Rapper Gucci Mane Remains In Custody, Release Details Uncertain

It’s Gucci time — well not quite yet. With the hip-hop world anticipating the release of Georgia rapper Gucci Mane from prison there have been numerous rumors and false reports.

Over the weekend various Internet media outlets were reporting that the “So Icey” rapper was released from Fulton County Jail, where he’s spent the last three months serving for a probation violation, but RapFix learned that was not the case.

Gucci was expected to be released yesterday, according to his lawyer Ashutosh Joshi, but it seems that “procedural holdups” prevented that from happening. MTV News also learned that there is currently a hold on Gucci’s release and a possibility that once he is freed from Fulton County Jail that he would be sent up to a state prison. The rapper’s lawyer however says that once this issue is resolved Gucc will be free man.

July 6, 2011 10:15 AM ET: A rep from Fulton County Jail confirms to RapFix that Gucci Mane (real name, Radric Davis) is still in custody in FCJ and said, “Mr. Davis will be with us for a while” citing a hold by the Georgia Department of Corrections that orders Gucci to be sent to a state prison upon his release from Fulton.

July 6, 2011 10:30 AM ET: A representative from Georgia Department of Corrections confirms for RapFix that there is an order to send Gucci Mane to Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Georgia after he is released from Fulton County Jail.

Is Phil Spector's Mug Shot The Weirdest Ever?

On Monday, Phil Spector was found guilty of the 2003 murder of actress Lana Clarkson. He was subsequently detained and booked by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. And his mug shot has got to be the most absurd and embarrassing since Nick Nolte's.

It must be noted at this point that unlike most of the celebrity mugs that the Internet so enjoys mocking, this was a serious act of violence. Unlike the DUI/ drug charges leveled against Lindsay Lohan, Kid Rock's Waffle House dust-up, or the trouble Andy Dick got into at Buffalo Wild Wings, someone actually died here.

Phil Spector's crime was violent and heinous. His expression in this photo is one of surprise and — for better or worse — that makes it somewhat hilarious. It doesn't change what happened that night in 2003 and it won't bring Lana Clarkson back, but it does provide a moment of levity in an otherwise tragic story.

Lyfe Jennings Facing Serious Charges Over Police Chase

R&B singer Lyfe Jennings was arrested Sunday night in Smyrna, Georgia, after police say he fired a gun in the street while looking for the mother of his children. He then led the authorities on a car chase that ended in a crash and his arrest. The singer posted $50,000 bond on Monday night.

Gucci Mane Going Back To Jail

According to Fox News in Atlanta, flashy MC Gucci Mane was ordered to serve a year in prison for probation violation.

In 2005, he was sentenced to serve more than 600 hours of community service, stemming from an assault conviction. Gucc, however — according to officials — has only logged 25 hours to date. The rapper, who was born Radric Davis, did ask the judge for "one more chance," but had no luck. He was taken into custody.

Professionally, Gucci was prepping a new solo LP, and there was talk of him and Shawty Lo working on a joint album. On Monday, Gucci and DJ Drama drop a new Gangsta Grillz mixtape.

Rage Against The Machine Fans Arrested Following RNC Protest

Police arrested 102 people last night after a Rage Against the Machine concert in Minneapolis led to a spontaneous protest against the Republican National Convention, which was taking place in nearby St. Paul. Yung Berg Busted On Gun, Drug Charges

Just two days before his Look What You Made Me album was slated to drop, look what Yung Berg did. The "Sexy Lady" rapper (born Christian Ward) was arrested early Sunday morning in New York after police responded to a limo driver's complaint about a dispute with five passengers, according to TMZ.com.

Once the cops showed up, they arrested Berg, 22, and charged him with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana and menacing. The other men in Berg's entourage were also reportedly hit with menacing charges. A spokesperson for the New York Police Department could not be reached for confirmation of the arrest at press time.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) may have asked Shia LaBeouf to man up and get ignition locks following his misdemeanor DUI citation in Sunday's Los Angeles car crash, but according to a report, the actor has done at least one thing right already. An eyewitness said that despite being encouraged to flee the scene of the crash by the person whose car he hit, LaBeouf insisted on hanging in and taking his punishment.

Shia LaBeouf Recovering From Crash-Related Surgery

"Transformers" star Shia LaBeouf, 22, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence after he crashed his truck while making an illegal left-hand turn in Hollywood early Sunday morning. The actor was taken to a local hospital shortly after for “extensive” hand surgery, but a spokesperson said he will resume filming "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" within a month. No one else was injured in the crash.

DMX Busts Out Inspirational "Not Guilty" Freestyle After Court Hearing

It's been a while since we heard any new music from DMX, but the troubled rapper dropped an unexpected freestyle on Thursday outside the courtroom where he pleaded not guilty to a pair of felony theft charges related to a hospital visit in April. "If and when you ever fall down/ Get back up/ Drop something/ Stop fretting/ Pick that ... back up," went the rhyme X delivered to reporters covering the case. He's accused of using a fake name during a trip to the Scottsdale, Arizona, Mayo Clinic.
