Kris Allen loves my "American Idol" recaps. And when he informed me of this backstage at the American Idol" finale, I think my reaction was bigger than when he was crowned the new Idol.

This is my third year doing "American Idol in 60 Seconds," and the third finale I've attended. Since every media outlet and their mother covers "Idol" in some capacity, I never expect my silly video recaps to burst through all the noise. Plus, I always assumed "Idol" contestants avoided the Internet like the swine flu while they were on the show, since so many bloggers are gainfully employed to take dumps on "Idol" singers week to week.

In other words, I never expected any of the Idols to recognize me.

So, when Kris said my name and acted like he knew who I was, as you could imagine, I became quite flabbergasted. (The words "Holy crap!" flew out of my mouth as many times as Kara says "artistry!")

Funny thing is, on the red carpet before the show, when Adam and Kris were whisked over to speak to the crew from "Ellen" (the only outlet they gave an interview to there, oddly enough), Kris stopped to shake my hand like we were buddies. I just figured he thought I was the "Ellen" producer (we were standing next to their crew on the carpet). Or maybe he dug my "TEAM KRADAM" custom T.

And then he said it: " 'American Idol in 60 Seconds' is the funniest thing ever."

Kris Allen likes my work. Scratch that. OUR NEW AMERICAN IDOL likes my work. And if the American Idol endorses my recaps, then, by golly, you should watch them and send them to all your friends, whether they're in the Allen Nation or they're Glamberts.

In retrospect, it seems obvious. Of course Katrina "Bikini Girl" Darrell would be back for the "American Idol" finale.

Of course she appeared in her trademark bikini ("evening gown girl" doesn't quite have the same ring to it). Of course they replayed her audition moment where she sass-mouthed Kara DioGuardi, who later defended her singing talent.

But who knew that Kara would burst out onstage and kinda sorta flash the audience with her own surprise bikini? That was kinda cool and surprising, right?

Surely millions of American hearts were broken back in February when Katrina was booted from "Idol." Well, it was good to see you again, Bikini Girl. We look forward to your eventual appearances in Maxim magazine, reality shows (perhaps "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here"?) and, most importantly, "American Idol" memories. Those live on forever.

Check out more photos of Katrina in her swimsuit, plus all the musical guest stars, in our "American Idol" finale photo gallery.

Hi guys - sorry I'm late. I was busy talking to Paula Abdul on the red carpet. SERIOUSLY. More on that later…

But for now, it's time to live-blog the "American Idol" finale! Yay!

8:01 pm - Seacrest is introducing the judges with fun little montage that reminds us why they're the worst judges on television. Also, Randy Jackson borrowed a bow-tie from (Mrs.) J. Alexander on "America's Next Top Model."

8:06 pm - What's the worst part about being an "Idol" finalist? Having to sing songs about mountains and hurricanes or being forced to wear all white on the finale? At least Adam's wearing space boots.

8:06 pm - Mikalah Gordon is in Conway, Arkansas. This is the first time they've seen a real live drag queen. It's a night of firsts!!

8:07 pm - Carly Smithson is in San Diego. Oh no! Has Carly already become Mikalah Gordon-famous?

8:08 pm - The top 13 (remember that?!) are singing Pink's "So What." Although they edited out all the lyrics about ex-husbands and liquor. Also, if you mute your telelvision you can hear all of America saying "Oh yeah, remember Jorge and Jasmine?"

8:10 pm - Dear Michael Sarver, stop being a camera-whore. You're not the one we're tuning in for.

In honor of the "American Idol" finale tonight, we decided to celebrate the occasion at the expense of one of our production assistants, Joel.

You see, Joel looks a little like "Idol" finalist Adam Lambert, and that gave us an idea. So we took Joel for a complete Adam Lambert makeover — we GLAMBERTIZED him, if you will.

First, he needed to get the look. After trying on a couple of different Adam Lambert-esque outfits (basically a lot of black pleather, laces, chains, vests and tight jeans), we finally decided on his Adam Lambert look. And boy, was it special!

So dressed in tight pleather trousers with laces up the side, a black T-shirt and jacket complete with chains around his neck and waist, it was time for the next stage!

Now it has to be said, Joel is a good sport. Not only did we dress him up like an effeminate biker cowboy and make him walk around the streets of New York, but the next step of the makeover was a painful one. Read More...

Are you a self-described Glambert?

Do you frequently use the phrase "Kick Awesome?"

Well, then you're exactly the kind of person we're looking for.

On Wednesday night, in what many are calling the most compelling finale in the show's history, "American Idol" will crown a new champion: either flashy, flame-piped Adam Lambert or soulful everyman Kris Allen. It's a battle of contrasting styles and techniques -- vocal pyromania vs. straight-to-the-heart songsmanship -- and we're waiting with baited breath to see who comes out on top.

