It's the segment of the show she appropriately calls "the bubble installation."

They're not actual bubbles, but rather plastic balls formed into one of Gaga's now-famous leotards. But Gaga didn't think of the bubble leotard herself; it's a knockoff. The similar look was originally seen on Hussein Chalayan's spring 2007 runway show and later re-created by Gaga because she liked the look but couldn't afford it.

"The show is meant to bring a tremendous feeling and sentiment of escapism," she told MTV News about her tour, which features the dress, as well as a piano filled with bubbles. " ... The bubble installation was inspired by a dress Hussein Chalayan made a few years ago. I couldn't get the dress, because it's, like, half-a-million dollars in a museum somewhere, but I remade it and I built a piano somewhere inspired by it."

In this economy, every half-million dollars counts.

Hey, Lady Gaga — you're confusing me! MTV News loves you. You're on the top of the world right now, with two #1 Billboard singles this year. Madonna just boogied down at your show on Monday. And then you go ahead and say something that leaves me scratching my head: The Jonas Brothers are the new Beatles.

How can I put this gently? No! Hells to the no!

In an interview with British tabloid the Daily Star, Gaga revealed that the inspiration for her album, The Fame, was the Fab Four.

"I don't know if anyone knows this about me, but when I wrote The Fame, I listened obsessively to the Beatles' Abbey Road on repeat for probably about six months," she told the paper. "It's so incredibly brilliant — an innate sense of joy — they really had that down. It's full of joy with a hat that tips to the melancholy."

No arguments so far. The 1969 album contains some of the Beatles sharpest studio work: the rocking opener, "Come Together," the sublime love song, "Something," the slow-burning, face-melting "I Want You (She's So Heavy)." I'm not going to say I see the direct connection to The Fame, but maybe that's just me. In the Daily Star interview, Gaga gave props to the Beatles for being "responsible for the birth of the sexual revolution for women."

But then Gaga drops this baffling nugget: "Now we have Jonas Brothers representing the return of the superfan."

Maybe she was being sarcastic and the reporter simply didn't pick up on it. Or, possibly, Gaga's a hardcore JoBros groupie. Whatever the case, let's dispel with this nonsense right now. Joe, Nick and Kevin aren't representing the return of anything connected John, Paul, George and Ringo.

The brothers Jonas may be popular; my little cousins may be obsessed with them, but they've never even had a #1 record or song. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Beatles are the most successful band ever, having sold more 1 billion records. And there are even signs JoBros' popularity is fading: Their Disney Channel show debuted on Saturday to a disappointing 4 million viewers, and their 3-D concert movie tanked at the box office in February.

So, Lady Gaga, this was a joke, right? Or perhaps, as you sing in "Just Dance," you'd spent a little too much time in the club and couldn't "see straight anymore" during that interview. In any event, I forgive you. And don't sell yourself short. The way things are going, it could be you with the crazily devoted — albeit hardly Beatle-like — following pretty soon!

Over the weekend, MTV News' Steven Roberts and I stopped by the Lady Gaga concert at New York's Terminal 5 to catch the hottest name in pop perform in front of a packed audience of die-hard and new Gaga fans alike — oh yeah, Madonna was there as well!

Yes, the Queen of Pop had come to see (and possibly take notes about) the new pop princess, who hit the stage in a number of outfits starting with her bubble-inspired costume and closing out with a strange yellow Jetsons-inspired dress.

It was the first time I had seen the mystical Lady Gaga perform live, and I must say I was impressed from the get-go. The girl knows how to put on a show.

A testament to her musical talent, Gaga's show is relatively simple. It's all about her and her music. Sure, she takes to the stage in full-on costume and wardrobe and talks crazy in between songs, but look past all of that and in essence the entire set is just her and her bubble-filled custom piano — her prop, instrument and co-star!

Having never seen her play live before I was a little worried that the Gaga phenomenon was all smoke and mirrors — with the dazzling costumes necessary to distract from her actual singing ability — but look past all the razzmatazz and one thing is for sure: Lady Gaga has one hell of a voice!

So, as we're both now officially Gaga fans, Steven and I were up at 5 a.m. this morning to hit the road to Boston with Brendan "Detox" Kennedy and Nicole "Ed Hardy is my life" Salmanak to visit the set of Wale's latest video for "Chillin," featuring — you guessed it — Lady Gaga.

I'm excited I'm getting to talk to her, and any chance to give our boy Wale — one of our MCs to Watch in '09 — some shine is good with me!

Lady Gaga's concert at Terminal 5 in New York on Saturday was quite a spectacle. The "Poker Face" singer went through six costume changes, but three ensembles really stood out in our minds: She donned an outfit made entirely of plastic bubbles while playing on a piano filled with bubble-like balls; she also wore a yellow futuristic dress with pointy shoulder pads, and a Britney Spears "Toxic"-inspired flesh-tone leotard with a police hat.

During the show, Gaga gave a shout-out to her good friend Marc Jacobs. Marc wasn't in the building, but his presence was definitely felt: For Gaga's fifth outfit change, Jacobs created custom Louis Vuitton Graffiti leggings for her dancers, and Gaga rocked a pair of Louis Vuitton stilettos to match. One day we only hope to have friends that design for Louis Vuitton — clearly Lady Gaga is having the time of her life!

Not only can she pull off the craziest styles, but she's quite the performer too. She sounded great live and talked to the audience throughout the show, prompting the already-hyped crowd to go wild (one classic quote among many: "Do you know how many times I played clubs in this city and they threw beer at me? It was kind of fun"). The venue was packed with screaming and jumping Gaga fans, and we felt like sardines in there. In between fending off people pushing and shoving their way to get to the front (we even encountered a guy dressed up as a pig!), we couldn't help but look up to the VIP balconies in an effort to catch a glimpse of Gaga's A-list concertgoers.

