By Zachary Swickey

We previously reported that rapper DMX has had his prison sentence extended by 30 days due to multiple infractions behind bars, and sadly this comes as no surprise considering his many brushes with the law.

DMX first stormed the rap music scene with his loud bark and “don’t f**k with me” attitude in the late 1990s. In a feat that had only been done by Tupac, DMX released two number one albums in the same year, with his debut in May of ’98 and follow-up that December (which stayed at No. 1 for 3 weeks). X soon joined the trend of moonlighting as an actor and appeared in a few notable films as well. After five number one albums in a row, his streak was broken when 2006’s Year of the Dog… Again failed to achieve the same success (although, it did hit number two).

DMX wasn’t and still isn’t your average rapper. He has a track that features Marilyn Manson, yet has a prayer recorded on every album. In his autobiography and lyrics, he discusses his love of dogs at length yet has been convicted on animal cruelty charges multiple times. It also probably shouldn’t comes as a surprise that X’s dwindling sales somewhat correlate to his transgressions. MTV even got a look at his enthusiasm for speeding firsthand during the recording of his MTV Diary special.

At first it seemed like X had some “wrong place, wrong time” like when he was falsely accused of a stabbing in Denver. Then the trouble really started. Check out the utterly insane list of his past offenses we’ve compiled.

>>> June 28, 1999 – New Jersey police raid DMX’s home and charge the rapper with a slew of infractions, including animal cruelty, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police discovered 13 pit bulls, and six used alleged crack pipes. All of the charges were dropped when X agreed to make a public service announcements for the Humane Society.

>>> December 24, 2002 – Christmas got off to a bad start when X was charged with unsafe lane changing, failure to signal and possession of a forged instrument (i.e. fake ID).

>>> June 27, 2003 – X was arrested following a performance at the St. Kitts Music Festival in the Caribbean for cursing onstage, which he was warned is a violation of local laws. (Can you even imagine what a censored performance from him would sound like?).

>>> June 24, 2004 – This is when things really started going downhill. X was arrested at JFK International Airport in New York when he and another man attempted to steal a car. Allegedly, he crashed through the gate of the parking lot and claimed he was an FBI agent when trying to take the man’s vehicle. Unfortunately for X, the guy didn’t buy it, and successfully sued him for $240,000 five years later.

>>> December 17, 2004 – Weeks after the sentencing for his above mentioned arrest, DMX was pulled over going 100 mph in a 65 mph zone. He was promptly arrested and faced serious charges, including third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation because he lost his license with his last arrest.

>>> April 15, 2005 – X was arrested for driving with a suspended license after he caused a three-car collision in New York City. One of the cars was a police vehicle.

>>> November 18, 2005 – X is sentenced to 70 days in jail stemming from his ’04 speeding conviction. 10 days more than expected due to his tardiness to court the day before.

>>> May 8, 2008 – Busted going 100 mph on the Phoenix freeway in his bright yellow ’66 Chevy Nova II (emblazoned with a “DMX” sticker). Charges: racing on a highway, reckless driving, two counts of endangerment, three counts of criminal speed and driving on a suspended license.

>>> May 11, 2008 – The same week as the above arrest, police raided X’s home and the rapper is arrested for seven misdemeanor animal cruelty charges and four felony drug possession charges.

>>> December 9, 2008 – X is arrested on an island off Miami Beach for missing a court appearance in Arizona. The rapper was arrested in the mansion of Scott Storch – a once hot music producer who infamously claims he snorted $30 million worth of drugs.

>>> December 30, 2008 – DMX pleads guilty to several charges, from drug possession and animal cruelty to theft. He is sentenced to 90 days in jail.

>>> May 22, 2009 – Pleads guilty to attempted aggravated assault and serves four months of a six month sentence.

>>> July 27, 2010 – DMX turns himself in the LA Metro Court for his 2002 reckless driving charge. He is sentenced to 90 days in jail and fails at his attempts to skip jail in favor of becoming a participant on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab. He was released 18 days later for good behavior.

>>> August 13, 2010 – Mere hours after his release from jail, X is pulled over for a minor traffic violation and arrested for not having a valid driver’s license.

>>> November 19, 2010 – X is arrested in Arizona for five counts of probation violation, which includes the use of drugs.

>>> July 12, 2011 – Rapper’s release is delayed by 30 days due to 7 various inmate infractions.

It’s Gucci time — well not quite yet. With the hip-hop world anticipating the release of Georgia rapper Gucci Mane from prison there have been numerous rumors and false reports.

Over the weekend various Internet media outlets were reporting that the “So Icey” rapper was released from Fulton County Jail, where he’s spent the last three months serving for a probation violation, but RapFix learned that was not the case.

Gucci was expected to be released yesterday, according to his lawyer Ashutosh Joshi, but it seems that “procedural holdups” prevented that from happening. MTV News also learned that there is currently a hold on Gucci’s release and a possibility that once he is freed from Fulton County Jail that he would be sent up to a state prison. The rapper’s lawyer however says that once this issue is resolved Gucc will be free man.

Are you confused yet? Don’t worry our friends at RapFix have it all laid out for you. Read on for the latest and check RapFix throughout the day for updates on Gucci Mane.

July 6, 2011 10:15 AM ET: A rep from Fulton County Jail confirms to RapFix that Gucci Mane (real name, Radric Davis) is still in custody in FCJ and said, “Mr. Davis will be with us for a while” citing a hold by the Georgia Department of Corrections that orders Gucci to be sent to a state prison upon his release from Fulton.

July 6, 2011 10:30 AM ET: A representative from Georgia Department of Corrections confirms for RapFix that there is an order to send Gucci Mane to Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Georgia after he is released from Fulton County Jail.

Let us know what you think of Gucci’s legal drama in the comments!

He raced into the arms of his sister, Brooke Hogan, upon his release from Pinellas County Jail, where he served 166 days of an eight-month sentence in connection with an August 2007 street racing crash that severely injured Hogan's friend, John Graziano.

Read more about Nick Hogan's release here.

Bollea has said he wants his own reality show now. Graziano's lawyer says that's an "awful" idea. What do you think? Could the "Hogan Knows Best" alum turn his show into something positive, or will it just be exploiting a tragedy?

In 2005, he was sentenced to serve more than 600 hours of community service, stemming from an assault conviction. Gucc, however — according to officials — has only logged 25 hours to date. The rapper, who was born Radric Davis, did ask the judge for "one more chance," but had no luck. He was taken into custody.

Professionally, Gucci was prepping a new solo LP, and there was talk of him and Shawty Lo working on a joint album. On Monday, Gucci and DJ Drama drop a new Gangsta Grillz mixtape.
