By Matt Goodhue

<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/u2/artist.jhtml" target="_blank'>U2 has sold millions of records, packed enormous stadiums and won an array of awards for their musical achievements. Now, the legendary Irish rock band can check one more accomplishment off their to-do list: open a film festival with their incredible story.

Davis Guggenheim, director of the U2 documentary "From the Sky Down," will premiere his film as the opener for the Toronto Film Festival in September. "U2 has defied the gravitational pull towards destruction," Guggenheim says, "this band has endured and thrived." The film, chronicling the rocker's talent and dedication to music, asks the question why.

While festival-goers will catch the band behind the scenes and off stage, we've begun to think of other bands and artists we'd be interested in seeing when the spotlight is off. Some come to mind because of their genius work and success, others because of the crazy lifestyle that we all want to see.

Kanye West
From spitting through the wire to his VMA antics with Taylor Swift, Kanye West is one artist who certainly lives an eccentric life. The Chicago rapper is constantly cranking out hits and sporting some swagged-out fashion, and I'm totally intrigued to see where his inspiration comes from. I wouldn't mind seeing him and Jay-Z collaborate and chill in the studio either. They both seem like some real cool dudes.

The Strokes
After not releasing an album for about 5 years, there must be some interesting story behind the bands on- and off-again status. Yet, the group still manages to produce some of the best rock music of our era. These New York City musicians seem like they couldn't care less about how they're received, which make them good candidates for the title of most badass band in the US. They must have some killer backstage parties, too.

Wiz Khalifa
Between all of the paper planes and champagne that is tossed around, I would be amazed to see when Wiz finds time to grab the mic and go in on a track. This dude seems like he is having the most fun of any other artist out there, and it's crazy to note how much he's evolved and succeeded this year alone. I'm sure this documentary would be filled with the raspy laugh and smoke that all his Taylors have come to know and love.

Odd Future
From Tyler, the Creator's Twitter feed alone, you can tell the guys in OFWGKTA take no shame in making sure they're having fun. I envision this documentary to be a mix of “Jackass” and a horror movie. To make things better, Tyler could just direct the whole thing himself (check out his nomination for Video of the Year at this year's VMAs!). First a VMA, maybe next an Oscar?

Which artists would you like see behind the scenes?

At the Minneapolis, Minn., stop on their record-shattering "360 Tour," U2 dedicated “Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of” to the late Amy Winehouse, who passed away Saturday at the age of 27. "We wrote this next song for Michael Hutchence, but you will understand tonight if we play it for Amy Winehouse,” Bono said before playing the song.

“Stuck In A Moment” was written for Hutchence, the lead singer of INXS who committed suicide in 1997. The singer was a close friend of the members of U2.

The gesture is the latest of many that have flooded in since Winehouse’s passing. On Saturday night, just hours after the news broke, M.I.A. released the demo “27” on her Soundcloud in the “Back to Black” singer’s honor. “I recorded this song B4 vickileekx and never put it out,” M.I.A. said on Twitter. “It's a unfinished demo. R.I.P A.M.Y."

These tributes to Winehouse join a long tradition of musicians expressing their sadness over the death of friend or loved one through song. Read on for some of the best.

“Candle In The Wind,” Elton John
Probably the most famous tribute song of all time, John’s original take appeared on his 1973 album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in honor of Marilyn Monroe. The legendary singer released an amended version of the song in 1997 following the death of his friend, Princess Diana. John performed the song at Diana’s funeral and later released it as a single. The remixed version went on to become the largest selling single in music history. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the song has “accumulated worldwide sales of 33 million copies.”

“Tha Crossroads,” Bone Thugs-n-Harmony
Bone Thugs-n-Harmony dedicated their 1996 smash to N.W.A. rapper Eazy-E, who signed the group to Ruthless Records in 1994. Eazy-E entered Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in February 1995 believing he had severe asthma but discovered he was suffering from AIDS. The rapper passed away just one month later.