And we're pretty you're going to be, too ... So here's what we're looking to do. On Wednesday night, as the results are read by Ryan Seacrest live on air, we want you to turn your cameras on yourselves ... we're looking for your instant reactions. The thrill of victory. The agony of defeat. Tears, screams, blood ... the more fanatic (and, in the case of the Glamberts out there, dramatic) the better. We'll collect the best and feature them right here on our Newsroom Blog.

Interested? We knew you'd be. After the jump, find out how you can submit your footage. Read More...

Sir Anthony Hopkins: Oscar-winning actor. Knight of the British Empire. "American Idol" fanatic.

Joining ex-"Idol" contestants and Katie Holmes and her daughter, Suri, at Tuesday night's Adam Lambert/ Kris Allen sing-off was the 71-year-old Hopkins. His attendance may be a surprise to some, but Hopkins has long been a devotee of the reality show.

"We watch 'American Idol.' We are 'American Idol' addicts," Hopkins told MTV News at this year's Oscars. "Simon [is my favorite judge] because he's so brutally honest. There's no political correctness with him. He says it as it is." Read More...

Like many of you, I spent much of the week eagerly anticipating last night's "American Idol" performance finale. A battle of opposites. A larger-than-life, flamboyant rocker pitted against a pocket-sized, understated boy-next-door. Two talented men, facing off in what appears to be a very close competition, maybe the closest since season two's Ruben Studdard vs. Clay Aiken matchup. It's got to be appointment television, right? Wrong. The show could not have been more boring.

Things more exciting than last night's show: C-SPAN. Watching a mouse trying to free itself from a trap. A romantic evening with John McCain. The most climactic part of the night was when the fembot Carrie Underwood stopped singing and the series premiere of "Glee" began.

In any case, here's how the finale breaks down:

Round 1: Adam's "Mad World" vs. Kris' "Ain't No Sunshine"

I was disheartened to find that the contestants had to perform songs they had already done during the season. If I wanted to sit through repeat performances of "Mad World" and "Ain't No Sunshine," I'd visit YouTube. There were only a few subtle changes to each respective performance. The most noticeable was Adam's wardrobe. I did a double take as he appeared onstage, initially believing him to be wearing a dress. That would have made the show infinitely more amusing. But no, it was just a giant cape. How disappointing. Somewhere in the depths of the Nokia Theatre, I'm convinced there is a secret underground vault filled with pixie dust, a man-size vat of Velveeta and a rhyming dictionary that is the source of every "American Idol" winner's song.

Jordin Sparks' "This Is My Now." David Cook's "The Time of My Life." Taylor Hicks' "Do I Make You Proud" (not so much). Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This." What do they have in common? All terrible, schmaltzy songs that even the superfans who instantly downloaded them have probably deleted from their iPods long since.

And then there was Tuesday night's addition to the canon, "No Boundaries," a titanic mound of turgid clichés co-written by none other than judge and professional songsmith, Kara DioGuardi. This über-"Idol" winner's song had it all: opening lines about time slowly ticking away and wanting something (Simon's approval?) forever! But having to wait for it! (Typically 58 minutes.)

There is a reason Adam Lambert is Adam Lambert. His voice is amazing, of course, but that isn't the only thing that got him to the "American Idol" finale. He's got the persona, the charisma, the charm and the look. To many, he already is a rock star, whether he wins or not.

As for me, well, sometimes I wear sweater vests, I enjoy a nice cup of coffee, and I like to read blogs with cute animal pictures — so, I'm not really a rock star. I can't really be Adam Lambert, but I could try to look like him — that's the easy part, right? My style is more akin to Taylor Hicks than Adam Lambert, and I needed to get with the times! So yesterday morning, I took a break from my duties of being an MTV News production assistant and had the surreal experience of having cameras in my dressing room as I got glambertized (glambertized, for those who don't know, is the process of becoming as glamorous as Adam Lambert).

See video of the transformation process after the jump! Read More...

There's been a lot of talk this year about who's staying and who's going on "American Idol" — and we're not talking about the contestants.

The introduction of singer/songwriter Kara DioGuardi to the judging panel sparked rumors that Paula Abdul was being replaced. Now, the season is almost over and the fate of the judges is in question.

Looking back over this tumultuous season of set mishaps, crazy performances and surprise rule changes, we think it might be time to evaluate Kara and Paula in something we call the Judges' Showdown.

We broke this showdown into five categories: Outbursts, Awkward Moments, Performance, Words of Wisdom and Simon Cowell Encounters. Each category is counted as a round, with a winner declared at the end of each one. After all rounds are done, an overall winner is declared.