And just who did we spy? Pop's queen bee herself, Madonna, and fashion designer Zac Posen were among the VIPs. We also caught a glimpse of '80s icon Cyndi Lauper, who like Lady Gaga was known for some flashy and bright outfits in her heyday. It also felt like two pop queens were passing the torch onto pop's newest princess ...

Why isn't it surprising that "The Office" boss Michael Scott listens to Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" while cruising around in his car with the top down? Michael (Steve Carell) likes to pretend he knows what's hip, even as he makes you feel uncomfortable with how incredibly uncool he really is.

Dundler Mifflin's Scranton branch manager has always entertained us with his musical taste. Take his ringtones, for instance: It's been everything from Black Eyed Peas' "My Humps" to the supremely annoying "Mambo No. 5."

Michael also enjoys the occasional mixtape, or as he likes to call it a "CD mixtape," which actually sort of makes sense. There was the time Michael held a charity auction, and in order to hype the Bruce Springsteen tickets he didn't really have, he asked warehouse guy Darryl to make a mixtape, listing songs by Huey Lewis and the News instead of the Boss.

Then there was the mixtape he made to woo former HR rep Holly Flax, featuring the Dave Matthews Band classic, "Crash." Speaking of Holly and Darryl, we can't forget their bittersweet road trip, in which he and Holly (and a borderline-reluctant Darryl) sang "Life Is a Highway" by Tom Cochrane for hours.

Believe us, like most things with Michael Scott, it was cute at first and then it just got annoying. But, then it got really funny again.

Hey, ladieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees! (And the rest of you.) We've got a bunch of stories today, and just a few happen to be about some of our favorite females.

Did you see Lady Gaga and her piano made of bubbles last night on "American Idol"? Well, the 23-year-old pop princess made news yesterday when her first two singles, "Just Dance" and newer hit "Poker Face," both reached #1. The last artist to do the same was Christina Aguilera (who's copying whom now?). Our very own Jocelyn Vena gave us the rundown on Gaga's best looks.

Speaking of looks, Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry share a certain retro aesthetic, and the actress has had about enough of the comparisons.

Watch the video, have a great day and keep checking back in!

Disco queen Lady Gaga may be proving she's more than just a blond wig and leotard now that she is ruling the Billboard charts. But, for many, including those who continue to copy her look (see Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie), she will always be a fashion icon. And her performance of "Poker Face" on last night's "American Idol" brought her unique style to even more viewers.

She's said herself that she's as much a performance artist as a singer, and as her popularity grows, so does her onstage look. Out of her many crazy (usually pantsless) getups, we've chosen our five favorites. It was hard to narrow them down, but here they are, in no particular order:

1. Laura Ashley body armor: Gaga seamlessly combined granny panties, a Laura Ashley print (how conservative!), a body-armor-like top and a napkin for a hat at the 2009 BRIT Awards.

2. Leather sculpture dress: In an interesting turn of events, Gaga decided to wear a black leather dress which has some sort of spiked, gold sculpture growing off of it. The sculpture grew from the hip of the dress all the way up to her hair. It also comes in white.

3. Golden German body armor: At a show in Germany, Gaga sported the sculpture headband, but this time opted for a midriff-bearing gladiator top and stepped it up a notch or two by including bejeweled underwear. But she also was modest by including a pair of gloves.

4. Wednesday's "American Idol": Wearing a look that cartoon pop star Jem could have conceived in her wildest dreams, Gaga hit the stage in a black-and-silver star leotard. Keeping the theme alive, she also had a huge star bracelet on. She sported a cropped hairdo instead of her trademark long hair with blunt bangs. But it was her zipper eye patch that really made this look stand out.

5. Crystal-adorned pleather leotard: Sporting a motorcycle hat, Gaga decorated her pleather one-piece with a giant crystal on her waist and another on her shoulder for a performance on the German TV show "The Dome 49."

Honorable mention: For most people, wearing pants would not count as some sort of extreme look, but for Gaga, it's downright revolutionary. Sure they were skintight and pleather, and her hair was literally in the shape of a bow, but getting pants on her takes baby steps.

By now, you're probably aware that the new Christina Aguilera bares a startling resemblance to the new "next big thing in electro-pop," Lady Gaga (a.k.a.

By now, you're probably aware that the new Christina Aguilera bares a startling resemblance to the new "next big thing in electro-pop," Lady Gaga (a.k.a. "You know, that one girl ... the blond one ... no, not Robyn. I think she's foreign or something. No, not Peaches. No, not DJ Rap either"). And you were probably aware of this without even knowing who Lady Gaga was. Such is the power of the Interweb.

But in the rare case that you are positively, totally mystified by all the chatter, well, there's a side-by-side comparison in the right corner of this story: a promo photo of Gaga is on the left, a still from Xtina's 2008 VMA performance on the right. As you can see, there's plenty that's similar between the two — the bangs, the long blond hair and, of course, the penchant for lightning bolts drawn on or near the eyes. The fact that Gaga has been rocking this look for longer than Aguilera has plenty of folks in the blogosphere up in arms, primarily because they have nothing better to do with their time.

Of course, there are plenty of folks in the MTV Newsroom who see it the same way — good men and women who are outraged that we have not taken a stand and called Christina on her shenanigans. So, I drew the short straw and was forced to type up this missive. And in my further quest to shirk responsibilities, I'm asking you, our loyal readers, to sound off.

Is this a big deal? Did Aguilera totally go Gaga with her latest look? Let us know below ... oh, and make sure to check out Exhibit B in our case against Christina.