Puff Daddy - I'll Be Missing You by BANDITAROSA

“I’ll Be Missing You,” Diddy (then Puff Daddy) featuring Faith Evans and 112
Recorded as a tribute to Christopher "Notorious B.I.G" Wallace following his March 9, 1997 murder, “I’ll Be Missing You” went on to become one of the biggest hip-hop songs ever, spending 11 weeks at the top of the Billboard chart, the most for any hip-hop song until Eminem’s 2002 track “Lose Yourself.”

“American Pie,” Don McLean
This classic recounts “The Day the Music Died.” That date is February 3, 1959, when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper were tragically killed in a plane crash. Singer Don McLean, a child at the time of the crash and a big fan of Holly, wrote the song in response to his long-held grief. While he’s been mostly mum when discussing the song’s cryptic lyrics, he has said that he found out about Holly’s death while folding newspapers for his morning paper route (which is where the lyric “February made me shiver/with every paper I'd deliver” come from).

“Late,” Ben Folds
The 2003 death of Elliott Smith hit a lot of musicians hard. Songs about or paying tribute to Smith have been recorded by Bright Eyes ("Reinvent The Wheel"), Beck ("Broken Drum"), Third Eye Blind ("Elliott Smith (There's No Hurry To Eternity)" and Pete Yorn ("Bandstand in the Sky"). Folds' “Late,” however, actually addresses the confusion that surrounded Smith’s death from two stab wounds to the chest. While it is widely assumed Smith committed suicide – there were no “hesitation wounds,” which is typical when self-afflicted; he’d been fighting with his girlfriend and had a long history of depression; he reportedly left a brief note – the results of his autopsy were officially “inconclusive.” “Late” addresses the disconnect, leaving listeners to determine if Folds is upset with Smith for taking his own life or if he is angry at whomever did.

By Zachary Swickey

As U2 begin to wrap up the last leg of their seemingly never-ending 360° tour, they continue to shatter records and cement their place as the top touring act ever. The tour – which began in Europe two years ago in support of their most recent album, No Line on the Horizon – has currently grossed over $675 million during the over 100-show run with each date selling out consecutively.

Anyone who has caught a glimpse of the 167-foot tall “claw” structure that U2 employs as their stage knows just how massive this production is. It has a ridiculous budget of $750,000 a day, a fleet of 120 trucks, and a 400-person workforce. It takes eight days just to set up and take down the rig, and the group has three (at $40 million per “claw”), so that two can be in the process of assembly on the same night they play another gig. This 360-degree stage scenario allows up to 20 percent more tickets to be sold; therefore, further helping U2 slaughter attendance records from South Africa to the U.S.

To put things into perspective, The Rolling Stones’ 2005-07 A Bigger Bang Tour is the second highest grossing tour ever, raking in over $550 million, but selling a paltry 4.6 million in tickets to U2’s 7 million. Similarly, U2’s average attendance of over 65,000 people more than doubled the Stones’ 32,500. AC/DC’s lengthy return to the road – 2008-10’s Black Ice World Tour; their first jaunt in 7 years – is unsurprisingly the third highest grossing tour of all time.

But what about the ladies? Find out below.

Pop Queen Madonna remains a hot ticket and boasts the fourth highest grossing tour of all time with her Sticky and Sweet Tour. Despite only playing 85 shows, the tour was attended by over 3.5 million rabid fans and took home $408 million. The real road warrior, however, is Cher, who performed 325 shows over the course of four years during her Farewell Tour.

There are very few modern acts that can put up those kinds of big numbers without a healthy catalog of music to fall back on, but Lady Gaga drew fans in droves to her recent Monster Ball Tour. The trek spanned over three years and more than 200 mostly sold out shows, wrapping up in May of this year. Gaga is not wasting any time getting back on the road, and is already plotting her follow up tour, the Born This Way Ball, which will reportedly be even bigger and hit up countries that she missed the last time around.

Did you see U2 on the road? Tell us about the show in the comments below.

