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame. Minneapolis' favorite son has kept his wardrobe relatively tame over the last few years, but last night he appeared in an outfit so yellow he would have been mistaken for Big Bird if he wasn't so diminutive. There's even more than meets the eye in this particular ensemble, so let's take a look at the various components:

» The Shirt: What goes better with gold? Even more gold. The sleeves and buttons are trimmed with a shiny-looking gold lamé, which give the garment an even more blinding finish. Normally famous folk wear loose-fitting clothes to mask weight gain, but Prince probably does it to hide that fact that he's even tinier than we think.

» The Glasses: Bono brought those fly-eye shades to the masses, but Prince made them amazing. Most people look aloof when they wear sunglasses indoors, but Prince manages to sidestep that. No matter what's going on below his neck, Prince always has a cool head.

» The Necklace: Did Prince throw a luxury baby mobile around his neck? Does he always wear jewelry he stole from an art museum's early Mesopotamian wing? Is that actually a breast plate to protect him when he goes jousting? The mind reels.

» The Walking Stick: Prince doesn't have any trouble walking, and it's somewhat hard to believe that he'd be carrying around a pimp stick (though perhaps he's into some business at Paisley Park that we don't know about). Upon closer examination, it turns out that the stick is awfully sparkly (perhaps Bedazzled?), which obviously means Prince is a wizard. (Actually, can you imagine anything more awsome than the Purple One appearing in the next "Harry Potter" movie?)

» The Pants: Okay, so maybe he's not a wizard. But with those pants, he must have been mistaken for a genie, right?

» The Shoes: And the outfit finishes off seamlessly with high-heeled pumps that look like a cross between magic slippers and the sort of thing Brüno might be wearing during his press tour. All told, it seems like Prince should have magic powers (or at least be protecting a pot of gold), but even if he doesn't, that doesn't take away the majesty of "Let's Go Crazy."

When we saw how hot Rihanna looked in her tuxedo at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute gala on Monday night, we were reminded that she's certainly not the first chica to turn fancy menswear into an androgynous fashion statement. Here are some of our favorite ladies to go black-tie in the public eye:

Celine Dion: For the 1999 Academy Awards, the diva mixed things up by opting for white and then, apparently styled by by Kris Kross, she wore the jacket backwards! Let's not even get started on the hat.

Madonna: Of course, what Madonna wore at the 2005 VMAs was greatly overshadowed by the fact that she made out with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

Angelina Jolie: Angie can be counted on for her edgy red carpet style, and she's embraced the risky tux look more than once: First at the Oscars in 2001 and again this year, when she wore a winter-white tux to the Berlin premiere of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."

Diane Keaton: Since making menswear hip in "Annie Hall," Diane has donned tuxes at many a formal occasion. She outdid all the men on the red carpet at the 2004 Oscars, where she wore tails, a waistcoat, a long tie, gloves, a watch chain and top hat.

Britney Spears: OK, in the video for "Me Against the Music," both Madonna and Brit are wearing suits, not tuxedos, but since we're not planning on doing this list again anytime soon, they might as well get a shout-out now for their gender-bending getups.

Marlene Dietrich: We're pretty sure all of the ladies above (or at least their stylists) owe some inspiration to this silver-screen sexpot, who sizzled in a top hat and tails in the 1930 film "Morocco."

If Stephanie Pratt was hoping that her new sister-in-law, Heidi Montag, would make time to hang out with all her favorite lady besties now that she's married, she must have been seriously disappointed at the Nylon Magazine Young Hollywood Issue Party in Los Angeles last night. But to make up for Speidi's absence, everyone from Rumer Willis to Nicky Hilton to Kelly Osbourne was there.

(Flip through pics from the Nylon party here.)

Also on hand were Stephanie's BFFs and "Hills" co-stars Lo Bosworth and Audrina Patridge (wearing the same shoes that Kelly Clarkson rocks in her "I Do Not Hook Up" music video) all decked out in their best party gear. The ladies were all smiles as they partied with hotties like "Twilight" vamp Kellan Lutz and his "90210" co-star Ryan Eggold.

Although Lo and Rumer rocked all black, ladies like Nicky Hilton, Stephanie and Audrina all threw in a splash of color with their looks. But we're a little confused by Kelly Osbourne, who showed up to the party with a blond pixie cut that matched boyfriend Luke Worrall's. Note to Kelly: Couples should only match their feelings for one another, not their hairstyles.