One shoots whipped cream out of her boobs and changes outfits seven times in one song. Another writhes on a giant guitar and closes her show by donning giant angel wings. Whether you're a Katy Perry fan or a Britney booster, the fact is these divas are leading a parade of major stars hitting stages this summer, and since we told you who our experts predict will rule the road during bikini season, now we want you to tell us who you've invested your cash in.

Will you plunk down your hard-earned cash to see Taylor Swift's country cutie act (once she gets over that nasty case of bronchitis, that is), will it be U2's gargantuan 360 Tour that will drain your bank account, or is your money on Perry and Spears?

If you're more of a hip-head, Lil Wayne is a lock to be somewhere near your neck of the woods this summer and Wiz Khalifa will surely burn one down within driving distance. If high-energy pop-punk is the thing, the Blink-182/My Chemical Romance double-bill aims to please, unless you prefer your rock more uncut, in which case Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket and Kings of Leon may be the right choice.

And, for the first time, glowstick-loving dance fans are not being left out in the cold thanks to the first-ever touring electronica festival, IDentity, which will hit amphitheaters in major markets with a host of big beat stars like Skrillex, Afrojack and Kaskade.

Then again, maybe we left someone off the list and there's some other tour your totally jacked about. We've done our homework, now it's your turn. Vote in our summer tours poll below.

Tell us who you will be seeing live this summer. Voting ends Monday, July 11 at 8AM.

The reviews for this year’s fest are in and apparently it was a banner year over in jolly ole England. Had there been a roof over the outdoor fest, it seems Beyonce would have blown it off. Check Queen B out above and read on for more action from Glastonbury.

U2, currently on the last leg of their 360 world tour (aka the biggest tour in history), also played a stellar set and had the entire Glastonbury crowd singing along to their classic “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”

Some, like Lil Wayne, pack that gap with hundreds of mixtape tunes and guest appearances, but even Weezy seems to be struggling to nail what is shaping up to be the new brass bragging ring in the biz: the two (or three) albums in a year watermark. While his rock album, Rebirth, was supposed to be released this spring, last we knew it was still in the "TBD" category.

So far this year, we've had U2, Eminem and Coldplay saying they'll drop a second brand-new disc of material either in the same calendar year or within 365 days of their most recent efforts. But considering the gaps between their two most recent releases (almost five years, five years and three years, respectively), and the fact that they're among the biggest acts in the world, turning that ship around so quickly would be impressive, though highly unlikely.

And, you might recall, last year Erykah Badu promised that she had a conceptual album trifecta up her billowing sleeve, but so far we've only seen the mind-blowing first chapter released, New Amerykah Part 1, 4th World War. No release date has been set for New Amerykah Part 2, Return of the Ankh, or the third "period piece" album, Lowdown Loretta Brown, all of which were supposed to originally drop in 2008. And, before all his recent legal issues, DMX had said he was going to release a hip-hop and gospel album within months of each other.

You might also recall that Chicago’s Lupe Fiasco promised to end his career with a three-album flurry entitled LUPE.N.D. but that project seems to have been back-burnered as well. Hell, even Cam'ron is talking trifecta, recently telling MTV News that he's got two albums, a soundtrack and two movies in the pipeline for '09.

While plenty of artists have beat the 12-month clock in the past (DMX, Tupac, Jay-Z, and last year, Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails), it's a tough game to play and we're not going to hold our breaths for those new U2, Eminem and Coldplay albums.

But we have full confidence that one artist will deliver exactly as promised.

Prince, notorious for his shelf-buckling backlog of recorded material, also has three albums teed up for release this year, only two of which, LOtUSFLOW3R and MPLSoUND are, technically, his own, plus a third from his protégé, Bria Valente, Elixer, that he had a heavy hand in writing and playing on.

And the reason, unlike all these other acts, that you can believe Prince? He cut an exclusive deal with Target that will see the whole thing drop for the low-low price of $11.98. Maybe front-loading is the key?

Do you think U2, Coldplay and Eminem will get two albums out this year?

For those who missed it, one item on the list was "Cool name: The Edge. Uncool name: Sting." Everyone seemed to make a big deal of it the next day, seemingly eager for a beef between these two guys with strange nicknames.

But when MTV News caught up with the guys last night at their secret show in Boston, The Edge used it as a place to clear the air and reassure fans of both Sting and U2 that there's nothing but love between the guys.

Lots of stories going on in the newsroom, and Tim Kash found some kindness in his heart to sit down and chat about 'em earlier today.

If you liked "Iron Man," there's a pretty good chance you'll like "Iron Man 2." Some big names have been added to the film's cast, and our movies editor, Josh Horowitz, is here to talk about them.

Last night, our very own Sway helped U2 host a very intimate concert in the very, very U2-obsessed city of Boston. Find out what he thought of the show, and check out our videos!

And lastly, Taylor Swift is headlining her own nationwide tour! What? Didn't you do the very same when you were 19?

That oughtta hold you over until tomorrow. Talk to you then!

Now that was an "OMG!" moment.

It's not every day that U2's management calls your boss and requests your services.

The pressure was on. My introduction to U2 happened in 1992, when I went to the Oakland Coliseum to see Public Enemy. I didn't know that U2 were headlining — or even who they were — but to my surprise, their performance blew me away and opened my mind to contemporary rock music. And now they wanted me to host a global radio broadcast!

I was just trying to get in the zone all day. It's one thing to prepare and research, but wrangling your emotions when everything's going crazy around you is another thing entirely. And it was crazy in the Somerville Theatre!

The band was soundchecking clear up until doors. There were thousands of fans outside trying to get in. Police everywhere, satellite trucks, TV production — the works.

By the time I hit the stage, though, I was having fun. After getting the crowd all riled up, I announced, "Live from the Somerville Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts —" and a cameraman cut me off. The floor manager miscued me in front of 900 people!

Now, people trust that I'll keep things under control. They know that I'll be honest and truthful. That helps me stay solid. So when there are missed cues or mispronunciations or whatever, I'm able to find my way to the next moment without making a mistake and having U2 go, "Whoa! He just messed up!"

They didn't. It worked out. I started over, and no one was the wiser. Later, as the band prepared for the Q&A, I told the crowd about my experience at the Zoo TV Tour. I wove the band into my story, they fell into their seats, and we were off.

Afterward, I felt like I'd been hanging out with guys I'd known my entire life. They're genuine, good guys. It felt good that when they called me, I delivered. And it felt even better when, at the end of the night, the band handed me a well-poured Guinness.

Have you ever gone to church after not being there for a while, and you hear a really illuminating, all-knowing sermon, and you feel cleansed? You walk away from the church feeling 10 pounds lighter and like a giant weight has been lifted from your consciousness. Anyway, that's how I felt after interviewing U2. Interviewing them made me feel how I used to feel when I first got into the game.

They were excited about music culture. As big as they've become, they have more humility and hunger than rappers I've interviewed who've only had one hit in the past year. Music to them is not just plucking their strings; it's spiritual. Them boys live to play, and they love to create and they love to make an impact on those who listen, and they want to be as good as they can be. They care immensely about their fans.

Talking with them, I felt the way I felt the first time I interviewed Cee-Lo long before he was in Gnarls Barkley, or Andre 3000 a long while back. It was very refreshing. We covered everything from their concert at New York's Fordham University to the reduced ticket-pricing for their tour (check back for that, and the full interview on Monday).

We also discussed lyrics: To give you an idea of how great the interview was, I paraphrased a few and asked if Bono was mocking his activism in it, and I said, "Is that to lighten the blow?" He said yes. They also explained why they chose not to work with producer Rick Rubin, and Bono also talked about what he's learned from Jay-Z and Kanye West, and the band's relationship with hip-hop.

There's a lot in the interview, so be sure to check it out on Monday — I'm still on a natural high.

MTV News will have lots more from our exclusive interview with U2 on Monday and throughout next week!
